❅ Applications

Applications are: CLOSED
Indefinitely.

To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Test drive memes will go up on our meme comm, [community profile] mythmemes, the same day reserves open!

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: Nope!

IC
Name: Kanji Tatsumi
Canon: Persona 4 Golden
Canon Point: Post-True Ending
Age: 16

Personality:
Kanji Tatsumi started out life as, as his mother puts it, a 'cute child'. With his artistic and creative mind, he loved to make things through his skills with sewing and kitting, always whipping up cute things like bunnies and bears. Kanji was also a rather quiet, shy child, only showing off his work to his parents and going out to play by himself. Though at the time he thought little of it, he was also a little "different": He was a boy who played "House", a boy who loved to help around the house, assisting with the cooking and cleaning instead of playing rough-and-tumble games like Tag, or getting involved with PE classes. His awkward, "backwards" demeanor prevented him from making any friends, and he began to learn of gender roles, what was "right" for a boy to do, as opposed to what he wanted to do. Despite all that, Kanji tried to reach out anyway: At one point he helped a classmate by fixing her bag. The resulting teasing not only left him feeling more alienated, but ashamed of his talents. Who wanted to play or be friends with a boy who liked girly things?

...Then his father died, depriving him of a male role model. Kanji gained a fear of hospitals from the sudden loss, and the man's last words to him left him feeling insulted: "If you're a man, you have to become strong." The now-constant jeers from his classmates and his father's last words seemed to blur in his mind into one message: Everything about him was wrong. Fed up with being called a 'queer' and many other terrible names, his mind wrapped up in a mix of rage, fear, and grief over the loss of a parent, Kanji decided to shed what he was and rebuild himself in a new image. With his now-bleached, slicked-back hair, skull motif, dark clothing and multiple piercings, he would be the man that everyone seemed to want so damn badly, what he felt his father wanted out of him. Kanji decided to stifle what he considered his weak, "girly" hobbies and began a period of self-destruction: He skipped school, broke laws over his knees, and picked fights wherever he went. He wasn't an entirely uncaring jackass, however: He looks after and cares about his mother, going so far as to ensure she got a good night's sleep by beating the hell out of the biker gang in the area making a ton of noise, a ray of misguided hope that the real Kanji was still in there somewhere. For a time, Kanji felt he'd achieved everything he could possibly want: People feared and respected him, and all it took was completely squashing and denying his real self to do it. He didn't even care. He was drunk off of the power he was getting from his infamy, and would do anything to maintain this image. This unfortunately granted him a considerable paranoia to anyone who would question it to the point of putting himself in danger just to prove his masculinity. Insults are generally met with violence, if not his supremely short temper.

Then came the day he met a detective named Naoto Shirogane. A mysterious, rather attractive boy comes out of nowhere and tells him he's interested in him. Kanji welcomes the attention as the first good thing to happen in his life in years, and he develops a crush. Kanji begins to question his sexuality, and whether or not his hobbies were earlier signs of his possibly being gay. It's discovered later that he may in fact be bisexual: Upon learning that Naoto was in fact female, Kanji's awkward, shy body language and crush remain. He doesn't try to make his crush well-known, however, as he is nearly too shy to express himself in this way and holds a fear of rejection, but has had his moments where he at least attempts to clue the detective in.

Kanji's kidnapping and the bathhouse born from his mind reveal his 'Other Self', the parts of him he'd suppressed for all those years. Kanji is a guy who wanted not only to be considered manly, but he also wanted acceptance. He wanted a 'sublime love that surpasses the sexes', one where someone would love and accept him for not only his tougher side, but his softer, more sensitive side as well. It's when he's forced to face these feelings head on - in front of complete strangers, no less - and his subsequent brush with death that he finally comes to accept these feelings. Otherwise, he may have continued his downward spiral, slowly destroying himself.

Once out of the bathhouse, Kanji decides it's time to try and make good on the acceptance of his other self by trying to turn over a new leaf. With the help of his new friends, Kanji starts delving back into his hobbies again. He not only begins to feel like himself again, but experiences a brand new thing as well: Gratitude. He was finally being accepted, adored for his skill, and that was all he ever wanted.

This doesn't mean his tougher side is neglected, however: With his newfound power of Persona, Kanji becomes a strong, yet dependable comrade in battle. By solving the mystery, Kanji feels he can not only finally do his part to make up for his mistakes, but rethink what his father's last words might have meant: That being strong didn't mean to be tough and abrasive, letting people think what they wanted of you. It meant to stand up for yourself, and no matter what your preferences or hobbies, you act like an adult, set your foot down and get people to get you. Kanji chose then to live and try to uphold this interpretation. Whether it's a long, uphill battle or not, he'll remain firm in his belief and do his best to be a man his father would be proud of.

As for how he's doing now, he's mostly taken steps forward. The keyword, however, is mostly: Kanji still doesn't appreciate being teased (who does?), and to this day bears his moments of acting prickly out of prior instinct, quick to shut someone up even in the face of some friendly teasing or sing-song nudging when it comes to how he feels about others. To be angry rather than honest and open is unfortunately easier when stressed. Fortunately, his close friends know the real him, the changes he's trying to make, knowing he's still deflecting and isn't openly malicious, and they tend to roll their eyes or grin through the fact that they got to him. If you ask his friends, some of the reasons for said teasing is evident: Rather than absolutely squash down and hide his true feelings, they've started to bubble up whether Kanji likes them to or not. He's never been a guy who can be subtle (or sub-buttle) in the slightest, and now it's more out in the open than ever. He'll still blush and stammer in front of a certain detective friend and still be unable to tell her how he feels, and more and more he blurts out his interest or appreciation for something cute in his sights be it a costume choice ("Senpai, I'm a cute reindeer!") or something pertaining to what was once a super-secret hobby. When he's shown in the past that, with enough provocation, his hot-blooded recklessness kicks in and he performs in a way he was reluctant to before, his friends - particularly Rise - always feel the need to keep poking the Emperor with a stick. But despite all of this, it appears he doesn't let the teasing get to him for too long, especially when it comes from someone he trusts, and that's a huge and important step for him. Despite threats to rearrange Yosuke's face, for instance, he never made good on that. Kanji is capable of letting things go now, rather than fight them tooth and nail despite the occasional prickly reaction.

Another step forward is that Kanji has grown more in touch with his sensitive, protective soul and more importantly is rather open about it. Though his language is still pretty crude and needs some major work, he'll tell someone to sit their ass down and get some rest when he feels they truly need it, or he tries to offer a shoulder pat and wordless comfort without question. Though it's extremely evident that he does care about his mother deep down, he's finally come out in the open with it, pulling more of his weight around the house and even making gifts for her through use of talents with an eager, albeit bashful, resolve not even his mother had seen before. To even reveal he's offering handicraft classes points to Kanji's philosophy of 'go hard or go home', taking leaps and bounds forward rather than baby steps. He even speaks complete sentences to Naoto at this point, but whether he'll be more open about his feelings is still up in the air.

Because he's more open to his sensitive side and has a goal for himself in mind, he's far more relaxed overall. He loves hanging out with his friends, even in afternoons when he doesn't contribute much to the conversation at all. He even takes up a little studying at school when the protagonist puts him up to it, even though he's more street-smart than book-smart. He laughs more, actually smiles (sometimes), and every day he feels less like some zoo animal with millions of eyes on him waiting for him to screw up and more like a human being that matters to people.

In the here and now, Kanji Tatsumi is finally happy. Relieved. More importantly, loved for who he is, and not hated for what he pretends to be or what he presumes others want him to be. But if there's another new step he can take in the future, he'll find out what it is and do his best to have no fear in taking it.

History: His entry in the SMT wiki.

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Both sides of Kanji's personality bear one or two additional strengths overall: By running the streets and beating up punks and bikers, Kanji's physical strength is a significant step above your average guy. He's no superhuman, mind, but you don't become a legend in middle school by having a wimpy punch. His past has made him extremely resourceful as well: Kanji can wield chairs, shields, and various other cumbersome objects to a frighteningly-aggressive degree.

On the other hand, his gentler side allows him to have a steadier hand, allowing him to sew and knit as well as he's demonstrated time and time again in-game. His creativity allows him to be able to craft anything he puts his mind to and make it look pleasing to the aesthetic eye: Examples include not only the dolls he's made and continues to make (with the game telling us each time they 'look elaborate'), but a paper mache art project he helped Nanako Dojima make out of items found around the house. With such a creative, resourceful mind, it isn't much of a stretch to speculate that he's also rather skilled in cooking. He won't win any cooking competitions, but he could make edible, rather tasty dishes and do so competently, with the capacity to develop the ability.

On the supernatural front, Kanji is granted the power of his Persona through accepting himself for what he is. When his drive for battle reaches its peak, a blue light wells up around him, calling down a floating tarot card of sorts bearing his arcana, The Emperor. By breaking it by his own hand, he summons Takeji Zaiten, who then uses an array of lightning and physical abilities.

Though his abilities are all listed here in his Persona's wiki page, you are limited to eight abilities in the game. As such, I'll note eight specifics I typically roll with when it comes to him:

-Maziodyne
-Mighty Swing
-Elec Amp
-Cruel Attack
-Primal Force
-Matarukaja
-The Man's Way
-Elec Break

Fairy Tale Role: Beast (Beauty and the Beast)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: As the Beast, Kanji suffers from a curse directly connected to his more aggressive motions. When he is feeling angry or enters a combat situation, his body undergoes a physical change. For example, his teeth become pronounced, his eyes change and his physical features bear more of a beastly appearance. The angrier and more aggressive he becomes, the more pronounced the physical changes become. To enter a rage means to enter a state that's altogether difficult to control, until either the situation is rectified (by others or by his own newly-grown claws), he calms himself or he is calmed by others.

Personal Items: Clothes on his back, his cellphone, his pocket sewing kit (includes needles, thread, small scissors, measuring tape, spare buttons and pins), and his gold bullet charm necklace. Rather mundane.

First Person Sample:

[The handwriting isn't the neatest, but the penmanship is quick, the lines hard from a quill tip being pressed in a little harder than needed. Someone also never got the memo that everything on the pages can be read by the public...]

Sup, journal? I got a question- The hell's up with this place??

I know I'm supposed to be some kinda prince (I seriously can't deal with that, I mean, ME? Seriously!?), but everything about servants or help staff rubs me the wrong way. Some dude wakes me up every morning with breakfast, which is kinda cool, but then he's gotta dress me too? I'm not a kid, damn it! I keep tellin' him that it's cool, I can dress myself, but he keeps insisting and I got no clue how to tell him he can't do his job. ...Besides, I think if I told him to not do it anymore he might think I'm firing him.

I mean I keep thinking he's probably got family, needs this job to put food on the table. So what do I do? 'Cause I can't think of a goddamn thing.

Think he'll want something new to do if I asked him, or is he gonna throw some humble crap at me? Dude's gotta have better things to do than try to put pants on me.

...I'm probably thinkin' way too much about this stuff.

