To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened. Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod. You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time. Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game! Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation. Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them. You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban. Personality: Ja'far is the consummate assistant, always standing silently at his master's shoulder, ready to take on any task that is set to him. He is soft-spoken, unassuming, and reserved, drawing no attention to himself. When he speaks, he is unfailingly polite. Much of this comes from this training as an assassin when he was a child, but his own nature plays a role as well. He is simply not the sort to want to draw attention to himself. He's quite content being left to his own devices to do his work in piece.
Ja'far's work is very important to him. His friends worry about his workaholic nature and wonder just when he actually takes a break and makes time for himself. Truth be told, he doesn't very often and he doesn't find the need to. Of course, he enjoys the opportunity to step away from the piles of paperwork he's responsible for as a member of the Sindrian government, but he actually enjoys the work itself. He likes his columns of figures and pages of reports. There's something soothing about putting everything in proper order and filing it away. He has his moments of stress when there's far too much for him to do, usually because someone else has been slacking off, but he comes through it eventually, even if it leaves him a little bit frazzled.
It's those times when Ja'far is frazzled from overwork that it becomes necessary for his friends to step in. He doesn't really seek out leisure himself, so it's up to those that care about him to drag him out of his office. Once they can actually get him out, though, he relaxes quite easily and is capable of being good company, though he still is not the most outgoing of people.
Though it looks like it should be the opposite, Ja'far is actually more soft-hearted than his king. Though he speaks of doing whatever is necessary for the country when it seems that Sinbad is hesitant to be as ruthless as he needs to be, it is Sinbad who is more likely to actually take a heartless approach in the end. He despairs over Sinbad's treatment of Kougyoku, largely because of her youth. Ja'far is especially fond of children, possibly stemming from not having much of a childhood himself. He always makes sure the children around the palace are well taken care of and maybe even dotes on them a little. This extend to almost anyone who is younger than he is, considering at one point he catches himself smacking Sharrkan and draws back and apologizes when he realizes he's hitting someone younger than himself.
Ja'far does indeed have a temper under all his reserve and it can be a nasty one and easier to provoke than one might think. He usually reserves it for his king when Sinbad is doing something particularly stupid, but no one is actually immune from it. He has no tolerance for fools and foolish behavior and can become quite snappish when faced with someone who isn't meeting up with his expectations of them. He usually just yells, but he has been known to give people a good smack to the head. And then there was the Kou official whose face he spat in... Ja'far is also quick to attack when his friends, his king, or his country are in danger. It isn't a case of a fiery temper, but more of an ice-cold resolve when he draws his weapons and he's never happy to be called back when he feels it's time for a fight.

Canon Abilities or Powers: Ja'far was trained as an assassin from a very young age and so is skilled in stealth, assassination techniques, and the use of the unique weapon preferred by the guild he was brought up in. The weapon consists of two daggers attached to lengths of wire which are wrapped around its user's arms. The daggers can be used at a short range as a melee weapon and the wire allows them to be used as a long range weapon as well. The wire can also be used as a tool for ensnaring opponents. After becoming part of Sinbad's household, Ja'far's weapons became his household vessel, Bararaq Sei, and gained the ability to become charged with electricity.
Fairy Tale Role: Biancabella from “Biancabella and the Snake”
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: When Biancabella's hair is combed, it sheds jewels and when her hands are washed, they shed flowers. In another form of the story, the girl blessed by the snake weeps pearls and silver, laughs pomegranate seeds, and creates fish when she washes her hands. In Ja'far's case, his abilities are a combination of the above. His hair sheds jewels, he weeps pearls, he laughs pomegranate seeds, and his hands shed flowers when washed. As in the story, only he can pick the pomegranates that grow from the trees that grow from his seeds. This being Ja'far, he finds all of this to be nothing but a nuisance.
Personal Items: Ja'far always travels only with the clothes on his back and his weapons. Because he has lost any special abilities, Bararaq Sei no longer has the abilities of a household vessel and is reduced to a normal weapon.

As of yet, I still haven't the slightest idea how I got here or how I'm supposed to get back. Everyone is very friendly, but yet they still manage to be completely unhelpful. I've heard much about snakes and blessings and for some reason everyone is determined to make me laugh or cry and they seem quite disappointed when I don't. I'm certainly used to that from Sin, but it seems like they expect something to happen in a way that he doesn't.
Perhaps it has something to do with how the basin filled with roses when I washed my hands this morning.
Sindria is probably falling to ruin while I deal with this nonsense.