IC
Name: Naoto Shirogane
Canon: Persona 4 Golden
Canon Point: Post-True Ending and shortly following the conclusion of Persona 4 Arena. Social Link - Friend's Route
Age: 17

Personality:
Typically a stoic and cool individual, Naoto is a product of her own ambitions and direct response to society around her. After losing her parents at a young age, Naoto began pursuing a position as a detective to continue her family's legacy. Under the tutelage of her Grandfather, she was enthused for the role, studying famous detectives in various mystery novels and assisting her only family with his own cases. Unfortunately, while hailed as an Ace Detective, she wasn't taken seriously by adults and sacrificing her childhood to succeed her father left her with little to no friends her age. Further and further she withdrew in, trying to act more adult-like to be accepted, but that only isolated her more.

Reality only pressured her more as she grew up. As competent as she continued to prove being, adults began to use any reason to discredit her abilities, her gender becoming the primary target. To rectify this, Naoto trimmed her hair short, deepened her voice, used male pronouns, and bound her chest as her body developed. She also proceeded to further bottle up her emotions, becoming a cold and distant individual with all her conversations becoming calculated, direct, and extremely formal. Despite all her efforts, she retained a stubborn tenacity that made her desire to see cases to full completion almost childish. In the deep recesses of her mind, she soon scorned being born female and the deep-rooted want to be accepted for who she really was would later become her Shadow.

Following her rescue, Naoto's issues with her gender and abandonment of many childhood interests become the central focus of her Social Link. Naoto admits to not really hating being born as she was, but wanting someone to need her as she is. No one needed the female Naoto because the male was better by social standards. Due to this and hiding herself from others, she became lonely and has no idea how to properly reintegrate herself with her peers. The conclusion of her Social Link has her admitting and accepting being a woman and stating she would strive to become a female detective worthy of her male counterpart's respect, justifying her place in the world.

Admission to herself aside, changing will still take time. Naoto remains polite and distant with people she's unfamiliar with and any immediate pushes towards being more feminine will be met with resistance and unnerve her. When caught off-guard like this, her voice becomes higher and she can become quite defensive, requiring a moment to recollect herself. Questioning her competence because of her age or gender are both quick ways to get on her bad side and she will become particularly icy to the individual as a result.

History: Naoto Shirogane - Megami Tensei Wikia

Canon Abilities or Powers: From the sea of her soul, Naoto is one of a few individuals capable of summoning her other self and give it a physical form to fight. This being is known as a Persona. Unlike other users who typically have an elemental alignment because of their Persona, Naoto takes command over the non-elemental spell series Megido as well as the instant-kill dark and light spells Mudo and Hama respectively. All other developing abilities both physical and magical typically lean towards wiping out crowds of enemies, protecting her friends, or boosting strength, defense and agility. While it's possible for her to learn high-level elemental magic, these require specific events to be met.

As her relationship with the Main Character develops, Naoto finds resolve in herself which allows her Persona to rise to a new state. For Mythmakers, she'll have reached complete acceptance of herself which, near the end of her game, allows her Persona to awaken to Yamato-Sumeragi.

Outside of supernatural abilities, Naoto is a Detective with skill. Her Grandfather taught her how to wield various guns as well as taught her necessary self-defense techniques. Rarely are they utilized as Shirogane Detectives are typically called upon for the unsolvable cases. She's rudely called the '2000 IQ Killjoy Detective' during Arena because she is a straight-shooter logically speaking.

Fairy Tale Role: Beauty from "Beauty and the Beast" by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Born the daughter of a King and Fairy, Beauty inherits part of her mother's magic. While unable to do anything as extravagant as a true fae (granting wishes, influencing massive weather changes, permanent transformations, etc.), Beauty can still perform smaller spells related to various flora, summer in particular. These various spells include (but not really limited to) making small patches of flowers bloom, restoring withered plants to life, making saplings, and growing vines.

Personal Items:
The personal items Naoto will retain would be: her clothes at the moment, the hat she wears, a personal pocket notebook, and a pen. She didn't have her gun at the instant she was taken, so no weapon.

First Person Sample:
Date: 12/04

For days I have researched in the library, but so far, I have not uncovered why we are here. Further, I have yet to discover why I have come to be known as 'Beauty' and Kanji-kun 'Beast'. Perhaps it is a commentary on how we work together; not that I have qualms with this arrangement looking past the various expectations with these titles.

The castle provides solitude when required and the servants are pleasant. However, their presence does influence my homesickness. What's worse was the trip to the market today. A merchant spoke to me with much familiarity and even hugged me. I was in a state of shock that I really couldn't repel this confrontation. If I recall correctly, in many of the accounts of Beauty and the Beast, this merchant was Beauty's father. I couldn't speak to him; I had to excuse myself. Maybe this encounter is why I cannot bring myself to read through the archives for now.

I'll take a moment's reprieve. If I cannot get over it, well, I don't know what to do then.

- Naoto Shirogane

IC
Name: Loki Laufeyson.
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Canon Point: Post Thor: The Dark World.
Age: Over 1000 years old at least, possibly older. (MCU is not exactly good at keeping up with dates.)

Personality:
Loki is a complicated fellow of various conflicting emotions and traits. First and foremost he is mischievous, cunning and ruthless. He has zero compunctions when it comes to toying with and manipulating people into doing what he needs them to do. Whatever it takes to get himself over, he’ll do it with very little or no conscious remorse at all. He is his own number one concern when it comes down to it. Of course, he wasn’t always like that. Once upon a time, he actually had a care for his realm, and his family as well. Seemingly, they were his number one concern, though in actuality they were more a close second, as he still managed to scheme and plot where his own interests lied; his scheming just tended to have a bit of a more noble spin to it than it becomes later on.

Before the revelation that rocked his world, turning everything inside out and upside down, he was the dutiful and loyal son of Asgard, and while he often felt overlooked and overshadowed by his brother, Thor, there was a mutual love and brotherly bond between them. However, that bond did little to silence his own insecurities and inadequacies. Being raised among the Aesir, he grew up believing that being a warrior was the only honorable way to show one’s worth, strength, courage and manhood. The Asgardians are a warrior society who tend to be very short-sighted when it comes to the merits of using one’s mind in battle rather than solely using one’s brawn, thus he took many slights over his insistence on mastering magic and his crafty style of battle. Many called his magic mere ‘tricks’, his own brother, Thor, even being one of the people to discredit his methods whenever Loki would point out where his magic had helped to save the day. Of course, he did himself no favors by cultivating his reputation as the silvertongue lie-smith. While having a talent for lying is not a bad thing in and of itself, he tended to use it in the sorts of ways that would cause others trouble. No one likes to be made the fools via pranks, not even Loki, and he was the best at it. Not the most honorable trait to be recognized for, even if it is certainly a useful one for royal court politics, which is likely one of the reasons his father, Odin, never fully discouraged him from using lies.

Still, he harbored just as much pride as that of his brother and father, which meant he worked that much harder to gain their recognition and approval, something that felt like an uphill battle to him, as everyone always had praise for Thor and it felt as though his father favored Thor as well. However, the extent to which Odin favored Thor is questionable, given we do not see the entirety of their past, so it could very well be Loki’s own perception that sees Odin as only ever having praise for Thor. It's a notion that isn’t so far-fetched, considering Loki is one to keep his true feelings bottled up inside, whereas his brother would throw tantrums, let his feelings be known from the start, and get over his feelings rather quickly. Loki is one to let his feelings fester and eat away at him. While still believing himself to be a son of Odin, he was more than willing to silently suffer and swallow his pride and feelings of inadequacy because he was still a prince of Asgard. And while he still longed to be his brother’s equal, he was content to stand by his brother’s side, though he highly preferred that his brother not be the King until he learned some common sense. This struggle within him, to be recognized for his accomplishments and yet uphold his role as a son of Odin, would later play directly into him developing both an inferiority complex and a superiority complex.

His main motivation for allowing the Frost Giants into Asgard on Thor’s coronation day was to stop his brother from being crowned because he knew that Thor was far from ready. Of course, the only way to prove it to his father and the rest of the realm was to get his brother to act brashly and thus show his true colors. In truth, Loki’s plan worked perfectly. A little too perfectly, and from there the world spiraled out of control, changing both him and his brother forever. In one fell swoop, everything that Loki believed about himself was snatched away from him, and his brother was banished to Earth. He suffered a huge identity crisis upon discovery that he was in fact a Frost Giant AND the son of the enemy King. For centuries, the Asgardians told stories of the Jötunn menace; even his own brother had called them monsters. It was all too much for Loki to take in. Desperately, he tried to cling to his own identity, formulating a plan to not only kill Laufey before he could murder Odin, but to set himself up as hero and give Asgard a reason to finally crush the Jötunn for their insolence. However, things didn’t work out the way he planned. Thus, he finally snapped and decided on genocide as the answer to not only erase the heritage he came from, but to finally win the love of his father and people. Thor, the person whom had been his nearest and dearest friend, yet someone he envied and felt great jealousy for, did not make his loss easier to swallow. Following that up with a rebuke from his own father, Loki sought to kill himself. But instead he survived, though his sanity would not.

The cold calculation that he used in moving people around like chess pieces for the greater good was now turned solely toward his own causes. While he may still claim to be of Asgard, he has no fealty to anyone but himself. He’s no one’s son and he has no place to call his home. The few morals and codes of honor that he once followed are no more. There is absolutely nothing he won’t do if it benefits him. Hurting and killing innocent people, and using others as pawns is all fair game to him. The ends always justifies the means, thus he is destructive, volatile and irresolute. Add those to his already mischievous, ruthless and cunning nature, and that spells a recipe for disaster. Loki is not one for taking shortcuts to reach his goals, and if that means he has to make shady deals with undesirables and wait long periods of time to execute his plans, then that is perfectly acceptable to him. If along the way he can also manage to hurt and/or spite Thor and the rest of the liars that presented themselves as family and friends, then all the better for him. As Loki is also a highly vindictive person, no price is too high for him to exact revenge on someone. Especially when he feels that he has been betrayed in some fashion.

There’s not much doubt in my mind that the reason that he felt betrayed by the Warriors Three, Sif and Heimdall is that he considered them friends and comrades at some point. Nevermind that he was in fact doing shady things, even if he felt his schemes were justified and for the greater good. They chose to question him and automatically think the worse of him, whereas if he had been Thor, they would have followed without argument. If he didn’t care what they thought or never at any time considered them friends and comrades than I highly doubt his reaction to their betrayal would have been to snap the way he did and attempt to viciously kill them all. He pretty much derailed his own plans by taking the extreme course of action that he did, when he easily could have stuck to his plans and simply played the treason card with all five of them. And let’s not forget the act of spite he performed by going down to Earth and telling Thor that their father had died. He didn’t have to lie to him right then and there, but he made the conscious choice to kick his brother while he was already down. He’s very much like a snake that any time he feels threaten, he lashes out.

Basically when Loki is most emotional is when he starts making costly mistakes that unravel his plans. He is his own worst enemy. He’s more than willing to blame his misfortune on everyone else, but his own bad choices have led him down the path that he is on. Deep down, he knows it, but he’s not only good at lying to others, he is very good at lying to himself. By the time he is seen in the Avengers, he has pretty well deluded himself into thinking that everything that happened was solely, Thor and Odin’s fault and that if he conquers Earth. That not only will he have his own realm to rule, but he’ll be able to show his former family and friends that he is a force to be reckoned and make them regret that they ever doubted his power. Again this is where the full fruition of his superiority complex and inferiority complex can be seen the most.

While caught up in the delusions of believing that he deserved to have a throne of his own, he expresses his impression of mortals as being inferior and weak-minded, in need of someone to rule and guide them. Therefore it seemed only logical to him that he should be that ruler. He genuinely believes himself to be their better and that they should simply fall in line with his commands, because he’s a ‘god’. And while it may seem as though he hates mortals, he doesn’t really regard them highly enough to give them something as strong as his hate, at most they receive his disdain. However even as he maintains this superior image of himself, it is driven by pride and his need to mask his feelings of inferiority to Thor and Odin. Thor and Odin have respect, garner loyalty and receive adulation and recognition from others and he desperately wants all of that for himself. Though his inability to hold himself accountable for his own actions continue to keep him from even gaining a small part of what they have. Ultimately Loki desperately seeks validation and he’ll take it wherever and however he can get it.

http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/Loki

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Physiological Traits: While the Jötunn and Aesir have many differences appearance and environmentally wise, biologically they share several traits. In both mythology and comics canon, they are in fact genetically compatible and able to breed with each other. The fact that Loki was able to pass for an Asgardian for most of his life is likely a testament to how closely they are in biological terms in the movieverse. As such Loki shares physiological traits with both races, the main ones being superhuman/heightened strength, durability, longevity, stamina, tissue density, reflexes, agility, speed, a natural immunity to Human diseases and regenerative healing (that he can enhance with his magic). With the additional Jötunn traits of having a natural resistance to cold temperatures, registering no body heat signature and being able to perform the freezing touch.

Sorcery: As a master of magic (something that he is called in the very first movie), he is capable of casting a wide range of spells, that include creating projectiles, creating realistic illusions, creating ‘clones’ of himself, transmutation of objects, rendering himself invisible, moving through mirrors, cloaking and shrouding himself and/or others from detection, he can teleport various distances (usually limited to the realm he is in) and astral project his image to other realms and dimensions (as seen when he communicates with the Other in Avengers). He can influence and/or manipulate the minds of weaker/weak-willed beings (as demonstrated in the post-script scene of Thor and the comic-tie in Fury’s Big Week).

He also can shapeshift into different people, animals and creatures (while he can gain the natural attributes of whatever species or gender he shifts too, he can’t gain any specific powers that he doesn’t already possess. The longer he stays in a shifted form the more his magical energy is drained), he can summon/create objects/things, and can open a small hammer space (a pocket dimension of infinite space that he can store things to be call upon later as demonstrated when he calls upon the Casket of Ancient Winters when he fights Heimdall in the first movie). He is also quite apt with arcane lore and the wielding of mystical artifacts (prime examples are wielding of the Casket of Ancient Winters, the sceptre from the Chitauri and Odin’s staff Gungnir, all of which he intuitively knew how to use without practice). And he’s even shown in the Avengers to use his magic to block and deflect gunfire.

Skills: First off, he has a genius level of intellect, that makes him something of a fast learner and a heck of a tactician/strategist. (Of course this doesn’t mean he won’t do stupid things on occasion as even smart men can be dumb.) He has a talent for games of chance, especially ones where matching wits or outmaneuvering an opponent is the main premise of the game. He also has skills in designing and forging blades as it has been hinted in supplementary sources, that he makes his own throwing daggers to his specifications.

Combat wise, he does have hand to hand combat skills as all Asgardians do. He also knows how to fight with swords, daggers, spears and staffs. Though he favors throwing daggers as his personal weapon as he prefers to be able to take opponents down from a distance. However he is capable of adapting his fighting style to whatever situation he is in at the time. This is something that can easily be seen throughout the three films he appears in.

Fairy Tale Role: The Wizard King (The Wizard King)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: The King is called a master magician in that he had mastery over the "secret arts". During the story he shapeshifts in animals and creates a magnificent palace out of nowhere for the princess he kidnaps and uses his magic to travel from land to land with ease and it seems he could make potions. Given how broad "mastery of magic" can be, I would just limit this to basic kind of magic Wizards are known to perform in most mythos, the potion making, spell-casting and enchantments. Obviously Loki has knowledge in magic already, so he'll just be frustrated that he can't do everything he use to do and his powers are so diminished, at least by his standards.

Personal Items: The clothes on his back, his dagger and Odin's spear that is in his possession now.

Now this is a peculiar little thing. It is not as though I have never seen an enchanted book or journal before, but not one quite like this one. Judging from the entries that appear, within this book, that are clearly not my own. I can see that it can be used to communicate with others.

So allow me to get to the heart of this matter and simply ask, has anyone found out anything about this place? Besides the fact that the people seem to be utterly mad and insist that I am someone that I clearly am not. It is not that I take issue with being treated as a King, but I am not the King they believe me to be. I have not “lost my Queen” as I have never had a Queen and I most certainly do not have a son either. I have never seen an enchantment quite so wide spread before, it would take quite a bit of magical skill to pull something like this off and that is a notion I do not like.

IC
Name: Rapunzel
Canon: Tangled
Canon Point: A little while after some children braid her hair, before she sees the lanterns.
Age: 18

Personality: For someone who spent the majority of her life confined to a tower, Rapunzel is a surprisingly high spirited and adaptable young woman. Having lead a sheltered life, with only her mother and her pet Pascal as her only company; Rapunzel proves to be quite perceptive at least when it comes to those who are not her mother. She's just paranoid enough that she won't just take everything that is said to her at face value. Since her mother drilled it into her from a young age that the world at large was a dangerous terrible place. So she's not super trusting at least not a first, but it's easy enough to earn her trust. If someone shows kindness to her or in general proves to be helpful than she is more than willing to trust them and call them friend.

By nature, she is curious of everything, she likes learning new things and exploring the world. More than anything she wants to prove that she can stand on her own feet and that her mother doesn't always have to protect her. Of course like any teenage girl, she has a lot self-doubt and gets disheartened. But once she thinks things over, she readily tries again. She craves freedom and human interaction. She wants to be out in the world, making friends and doing what she wants to do. Rather than doing what she is told to do. She's not someone who readily lies and the lies she does tell always bug her and make her feel like an awful person. She's just naive enough that she can be taken in by fake sincerity to a point. Though the more she interacts with shady or questionable characters, the more she does begin to notice something is off.

She has a hard time seeing her mother is manipulating her, but when Flynn tries to manipulate her, she picks up on it fairly quick. Thus it goes to show that when it comes to her mother, the blinders are on. Mainly because she doesn't consider that her mother would ever need to lie to her. Why should she? That's her mother, who loves her and wants to protect her. Though the more time she spends away from her mother, the more she begins to see that maybe her mother was exaggerating things. Through her travels with Flynn, she also learned not to judge a book by its cover. Between Flynn and the Viking thugs, she's seen that appearances are not what they are cracked up to be. Since they are some of the nicest people that she has met and they are pretty much all criminals.

Overall she's a cheerful, energetic, excitable, daring and friendly girl, looking for her own place in the world, doing her best to follow her dream and maybe, just maybe find a new dream.

History: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Rapunzel

Canon Abilities or Powers: Direct contact with Rapunzel's hair while reciting the healing incantation can reverse injuries and temporarily restores youth. She's also very agile, dexterous, and quick. She has 70 feet of hair on her head and she carries it around with no problem. Her hair itself seems to have enough durability/strength to it that she can use it as a lasso/rope to tie things up, or use it to lift things that are too heavy for her to lift on her own. She also uses it for swinging around and climbing.

Fairy Tale Role: Maid Marion (Robin Hood)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Maid Marion has no powers, but she is capable with a blade, both swords and daggers and has some skill in using a bow and arrows but she doesn't come close to matching Robin's skills. Mainly she is good at masking her skills and true nature beneath a mask of regal and aristocratic behavior. She's the woman whom others think need protecting but in actuality can protect herself quite well.

Personal Items: The clothes on her back, her frying pan, the satchel with the crown in it and Pascal.

First Person Sample:
I'm not exactly sure what is going on. I just know people keep referring to me as someone named Maid Marion, but anytime I try to tell them that's not my name, they cut me off and just laugh at me like I am making a joke.

I don't know what I am suppose to do. It doesn't feel right trying handle her business, when I'm not actually her, you know? I wish Flynn were here...I wish my mother were here. Everything is so confusing. I just want to go back home. When mother said the world was a dangerous place, she never mentioned anything like this.

IC
Name: Ja'far
Canon: Magi
Canon Point: Current (chapter 205)
Age: 26

Personality: Ja'far is the consummate assistant, always standing silently at his master's shoulder, ready to take on any task that is set to him. He is soft-spoken, unassuming, and reserved, drawing no attention to himself. When he speaks, he is unfailingly polite. Much of this comes from this training as an assassin when he was a child, but his own nature plays a role as well. He is simply not the sort to want to draw attention to himself. He's quite content being left to his own devices to do his work in piece.

Ja'far's work is very important to him. His friends worry about his workaholic nature and wonder just when he actually takes a break and makes time for himself. Truth be told, he doesn't very often and he doesn't find the need to. Of course, he enjoys the opportunity to step away from the piles of paperwork he's responsible for as a member of the Sindrian government, but he actually enjoys the work itself. He likes his columns of figures and pages of reports. There's something soothing about putting everything in proper order and filing it away. He has his moments of stress when there's far too much for him to do, usually because someone else has been slacking off, but he comes through it eventually, even if it leaves him a little bit frazzled.

It's those times when Ja'far is frazzled from overwork that it becomes necessary for his friends to step in. He doesn't really seek out leisure himself, so it's up to those that care about him to drag him out of his office. Once they can actually get him out, though, he relaxes quite easily and is capable of being good company, though he still is not the most outgoing of people.

Though it looks like it should be the opposite, Ja'far is actually more soft-hearted than his king. Though he speaks of doing whatever is necessary for the country when it seems that Sinbad is hesitant to be as ruthless as he needs to be, it is Sinbad who is more likely to actually take a heartless approach in the end. He despairs over Sinbad's treatment of Kougyoku, largely because of her youth. Ja'far is especially fond of children, possibly stemming from not having much of a childhood himself. He always makes sure the children around the palace are well taken care of and maybe even dotes on them a little. This extend to almost anyone who is younger than he is, considering at one point he catches himself smacking Sharrkan and draws back and apologizes when he realizes he's hitting someone younger than himself.

Ja'far does indeed have a temper under all his reserve and it can be a nasty one and easier to provoke than one might think. He usually reserves it for his king when Sinbad is doing something particularly stupid, but no one is actually immune from it. He has no tolerance for fools and foolish behavior and can become quite snappish when faced with someone who isn't meeting up with his expectations of them. He usually just yells, but he has been known to give people a good smack to the head. And then there was the Kou official whose face he spat in... Ja'far is also quick to attack when his friends, his king, or his country are in danger. It isn't a case of a fiery temper, but more of an ice-cold resolve when he draws his weapons and he's never happy to be called back when he feels it's time for a fight.

History: From the Magi wiki

Canon Abilities or Powers: Ja'far was trained as an assassin from a very young age and so is skilled in stealth, assassination techniques, and the use of the unique weapon preferred by the guild he was brought up in. The weapon consists of two daggers attached to lengths of wire which are wrapped around its user's arms. The daggers can be used at a short range as a melee weapon and the wire allows them to be used as a long range weapon as well. The wire can also be used as a tool for ensnaring opponents. After becoming part of Sinbad's household, Ja'far's weapons became his household vessel, Bararaq Sei, and gained the ability to become charged with electricity.

Fairy Tale Role: Biancabella from “Biancabella and the Snake”
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: When Biancabella's hair is combed, it sheds jewels and when her hands are washed, they shed flowers. In another form of the story, the girl blessed by the snake weeps pearls and silver, laughs pomegranate seeds, and creates fish when she washes her hands. In Ja'far's case, his abilities are a combination of the above. His hair sheds jewels, he weeps pearls, he laughs pomegranate seeds, and his hands shed flowers when washed. As in the story, only he can pick the pomegranates that grow from the trees that grow from his seeds. This being Ja'far, he finds all of this to be nothing but a nuisance.

Personal Items: Ja'far always travels only with the clothes on his back and his weapons. Because he has lost any special abilities, Bararaq Sei no longer has the abilities of a household vessel and is reduced to a normal weapon.

As of yet, I still haven't the slightest idea how I got here or how I'm supposed to get back. Everyone is very friendly, but yet they still manage to be completely unhelpful. I've heard much about snakes and blessings and for some reason everyone is determined to make me laugh or cry and they seem quite disappointed when I don't. I'm certainly used to that from Sin, but it seems like they expect something to happen in a way that he doesn't.

Perhaps it has something to do with how the basin filled with roses when I washed my hands this morning.

Sindria is probably falling to ruin while I deal with this nonsense.

Name: Elraine Figarette
Canon: Double Arts
Canon Point: end of ch 23
Age: 16

(Switched the History and Personality sections since a lot of the Personality section refers back to info in the History section.)
History:
{World} The geographical background of Double Arts is limited to a small map display of one continent with only the Nitan Empire and country of Naginzeria mapped out, but we know the human population is made up of 4 races-- two that were never mentioned due to manga cancellation, the Nagin race known for valor and physical strength, and the Beigar known for their craftsmanship. The most important aspect of Double Arts' world is Troy, a pandemic level disease that is spread through direct contact with skin or hair. There has been no cure for Troy, and it is unique in that when patients hit the final stage, they go into a seizure and their body disappears, hence its nickname 'the vanishing disease'. Also, only a small number of women seem to have a high resistance against Troy. Two organizations have developed from the appearance of Troy: the Order of the Sisters, which battles Troy, and the Gazelles who try to kill off the Sisters. Not much is known about the Gazelles other than it has 11 leaders and is comprised of hired mercenaries and assassins. Sisters of the Order are women who have a high resistance and are trained to absorb Troy's toxins from a patient to prevent their death. Essentially, they can only treat the symptoms of Troy and extend their patients' lifespans but at the risk of shortening their own.
{Elraine} Elraine is a traveling Sister who has treated thousands of Troy patients, and reduced her lifespan to a capacity of about 20 years and lessening with each Drain. When Elle was young, her whole town was wiped out due to Troy, leaving her as the only survivor. Elle was retrieved by the Sisterhood and brought to headquarters, where she trained under Sister Martha and became an official Sister at 8 years old. Since she has treated thousands of patients, more than any other Sister, Elraine unknowingly gained a reputation as a hero and idol to all Sisters. Her popular title, 'White Fairy', among Sisters stems from Martha's nickname for Elle when she was little.
Double Arts focuses on Elraine's fated meeting and adventures with Kiri-- when she goes into an early seizure, Kiri finds her and stops her seizure simply through skin contact. Because Kiri has the ability to suppress Troy, Elle's duty is to escort him the the Order's headquarters while never letting go of his hand or else she will die from Troy.

Personality:
Elraine is an incredibly modest girl who remains cheerful despite her heartbreaking past, including her town's annihilation and the future of an ever-shortening lifespan. Being victim of a deadly disease called Troy, Elraine was dedicated to her work as a Sister and viewed it as the only way of life left for her. It takes her meeting with Kiri to understand that her life is very precious and shouldn't be thrown away for her duty.

A true martyr, as all Sisters are, Elle handled her job with humility and did not use her status to guilt or exploit others, making her a mature individual for her age. On top of being extremely selfless, Elle is extremely polite and mindful of others, even when she does not receive the same treatment in return. She fully understands why people fear Troy, and Sisters by association, but never holds it against them or feels resentment. She always keeps the safety and health of others in mind before herself and can become incredibly stubborn when she's focused on helping someone. Despite her success as a Sister, Elle puts down her skills and work due to her extreme modesty. Elraine is also incredibly oblivious to her status among the Sisters but becomes bashful when it's brought to her attention that she is referred to as a hero. However, if she's made fun of or is teased, she becomes loud and violent from embarrassment. A few examples include when Kiri laughs at her nickname and she punches him in the face, or Sister Heine teases Kiri and Elle about inviting her to their violent which Elle yells back that they're not like that. The same can be applied for when her personal space is violated (like when Sui peeps on her while taking a shower).

In the beginning of Double Arts, Elle's main goal in life was to save as many people as she could, thus sacrificing her lifespan and putting aside her ambitions and dreams in the process. Elraine is not the type to sit back and watch people suffer, hence why she worked as a Sister to keep people from dying. It was not a satisfying lifestyle for her, yet Elraine continued to work herself to death (quite literally). It's not surprising that her lifestyle has led Elle to become pessimistic. In a segment of Elle's narration, she recounts the Sisters' hope that they would find someone unaffected by Troy and find a cure through them, although tacks she on that she personally never believed in such a story. While somewhat resigned to her fate, Elle did hate the fact that she was sick with Troy and disliked how people treated her as a Sister. Ironically, Elraine is the one to encounter Kiri while she's dying, the only person immune to Troy, and is rescued from her fate. In her current point, Elraine is satisfied being by Kiri's side and has hope that they'll make it to the Order's headquarters and find a cure for Troy. Her dream is to see a world without Troy, and that is what she aims to achieve with Kiri's help.

During their journey to the Order, Elle learns from Kiri to value herself and to follow her dreams. Behind her kindhearted disposition, Elle originally viewed herself as a weapon of Troy rather than a person. However, Kiri reminds her that she's saved so many people and gives her a sense of normalcy when she is happily welcomed to his house by his parents. Kiri is also the reason Elle begins to follow her heart. Despite the fact that Elle associated Sisters with a mission-based, martyrly lifetyle, she begins to realize that she does not completely approve of Sisters sacrificing their lives for others' well-being. When Kiri is found by one of the leaders of the Gazelle, she's distraught by the fact that the group of Sisters she was visiting told to run away with Kiri to protect him, obviously ready to sacrifice themselves to buy Elle and Kiri some time. To prevent anymore sacrifices, Elle and Kiri develop their personal martial arts over time, called Double Arts, so that they can fight and protect themselves. Elle also insists that Sister Heine should follow her dream to be an artist rather than go to her final treatment and even puts herself in potential danger by 'draining' Heine to prevent her death. Despite the fact that she's learned to not instantly resort to sacrifice, Elle is still willing to sacrifice herself for Kiri as a last option because he is her hope for the world to be able to live without Troy. That and she loves him. ♥

Canon Abilities or Powers:
-"Drain" = the ability to draw out Troy's poisons/toxins from other people and bring it into her body (it helps that she has a high tolerance, so it would only shorten her lifespan a little bit for each drain) Reference: here and here
-Being able to see if someone is infected with Troy, although the manga doesn't talk about it too much. It is referenced here

Fairy Tale Role: The kumiho from The Fox Sister
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
The ability to cast illusions: in the story, the two eldest brothers end up consuming maggots, blood, and parts of corpses because the kumiho disguises the meal as a banquet with wine. This means Elle would have the ability to cast temporary illusions that can trick all the senses.
Elle would also be able to freely transform into a nine-tailed fox, and have increased strength during feeding time (if/when she tries to eat someone's liver) or during full moons. Generally, a kumiho can charm others in their human state, so I would mark this as an ability that Elle can turn on and off rather than have it be a constant state for her (even if she's adorable as is).

Personal Items:
-Elle's Sister uniform (since she'll be wearing her cloak and Double Arts uniform on arrival)
-Traveling backpack (will be empty)

First Person Sample:
I'm not sure what to do with myself. Kiri could get a job easily here, especially if he went to the tailors for a job, but I don't have any practical job experience. Does anyone have any recommendations for easy jobs? I could clean, but that's about all I know. Cooking is not an option [... is scribbled out.] My situation back home was akin to a traveling doctor, but I only specialized with patients who were ill with one type of disease which doesn't seem to exist here. Besides, it seems most people are healthy here, which is great! It's wonderful to see a place like this.

But [......] I can't help but wonder why some people give me strange looks. I'm not sick anymore, so that shouldn't be a problem. [...also scribbled out.]

Personality:

From what started out as a child in the woods, abandoned by his own family who were disturbed by his claims of communicating with Pokémon, this child was then picked up by Ghestis who planned to use him for his own elaborate schemes. This man saw him as the perfect specimen for his ideals and carefully shaped him into the "king" he envisioned. 'Purity' was the key word and it was exactly what Ghestis needed in a puppet. Using N's lack of/limited human contact, he continued this streak, enclosing him in a single room full of many toys to entertain him. The only humans who were allowed to interact with him were his foster sisters and the Seven Sages who educated him with everything he needed to know--everything except for the truth of the outside world. It was also in this room that he befriended many Pokémon, ones purposely shown to him, for they were specifically hurt and abused by selfish humans. And so it was through Ghestis' manipulative teachings that N unquestionably believed that humans and Pokémon were to separate if Pokémon were achieve any state of happiness.

Now as a young adult, he had realized Ghestis was just using him all along thanks to the revival ceremony of Reshiram backfiring. He then knew his foster father's beliefs of loving and liberating Pokémon was all a lie, but they were still deeply engraved in his heart. After escaping with his sisters, N was now independent from his royal prison.

This N is shown to be extremely curious by nature, exploring the outside world against his sisters' wishes to keep him safe. It is also stated he is learned in mythology concerning Pokémon and shows a keen interest in philosophical ideas and theories. He often questions the existentialism of Pokémon and goes on a journey to seek answers. But it is in N's belief that humans should cease contact with Pokémon despite having seen some who are completely happy with their trainers on his travels. He acknowledges their strong feelings but even then, refuses to agree with Pokémon battling and anything akin to violence. Anything he deems as misuse towards Pokémon is not tolerated, even going as far as to using his own body as a human shield to keep them from harm. It is because of this that he feels the number of unhappy Pokémon is too overwhelming for him to ignore. Having been taught one ideal for too long, he can be incredibly stubborn when opinions clash against his and will only relent when he sees the Pokémon in question is content. And being the one track mind he is, N is often prone to rambling and giving passionate speeches and is not afraid to speak his mind when dealing with disagreements. He will either speak too quietly or too fast and often will accompany his words with many hand gestures.

Aside from his passionate moments, N mostly maintains a quiet demeanor when not talking about the things he loves most, due to having little human social contact his whole life. But he states he was never lonely in his secluded room, the thought of having human friends never crossing his mind. (A bit ironic considering he believes all Pokémon to be his dear friends). Despite this, he does not shy away from human contact, possibly not knowing himself of the bonds he lacks. Rather, he can be cheerful in his own right, easily expressing his emotions to the point others would feel as weird or uncomfortable. It is a fact that N's childlike innocence is his best and undoubtedly worst point but is not incapable of opening his mind to differing opinions.

History: ( )

Canon Abilities or Powers: Understanding the hearts of Pokémon is N's forte. Speaking to them and translating their words and feelings comes naturally to him and is perceived as a rare and unique ability. He also seems to be able to sense their whereabouts if he chooses to seek them out if he ever needs their help.

((NOTE TO MODS: Will this ability also be erased? I see it as similarly being adept with a different language but if that's not the case then it's fine! Thank you.))

Fairy Tale Role: Enkidu (Epic of Gilgamesh)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Much like his own gifted tongue of Pokémon, N will also be able to communicate with animals and be in tune with Nature just as Enkidu had. There will also be an addition of new found physical strength which almost rivals that of Gilgamesh who is 2/3rds god. However, due to this new experience he will not be able to control this well and will be more likely to break (his own bones) a cup than hold it. Surprisingly, the way he handles his animal friends remains gentle as ever, possibly due to an unconscious desire to keep them safe.

Personal Items:

♔ 1 menger sponge puzzle
♔ 1 Light Stone in a case (contains a sleeping Reshiram. Won't awaken until more IC development happens with N)
♔ nothing else cause he's a hobo loser

First Person Sample:

Stories do not merely exist to entertain. Though exaggerated some might be, all of them hold some sort of truth that only the listener can unravel. For that reason I had immersed myself in Pokémon mythology and why I listened to the pleas of the fairy tales of Märchenstraße. These saddened fairy tales reminded me of the fate Pokémon might have in store if humans continue turning a blind eye towards them. I must not let that happen!

In truth, I wish to go back to Unova. I am afraid my friends are still threatened by human selfishness and by Team Plasma. My imagination does not aid me as I wonder of the horrifying things they are being put through as I sit here in a far off world, helpless. But I deeply sympathize with the living tales and wish to help them as they are in front of me now.

However, here, I am not addressed as N but Enkidu. Who is this mythical figure I hear so much about? I have been told he is like me, a man who is friends with all creatures of nature. I would like to know more about him! If only there were an archive or a library somewhere...

Personality:

Things you need to know before we start off: Fire Emblem: Awakening has two generations, first and second, and people from the second generation travel back in time to basically save the world and keep things from becoming a post-apocalyptic shithole and blah blah blah. The details can chill in history.

"But Red," you might ask, "Why are you putting this here? Isn't this something that should go into the history section?" It's because it's really important to understand how Owain ended up the way he did as a person. The future sucks. The future sucks so badly that the kids ultimately ended up willing to gamble and travel back in time (with no guarantees they'll end up even in the right century - one ended up overshooting his friends by three years into the past - or ever see each other again) in an attempt to protect their parents and create a happy future...if not for them, for their alternate universe parents and their alternate universe counterparts. Their future sucks so badly that, when faced by Risen (which are essentially zombies) in DLC one character basically says, "I know I should be really horrified by these innocent villagers being condemned to rise up as Risen, but I've had to kill off enough of my friends and family who ended up zombified that I'm numb to this horror."

More agonized sounding, but basically that. tl;dr their future really sucks.

Why is this important? Because due to this, Awakening's second generation is a group of seemingly normal people, give or take a little, with...issues. Owain's no exception.

To be fair, in Owain's case, when I say seemingly normal I use the term loosely as he's a bit weird. He's basically a dork and a nerd. If he lived in modern day Earth he'd be a LARPer, RPer, and would have his own webcomic. And some terrible OCs. There's even a chance he'd be RPing on Dreamwidth! And actually, he LARPs with a male Morgan in his canon. As in once a week, in a middle of a war, they get together and mock-fire off silly attacks at each other while shouting silly names like 'Flaming Flamingo Punch' and 'Soul Sword Spiritual Slash' and stuff like that. Just to, you know, blow off some steam and have some fun.

Owain's sort of fourth wall aware. He's not Deadpool and he's not aware that he's in a video game. But he taps on the fourth wall. One of his possible lines, when activating an ability called Dual Strike in a fight, is actually shouting, "Dual Strike!" In his book (as he actually has a journal called the Manual of Justice in which he draws and writes fanfics and special moves and did I mention he's basically a nerd yet?) is something he wrote which sounds very suspiciously like the description of a certain in-game skill. His canonical, in-game profile describes him as the most likely to shout, "Level up!" And he makes references to the other games. He shouts, "By the red hair of Eliwood!" or other, similar oaths referencing characters in other installments of the franchise. He even once references Zelda when he uses the attack Skyward Shield. When it comes to Nintendo franchises his fourth wall tappery knows no bounds.

So yeah. You've got this guy. He's a cheerful dumbass that's a large ham. He shouts his attacks and names his weapons. He goes around declaring that he's the son of heroes and makes dramatic speeches to evildoers. His entrance has him basically doing the entire Sailor Moon/shounen hero speech. You know. "Halt, villain! I am the hawk who seeks justice, the wolf that howls for love! Put down your weapons for I cannot stay my sword hand long…it seeks vengeance!" Something like that. Quite honestly, I wouldn't put it past him to do tag team journal fanficcing/RPing with some of his comrades (namely male Morgan, Cynthia) in-between the official LARP sessions. Heck, he admits in one support that part of the reason that he shouts his attacks was to keep training from getting boring.

But remember the entire 'bad future' thing I referenced? Yeah.

All of the kids parents die horrible, untimely deaths. Or if they don't, they vanish mysteriously, but point being they're gone after a point. Owain is no exception. His mother died protecting him at some point, although the how in that case was a little ambiguous. Although she died when he was older opposed to younger, old enough that he felt he should have been able to protect her. Protect Lissa or his father, actually, since his father took an arrow when they were out training. He has a strong bond with his parents, partially because they are strongly implied to have died significantly later than some of the other parents did.

Which isn't to say the other kids didn't love their parents, because they all did. Rather, it's because there's a difference between someone who died before you could form concrete memories of them and someone who died when you were 13, or the difference between someone who died in some far off battle and someone who died right in front of you because they took a blow meant for you.

And he has a very positive bond with Lissa. It's notable that, when recruiting Owain with Lissa, he immediately recognized her even before she managed to finish a sentence. Furthermore, he chose to immediately jump to, "Mom?! Hi! I'm your son from the future!" The rest of the kids generally either needed a few moments before they recognized that the person standing in front of them was their parent or waited until the end of the stage to reveal their identity to them. Some of them required three supports to resolve the issues in their relationships with their parents. Owain and Lissa? They were doing the mother and son thing before they even cleared the map.

So for obvious reasons Owain took the deaths of his parents very hard. The reason Owain goes around boasting about being the son of heroes? Because he is. The heroes are his parents. And his bombastic, over the top personality that indulges in heroic spirits and shouted moves? It's partially his attempt to compensate for the very dark future that he and his friends grew up in and his attempt to keep spirits high and morale going strong.

But only partially. It's genuinely a part of him, not just some facade, but his motivations for the large ham act aren't just being silly and weird and funny and having fun. It's a bit more complicated than that. It's also an act Owain can drop. The most notable moments are during the Harvest Scramble, Hot-Springs Scramble, and the Future Past DLCs.

During the Harvest Scramble he has a conversation with his friend Inigo about death and murder. Did he remember what his first kill felt like in the present time? He talks about how it was different in the future: all life was precious then and murder was non-existent. Humanity had to deal with the ever-present threat of the Risen and Grima. In the present there were enemy soldiers, bandits, and things of that sort and it was harder to be sure that they kept their goal in sight.

During the Hot-Springs Scramble he talks with Yarne, another friend, and questions if perhaps they lost their edge traveling to the present. If their parents had made it harder for them to stay focused on their mission, if perhaps they should be doing more or trying harder. And the entire time Yarne is weirded out by the fact that Owain's being serious and making sense.

And then he tops both of the above in the Future Past by basically going, "In order to complete our mission and save the world I'm going to take one for the team and give my life to buy you guys time to escape. Go save the world. Sorry I can't come with you." To be fair this is an alternate universe version of the Owain featured in the main game with slightly different experiences, but it's basically the same guy.

Layers, in short. To strangers he's the shounen hero in a world that isn't a shounen series at all, a hero who appears out of nowhere to make speeches about justice before having his sword cleave evil. To his friends and comrades he's the dork and weirdo that likes to name his weapons things and come up with special move names, a guy who can lapse into ye olde butchered English or talk like he's eight years old (according to Brady.) And if he really likes and trusts you or the situation is serious, Owain can drop the act and just…you know, cut the crap, but generally speaking he doesn't. But it's all him.

History: Fire Emblem: Awakening in general.
Owain specifically.

Canon Abilities or Powers: He's a swordsman and so his canon abilities entail taking a pointy object and using it to slash at people.

Also, Fire Emblem: Awakening has two generations, Owain coming from the latter. The kids inherit stat distributions and skills from their parents. In Owain's case, despite being a swordsman when he first appears, he actually has a +3 to magic and a -1 to strength thanks to his mom (barring various fathers who can tilt him one way or another in terms of stats but if we factor that in then things get complicated given that there's no canonical fathers besides Chrom to Lucina.) Which I'm going to interpret as Owain having some canonical aptitude with magic that he never explored for various reasons, and while he doesn't know any spells if for some reason he gets hauled into taking magic lessons he's not going to be a total helpless loser in terms of native ability.

In terms of patience, and the willingness to sit down and study, and all that good stuff? Yes, hypothetical magic lessons wouldn't be easy. But he's got an aptitude with magic. I mean, the base classes available to Owain via Lissa is Myrmidon (swordsmen specializing in skill and speed), Barbarian (axe-wielders), and Priest, which is, yeah, the healers/white mages of the game.

Fairy Tale Role: Jack the Giant-Killer
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Absolutely nothing useful in terms of powers, because frankly speaking it would probably be the most entertaining to have him be all, "Hngh! I have a dark curse!" "I turn into a swan by day, what's yours?" "Uh."

However, the fairy tale Jack does acquire a number of useful items which I'll list now:

- A fancy gold belt that makes the wearer look fancy
- A coat that will make whoever wears it invisible
- A sword that cuts anything
- A cap that tells the wearer all that they would want to know
- And shoes of extraordinary swiftness

I'd like him to acquire the belt right off the bat because it's merely gold and basically all it serves is to get giants pissed off at him as they go, "Wait, that belt means that you kill giants! Time to die!" (Potentially have the belt be cursed with a charm that causes giants to get pissed off at whoever wears it aka him. I like this idea. Can I go with this idea? It could be a giant magnet.) Get the sword at some point, maybe, you know, three months down the road. And as for the coat, the cap, and the shoes they're kind of potential game breakers - cap and coat especially - so I'd like for them to be things which he doesn't necessarily get but if I have a fantastic plot idea that would make things super awesome I ping the mods when the time comes with said idea and you guys can approve/disapprove of it then.

Personal Items:

Missiletainn: his sword. He believes (or wants to believe just roll with it, okay?) that it's a legendary sword of great power! And…destiny. It's actually just a very slightly above average iron sword.

His mom's signet ring. It's a memento of his mom, okay? Can't leave that behind.

His MANUAL OF JUSTICE, which is basically just a notebook he writes stuff in. Awesome moves and ideas and things!

First Person Sample:

[The handwriting is loose and quick, the handwriting of a guy who grabbed a notebook to jot down some ideas and accidentally...he...accidentally grabbed the wrong one and hasn't realized it yet.

Awesome Weapon Names of Unlimited Power

- The Infinite Skyclaw Foe-Piercer
- Flamefang Wyverborn the Darkbane [There's flames drawn around this one!]
- Vycewind Vicegard? Vynewyrd?
- Sacred Holy Hevalvar
- Shining Blackbane Giant-Slayer

[Yes, he might've gotten bored and started drawing pictures of stick figures with swords. There's more coming unless he gets interrupted and someone points out that he's on the wrong journal.]

Third Person Sample: Boom.

Personality: Steve is pretty much the embodiment of optimistic resolve. Not the attractively bruised kind you get from rich kids who only just realized how tough the world is and want to make it better, but the dirty, scuffed, focused resolve of someone who’s been put down by life so many times they barely notice it anymore. If you know what to look for, it’s pretty clear why.

First, consider the facts of his parents: his father died from a mustard gas attack. Given the year we learn this in canon and a basic understanding of world history, that means his dad died in World War I, either 1917 (the year Steve likely would’ve been conceived) or 1918 (the last year of the war and the year Steve was born). Either way, Steve’s mother was left to raise Steve alone in an era where women’s rights amounted to “okay, we'll let you vote now, shut up!”. That means she would’ve had to work longer and harder at the limited variety of jobs available to women at the time just to support herself, never mind a son.

The next problem is pretty obvious: Steve was pathetically unhealthy. A variety of cardiopulmonary problems and a bad case of scarlet fever as a kid caused him no end of grief, increasing his mother’s stress, stunting Steve’s growth, making it difficult to get properly involved in sports and other more active pastimes, and marking him as an easy target for the neighborhood bullies. On top of that we’ll add the fun fact that Steve grew up during Prohibition, the period when an ill-advised law ushered in the heyday of organized crime, and the Great Depression, when the entire country was struggling to make ends meet.

What does all this translate to? It’s pretty simple: growing up loving his self-sacrificing parents, Steve learned by example to put others before himself and help out whenever he could, however he could. Growing up unable to play with the other children the way most anyone would’ve liked, he made up for it by becoming more creative and finding new possibilities in the world. Growing up bullied, he learned to stand up for himself; growing up while the mob ran rampant because some people thought the best way to deal with alcohol was to ban it and everyone was broke because a handful of rich guys ran the stock market into the ground, he learned that the government isn't infallible, but that some rules are necessary to keep people from hurting each other. And when, on top of all that, he grew up sickly in a period when jobs are a dream and sometimes a neighbor’s kindness is the only thing standing between you and another night of going to bed on an empty stomach, he learned that things like skin color or sex or sexuality or disability don't actually make any person inferior to another. These are the qualities that earned him a shot at getting the Super-Soldier Serum, and these are the qualities that made him Captain America, champion of the ideal that all people are created equal.

Steve's respect for authority is questionable at best: he'll treat people in positions of power with the same respect as people with no power, but he only follows orders if he agrees with the objective and doesn't see a better way to reach that objective. As a result he is almost always most comfortable in a position of sole or shared leadership, depending on whether he trusts the other people to handle their responsibilities, and he tends to boss people around regardless of their actual rank. Steve isn't quite a "my way or the highway" leader--he'll accept input from anyone willing to give it--but he gets pretty passionate and therefore stubborn on matters of Doing the Right Thing and can have trouble compromising. Normally this works for him as the heart of what makes him a superhero, but people with whom he has fundamental disagreements tend to wear him out until he figures out how to deal with them.

If you know what you're doing, it isn't hard to use Steve's endless quest to make the world a better place as a way of distracting him. He even does it without help! If he's aware of trouble on the street--a mugging, a fight, a homeless animal, whatever--he does what he can to fix it, regardless of where he was going. Taking hostages is pretty much a surefire way to keep Steve from attacking in the short term (he'll figure out something else sooner or later). He hasn't had the opportunity to realize it yet, but the idea of being frozen again royally freaks Steve out, so anyone with some sort of ice power is going to have an advantage over him in a fight until he conquers that fear.

Unless he's in Captain America mode, Steve is generally shy around new people and a little socially awkward. It was always easy to fade into the background during the many years he spent as his friend Bucky's scrawny tagalong, and that isn't a habit easily broken now that he fits most people's definition of worth looking at. The only times he really comes out of his shell are when he's become comfortable around the people he's interacting with or when he's being Captain America, doing the right thing because it has to be done. When he is comfortable with people, though, he magically develops a smart-ass's sense of humor.

He is, however, a city boy born and raised, so given enough time and motivation he can adapt to just about anything. You need a crack team to back me up on my mission to cripple the Nazi science division? I've already picked a few guys and incidentally it's going to be the nation's first integrated unit. You're a brilliant scientist who turns into an unstoppable monster when you lose control of your anger? Awesome, do science for us and if you care to stick around we have alien invaders who need smashing. You want a rundown of this circuit board? …Nope, sorry, I haven't learned this shit.

In his free time, Steve is surprisingly average, a fan of baseball and motorcycles, amusement parks and movies, books and the radio. Drawing tends to wend its way all through his other activities, being a source of entertainment as well as a means of expressing himself and a way to keep his hands busy when he's bored. Since Steve never had anything physical going for him growing up, he had more opportunity to cultivate his mind, and the primary outlet for this wound up being an interest in drawing. It was something he could work at, something he even went to school for, and something that would've introduced him to other people who'd reaffirm his beliefs in opposing bullies and standing up for the people who needed it.

So yeah, ultimately that's Steve: a decent guy who doesn't have much in his life but believes strongly enough in every person's right to a minimum level of happiness that he will throw down over it, go to war over it, and if necessary fight an entire alien army with just enough people to fill a mini-van.

History: Steve Rogers in the MCU (note: this write-up includes events from non-movie sources which I consider semi-canonical until addressed in the movies and therefore may not include.) See also: MCU, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers

Canon Abilities or Powers: The super-soldier serum enhanced all of Steve's physical abilities to peak human/low-level superhuman ranges: strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, reflexes, healing, memory, mental processes, and senses are all maxed out, and his metabolism is four times faster than it used to be, which means among other things he effectively can't get drunk. Due to some combination of the serum's effects, he can also survive being frozen for decades with, physically speaking, no long-term ill effects.

In addition, Steve is a skilled artist, a decent boxer, and a fairly skilled shield-fighter, has standard WWII-era US army training (weapons, vehicles, communications, etc.), SHIELD training in hand-to-hand combat, a natural aptitude for tactical thinking, and has the willpower to withstand the painful irradiation process which completed his transformation into a super-soldier.

Fairy Tale Role: King Arthur
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Because King Arthur is one of folklore's sleeping heroes, the only real ways to kill Steve are to cut him in two or take away his will to live. Anything less will put him into a coma while he recovers.

Excalibur is strong enough to cut through steel, and when drawn can be made to shine with a light too bright for the average person to look at, duration depending on the ability of the wielder. Its scabbard automatically prevents bleeding wounds from becoming fatal, no matter how much blood is lost, on the person who holds or wears it. These powers are strictly tied to the objects in question, and therefore transferrable or even capable of being lost.

Personal Items: Captain America's shield

First Person Sample:

[In the upper outside corner of the page, there is a doodle of a skinny, confused-looking man wearing an off-kilter crown and holding at arm's length an ermine-trimmed cloak so large it pools on the ground. The drawing and the words next to it are both a little splotchy as the person on the other end of the quill learns his way around a fountain pen.]

Haha, very funny. "Let's get everybody to call Steve King Arthur like the timing of him getting pulled out of the ice meant anything," is that it? A Rip van Winkle crack would've been quicker. I know I didn't somehow get magically zapped to the past or whatever this is supposed to look like because I've seen electrical outlets, and I know this isn't an actual city because I've seen enough maps of Europe to draw the whole continent in my sleep, but that's all I really have to go on right now.

If anyone has more information, let me know here. Or ask around town for the dopey-looking King Arthur, I guess.

IC
Name: Peeta Mellark
Canon: The Hunger Games
Canon Point: Towards the end of Mockingjay, but before the Epilogue
Age: 19

Personality:

With self-deprecating humor, an amiable nature, and the willingness to sacrifice, Peeta Mellark manages to be a somewhat decent human being despite the hell of his circumstances. It is stated repetitively throughout the series that Peeta is one of the few victors who has somehow managed to survive without losing his inherent goodness. But before the picture of a saintly, humble, baker is given, there's also a darker side to the boy with the bread. Often he can be prone to bouts of temper, and his ability to work a crowd stems from an adeptness at manipulation.

Some of Peeta's more positive traits are the ones that dominate his personality. When interacting with people, Peeta is a calm, level-headed young man who can establish rapport easily and has no problem with talking and befriending all walks of life- from downtrodden agricultural workers, professional child killers, to the hopelessly drug addicted- one of Peeta's main strengths is his ability to simply talk.

Stated to have the power of words by the series protagonist, Peeta can move crowds and play the populace with well placed speeches, but more importantly, there is something simply likeable about the baker from District Twelve. Out of all the books, Peeta does not once acquire an enemy in a personal sense, and it is his sense of humor, humility, and endearingness that wins over the crowds at the Capitol and gives him and his partner Katniss the advantage in the Games. He is exceedingly patient with people, and at times often conjures up almost maternal sentiments in the way that he hopes to protect and help those he cares about even when it's clearly out of his power to do so.

His compassion, despite his lack of reservation to fight for his survival, is unprecedented in the series, evident with how he pauses, in the middle of a dangerous game where any moment of weakness can mean death, to comfort a dying woman who is so lost to her drug addiction that reality no longer registers. It's also clear when Peeta meets with the people of District 11 and offers a portion of his winnings in the games to the families of those who have lost their children, Katniss's allies. He also soothes Katniss routinely throughout the novel, something that no other character has managed to do in the series. Peeta is the type of person who not only knows when to give comfort, but can do it flawlessly and without any provocation. He is the boy who always knows the right words to say.

However, Peeta also has his flaws. In the books, he has been shown several times to lose his temper and to give in to his anger- such as when he screams at Katniss before their first games because she underrates herself, or when he goes bezerk in District 11's Justice Hall because of the secrets being with held from him. When he wants something taken care of, he does it in a manner that is swift and efficient and has been seen to place personal feelings aside for it- such as the draining of Haymitch's liquor stores and the cold shoulder he gives to Katniss upon their return from the first games. His ability to empathize with people also leads to him being able to make one or two comments that can totally detonate and destablize a person- something he employs when he knows there's no convincing a person (usually Katniss, but particularly evident with his claim that Katniss was pregnant before the Capitol crowd). He can lie and play a crowd easily to his advantage, and when it comes to political manipulation he is always three steps ahead. His thought process by nature is somewhat deceiving, and Peeta has no problem withholding secrets of his own.

His flaws, combined with his amiable nature, is something that later becomes a weapon against the people he used to call allies. Following the conclusion of the Quarter Quell, Peeta is captured by the Capitol. There, they use him as a mouth piece in an attempt to manipulate a budding rebellion and use the popularity he gained throughout his games to the fullest advantage. Initially, Peeta demonstrates an ability to play the field, as he uses his "interviews" to send subtle messages of warning to the people of District Thirteen. However, Snow soon realizes the futility of the interviews and Peeta is soon subjected to extensive mental and physical torture.

In captivity, Peeta is first tortured in the traditional sense. They imprison him, presumably starve him given his significant loss of weight when Katniss sees him onscreen again, and several other acts of atrocity are committed in the hopes of Peeta breaking or revealing information on a rebellion he knows nothing about. One event, in particular, involved the torture and hideous murder of two Avoxes, Lavinia and Darius, in front of Peeta. While this has obviously lead to shifts in personality, the Capitol's later punishment is what irrevocably changed Peeta forever.

Peeta became the subject of "trackerjacking", an unorthodox method of brainwashing that uses venom and horrific hallucinations to program the person receiving the venom. Peeta was programmed to hate Katniss, a tool created by Snow as a means to assassinate the rebellion's figurehead, the Mockingjay. All of his memories were spliced with the trackerjacker venom's hallucinations, and any positive connection with Katniss was rendered void. When Peeta is finally rescued by District Thirteen, his first reaction to the girl he used to love unconditionally is to wrap his hands around her throat. The Capitol took the loving nature of Peeta and perverted it to form a weapon.

When being rehabilitated by the rebellion, Peeta's demeanor has made a noticeable shift. His words are often hollow and there's a sense of detachment from reality. The manipulation of his mind has left Peeta in a perpetual state of uncertainty, and it shows. While still amiable, there is a heavy, guarded quality to the way he interacts with people, evidenced in particular by how his fellow victors treat him as a ticking time bomb. The recollections of his memories from the games become devoid of the emotions attached to them, hollow and cruelly logical. It's clear that Peeta is unstable, and at any moment he has the possibility of losing control to his delusions as separating reality from fiction has become impossible in multiple areas. The soldiers of the rebellion even make a game of it to help Peeta sort through his memories, called "Real or Not Real", where Peeta states something he knows to be a fact at they tell him if it's real or not real. As evidenced by all the "Reals" in response to stories of his torture, Peeta has suffered some heavy scarring from his capture at the Capitol.

At the current canonpoint I am pulling Peeta from, he has had some more rehabilitation and extensive therapy, but he is far from cured. Reality is still an unstable surface for Peeta, and the Real or Not Real game becomes a heavy factor in a lot of his decisions. While Katniss does not cause him to go into murderous rampages, he is still trying to puzzle the differences between the Katniss the Capitol has painted for him and the Katniss he almost remembers. His hands, in particular, are a source of struggle for him. Often they go into fits, presumably about to attack or strangle the people around him, and Peeta is stated to clutch the backs of chairs as strongly as possible until these "fits" pass. It's clear that Peeta is suffering from a severe form of PTSD, and while he is starting to operate more stably on a day-to-day level, there are good days and bad days with Peeta, and the Boy with the Bread has been significantly changed for the rest of his life.

History:
Peeta's wiki page

Canon Abilities or Powers:

While not as combat saavy as the rest of those in the games, Peeta has several talents that have proven useful in not only the arena but also in the tumultuous times following it. Growing up a baker's son, Peeta has impressive physical strength- said to be able to life at least 100 pound bags of flour with ease, as well as an incredible talent for painting. Painting in and of itself is not the most practical skill, but Peeta has been able to construct flawless camoflauge patterns in the wilderness because of it. He's also stated to be handy with a knife, and a talented wrestler, placing second out of his district in a local competition.

However, Peeta's main strength lies with words. He has a self-deprecating humor and easy rapport that allows him to win over most crowds instantly. In the interview sections of the Games, he blows the other competitors right out of the water, and he has a very charming and captivating stage presence. He is also able to cleverly manipulate situations, usually staying his fair share of steps ahead of whatever the Capitol has in store for him. Peeta is also very perceptive when it comes to people, he has a way of reading people as well as establishing fast friendships.

Fairy Tale Role: The Steadfast Tin Soldier
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
A Tin Heart. The Steadfast Tin Soldier is a toy within the fairy tale, and after he burns away in the fire, he leaves behind a lump of tin, shaped like a heart. I'd like to translate this to the power of heart Peeta having an enhanced endurance to pain when his feelings are involved, like an amplified mind over matter. Simply put, if he puts his heart into accomplishing or resisting something, the elements won't cause him any pain (they can certainly still kill him though. Life's hard out here for a toy). Like the soldier toy, Peeta will also be able to use a gun (he's had no firearms training in canon)

Personal Items:
-an apron, stained with paint
-a paint set
-his clothes

First Person Sample:

[for the most part, the handwriting is neat and precise, though occasionally it becomes shaky or a blot of green ink appears, like the hand holding the quill jumped off the page ]

I've been told this will communicate to others, so. Here it goes:

I'm not sure why I'm here, or how much of this is real. But I do know one thing: I'm not a soldier. Or tin. If anything, I think the leg is made out of some kind of plastic. And it was a bad idea to give me a gun.

[a scratched blot of ink ]

Before I arrived here, I was working on having responsibilities again. Things had a place: I baked bread from four until noon. Then I fed the geese. Sometimes I painted, sometimes I helped skin the animals Katniss brought home. In the evening I would work on the garden. It helped.

And I guess what I mean to say is, since I'm not on a schedule, and I keep being called a Tin Soldier by people I don't know, things have the possibility of going hectic. I have a hard enough time as it is establishing what's real or not real, and this identity or whatever it is they want to give me isn't going to help that.

In short: my name's Peeta Mellark, and I'd appreciate it if someone would take this gun away from me.

Thank you.

Third Person Sample:

He stared at the pair of boots on the floor.

Peeta knew how to tie shoes. That was real. He knew that this was real, because it was part of the Facts that Katniss had been able to give him during the war.

Your favorite color is orange. You always double-knot your laces. You sleep with the window open.

Those things were real.

Still. Believing something was real and actually knowing something was real were two different animals, and Peeta closed his eyes as he began to lace the boot string through each eyelet, his fingers clenching and unclenching with each movement.

Real. Real. Real. Real.

Boots were always laced tight. Too loose and you could trip while you run and twist or sprain or break. Injuries meant death.

Real.

He had to tie both boots tight because of this.

Not real.

He only had one ankle left to twist and sprain and break. The other one was some sort of Capitol metal that gleamed with too much light on it. The Capitol always did like their Victors on the spotlight.

Peeta wrapped the lace around his thumb, making a semi-circle.

He could thread the other through it, like a notch on a bow-

-the arrow slid along the string, an almost noiseless twang filling his senses as it comes to his throat. She shot the squirrels in the eye every time and he is much bigger than the squirrel-

Not real.

A knot is formed.

She sits by herself, most days.

He brings both ends back together. A double knot appears at the end of the string.

It still takes too long, but every day tying his shoes gets easier.

Yuuki Kuran ♦ Vampire Knight ♦ Reserved

[personal profile] sunflowering 2013-12-05 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

As a vampire princess and from a race that is naturally very mysterious and stand-offish, Yuuki is anything but. Where others of her kind are very aloof from the world, or power hungry, Yuuki wears her heart on her sleeve. With her what you see is what you get. She’s honest, up front, and hard-working, and it’s reflected in all of her actions.

Among her species, others are constantly taken aback by the fact that she’s so very open and approachable. Although she possesses the ability to make others defer to her, even against their will, it isn’t something she ever plans to do. In fact, others have challenged her on the issue and told her that if she wants their help all she has to do is force them. She completely refuses to go down such a path, however. The only way she wants help is by their own will, and earning their respect through her work and actions. Not because of what she is.

As a rule, because she is not human, and neither is she very much like her peers, she stands out as strange and unusual. She often jumps the gun and throws herself into situations where others would advise her to stop and think about the situation. Or does things that people would not expect someone from her position to do. Although she ranks above other vampires, and it is natural for them to defer to her, she often bows or treats them with equal respect-- something that definitely flusters the vampire world!

In addition she is very headstrong and a go-getter. Once she has her mind set on something, it doesn’t easily change. And she often recklessly throws herself into situations, regardless of whether or not it’s the appropriate thing to do, because it’s the only way she knows how to function. Even when her own weapon turned on her in the past, after re-discovering that she was actually a vampire, she refused to release it. Her strength of will overcame the weapon, ultimately, and accepts her now.

Yuuki very firmly stands by her beliefs. She has a strong sense of right and wrong and openly lobbies for peace and cooperation. Even though it is painful for her, she plans to stop and fight, if she must, her brother/fiance, before he can hurt any more innocent lives. Her willingness to stand up to someone who is obviously important to her, against all the odds not being in her favor, has begun to earn her more respect. Something that is hard come by between both vampires and hunters alike. As the ultimate proof of her being unable to stand on the sidelines and allow him to continue down this path, she later in canon comes up with the plan to die in order to turn him human. The spell would cost her life but render him memoryless and harmless, because she doesn’t believe she has the strength to stop him otherwise.

Beautiful, she can be serene and regal if the occasion calls for it, and was even trained in how to carry herself. But most of the time, she’s silly, cheerful, has an open appreciation for food (and sleep), and is very honest. If she’s unhappy, the individual will know it. Often she can become huffy or exasperated, and even childish at times. Likewise she’s playful, sweet, and expresses concern and interest in the people and things around her. She’s visibly earnest about everything she does, no matter the situation.

Although Yuuki abhors death and violence, she does believe in self defense and fighting if a person must. Although it has been stated by others in the past that she smells more of sunshine than blood, Yuuki has expressed that if she must, she will end the lives of those who would otherwise hurt others in order to ‘stop the sadness’.

Inwardly, Yuuki doesn’t like people to realize it, but she’s terrified of being alone. Because she is immortal, the idea of living forever while the rest of everyone else in her life dies is something she can barely think about or comprehend. And after her past few years of living locked away, and the differences between her and humans being instilled within her, the idea of her being compatible with others doesn’t feel realistic to her any longer. No one, except another pureblood, would be able to live for eternity with her. In the end, they’ll die and it will leave her alone.

Despite the fact that she keeps telling herself that certain things would never work out, she clearly has feelings for Zero Kiryuu within her canon, both a former human and hunter (as well as best friend, even if they had a falling out for a while). She would like to protect him, and hopes only for his happiness.

History: Wiki

- When her blood is consumed it has miracle properties (Increased strength and abilities, healing of illness or disease, even injury, etc). It’s also completely tempting, like a drug to other vampires.

Natural Abilities
- Superior senses (smell, sound, sight, etc.)

- Tempting and alluring by nature because it makes human prey easier to come by

Fairy Tale Role: Odette (Swan Lake)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Odette is under a spell that has turned her into a Swan by day. She can return to being a girl at night, as long as she returns to Swan Lake first, where she is forced to live. In order for the spell to be broken she has to make an everlasting vow with her love, which he must declare to her and remain faithful, otherwise she is forced to remain a swan for life.

Due to being a swan she might be able to communicate with other animals, too, if they don't already speak.

Personal Items:
1.) A silver bracelet with a spell on it that allows her to tame the vampire connected to it,
2.) Artemis (Giant collapsible scythe)
3.) A resin rose given to her by her brother of a flower that blooms only once every ten years
4.) A special, mysterious key given to her by her brother
5.) A silver button of the Kuran family crest

First Person Sample:

There’s absolutely no way I can get used to something like this. I get it… the fact that I can only return to normal at night is a little ironic, but it’s not funny. People mentioned a man by the name of… Von Rosubaato. Ros...Rothbaat…?

. . . . I’m sorry. I’ve never heard of a name like it before so I am probably spelling it wrong. I only heard it verbally once or twice. If you know where this person is please direct me to him right away!

In addition…I would really appreciate it if people stopped throwing stale bread crumbs around like they think I might want to eat them. Especially after they’ve been on the ground.

Personality: Born and raised in a temple shrine, Yui grew up a little more serious, a little more mature, a little more old-fashioned than most girls. She practices iaijutsu, excels in her studies and helps out with the responsibilities in the temple. Though optimistic and kind-hearted, this has also kept her out of touch when it comes to things that normal girls do: hanging out, having fun, even falling in love or having a crush. She’s completely disciplined and if anything, Yui worries and thinks more about her future after high school, skipping over love as if it's almost an afterthought.

So in a school full of gods unknowing and a little ignorant about most things human, Yui serves as the class' voice of reason and takes her responsibility seriously as the gods' "tutor". She looks for the delinquents all over the school and drags them back to class. She takes charge and makes sure that everyone participates in school activities and clubs. And despite her moments of exasperation or confusion (mostly either out of the gods’ cluelessness, out-of-this-world ideas or being a pain in the ass), she supports them anyway, providing additional input or suggestions that would improve things. At the same time, she’s also open-minded and willing to learn new things from them. New and strange things may startle her at first but she accepts them anyway, effortlessly integrating them into her life.

Her dedication often leads to her bouts of stubbornness (and with it, her rarely-seen dry wit). She didn’t earn her nickname “真面目ちゃん”, or “serious-chan” for nothing. If something needs to be done, then she will do something about it so God help her. For instance, she challenges Takeru to a kendo match when she’s already out of options on how to get him to join a club, much to the sea god’s surprise and amusement. At times, it also leads her to showing a different side of her: someone sly, someone clever. Every single day, she would think of ways to trick Loki into attending their club meetings: from stubbornly dragging him to the clubroom to providing incentives to putting up an act with Thor. This doesn’t mean however that everyone listens to her. Her determination is often rewarded but sometimes, the gods are really just too forceful that her voice gets drowned out in a sea of enthusiastic yelling and she just gets swept away as an unwilling victim.

As the story progresses, Yui begins to care for her classmates even though half the time, it feels like babysitting. Perceptive and very much attentive to them, she sees the effort that they put into the things they do and her desire to help them graduate grows more with every day. She’s also often the first to see if there’s something wrong, acting as the gods’ mental and emotional support especially during those times when they’re tried either by Zeus or something else. She keeps them optimistic and encourages them when they’re down. Even when pushed away, she doesn’t give up; she finds ways to show that she’s still present and willing to help. She’s even willing to brave the Underworld on her own. And that’s because she sees them beyond their image as gods and sees them as individuals with feelings and emotions like her. Which is, in fact, something the gods appreciate since most humans often see them as that: gods, eternal and all-powerful.

Her compassion, understanding, concern towards other people and her dedication to help them show a glaring and destructive flaw in Yui’s character however. As Thoth had reiterated again and again, she’s a good person. She believes and trusts both in the gods she’s studying with and also in humans, accepting their flaws and loving them still. Heck, she even pleads to the gods not to destroy humanity. And because they rely on her, Yui always needs to be the one who is mentally and emotionally strong. Due to her responsibility as the human representative, she takes it all on herself and smothers her own emotions, issues and pain for the sake of these individuals she love and care for.

Sure, she easily gets flustered when made a move on (or at the sight of half-naked guys); she also hates it when she’s being toyed around and can and will react with such a temper that it had once startled one of the gods. Sure, she gets passionate when things get rough or her voice of reason needs to be heard. But for the most part, she keeps her own deepest, most honest emotions to herself. In fact, she’s never once declared her own feelings to these people until the very end unless prodded, encouraged or pointed out; sometimes, not even ever. Her desire for these people to be happy is so great that she doesn’t mind her own feelings get side aside. And it’s with this kind of thinking that she has a tendency to become self-sacrificing, level-headed as she is. She’s fine with dying; there were at least three endings where she nearly died and she successfully did in one of those endings, much to the guy’s shock. She’s fine with her love being unrequited; her feelings had been unrequited in a number of endings. She’s fine with getting hurt. As she had once said in one of the routes, “as long as he’s happy and he can graduate, then my feelings don’t matter.” And in the end, whichever decision Yui makes (whether to people, it’s the correct decision or not), she stands by it even if it means her life.

History: LINK

( NOTE: I placed the history write-up on a different page because it got a bit cumbersome and long, due to the fact that there's no comprehensive wiki for the game since it's (1)just come out last October and (2)in Japanese. There are a number of route summaries and review in its tumblr tag and the official site is here with the main premise of the story.

I also have manga chapters which follows the basic storyline with a few differences. It's in Chinese but it currently has 7 chapters that covers up to Yui's canon point. Chapters are here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

If you need more resources, I'll be more than happy to provide! )

Canon Abilities or Powers: Yui's a normal person despite being summoned by Zeus to be the gods' tutor slash babysitter. She is however skilled in the art of iaijutsu and iaido, or sword-drawing. While not on the same level as Takeru's swordsmanship, she's nevertheless skilled enough to be acknowledged and given permission by the storm god to teach him more about kendo (the sport itself, not swordfighting). In one of the routes, she also joins the subduing of the Yamato-no-Orochi so her level of fighting does speak for itself.

Fairy Tale Role: Kaguya-hime ( THE TALE OF THE BAMBOO-CUTTER )
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
» CHARM. Kaguya-hime is known for her extraordinary beauty that has charmed even the Emperor of Japan himself albeit reluctantly. This ability to charm people will only work/take effect if Yui wills for it to work/take effect. At first or upon learning this ability, the charm will simply give the target a soothing or comfortable feeling towards her. As Yui masters this power, the ability or effect can range from simple attraction to madly falling in love with her. It's not permanent since Yui can remove its effect by "rejecting" the person she's put the charm on.
» GOLD ALLOWANCE (haha idk how to call it). Every day, if someone were to - oh I don't know - hack down one of the bamboos that surround the place where Yui will be staying/living, they'll find a small gold nugget (probably around 2 inches big?) in the center. Just one per day though. And this isn't something Yui would actively know unless someone finds out about it (by again, hacking down one of the bamboos) or an NPC informs her about it.

During full moons, Yui (as Kaguya-hime) gains an additional ability which reflect the events in the mythology.

» HAGOROMO. Kaguya-hime's feather robe or mantle which allows her to return back to the Capital of the Moon. Of course, Yui won't be able to fly to the moon but it will give her the power of flight. Nothing spectacular too, as she won't have the ability to carry passengers and will only be able to skim tree tops. Wearing this robe however will have her personality completely change into something colder and less compassionate and kind. The hagoromo will lose its effect with the setting of the moon.

Personal Items: Since she'll be coming from the hakoniwa, all that she'll have on her would be her school uniform and the sealed Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi (the sword will be in its palm-sized, pendant form).

First Person Sample:
( the post shows up neatly written except perhaps for the several crossed out sentences and a number of ink blots on the border which suggest either thoughtfulness or boredom. well, considering the content of the post, the writer is hardly bored in any way. )

KAGUYA-HIME

• found inside a bamboo by a bamboo cutter
• gave her suitors impossible tasks but some of the suitors died or didn't fulfill the task
• the Emperor also fell in love with her but she rejected him since she needed to return to the moon
• the tennin came to escort her back but she left the Emperor an elixir for immortality
• after she had left, the Emperor burned the elixir on top of Mount Fuji
could she be related to Tsukito-san?

HOW TO ACT AS KAGUYA-HIME

I think I'm missing a few details to the story. It's really been a while since I've last read this one so most likely I am. And given that I'm referred to as Kaguya-hime now - or at least, sitting in for her - I suppose it's only right that I learn more about her and her story.

( a blot of ink gradually spreads out on the page, evidence that yui's gone into deep thought. )

In any case, does anyone know where the library might be, if there is one? And if it's possible to bring out the books out here in the forest. ( there's a hastily written and scratched off i didn't think kaguya-hime lived in a mansion in the forest after that ) I guess I could just carry them if it's only going to be a volume or two. Any input on the story would be very much appreciated as well.

Third Person Sample:
Someone's stalking her.

Or perhaps it's simply her imagination. It's so easy to mistake that someone could be following her, given the various sounds in the forest. The rustling of trees, the creaking and breaking of branches and twigs, the footsteps of animals muffled by rotting leaves on the ground ... Those are typical sounds when one's in the forest - but that's not how it feels to her.

She's had this sort of feeling every time she would leave the town square and go back to the mansion. Most of the time, they were love-struck individuals stalking and asking for her hand in marriage each and every time. Exasperating as they are (and embarrassing too, considering they do it in the middle of the crowd), they often go away and leave her alone once she's turned them down. Yui sighs inwardly, feeling exhausted all of a sudden. What if it's one of them again?

But then, what if it's not? After all, this place has a similar feel to the garden, with its mythical creatures and things and God-knows-what. She wonders if it's something dangerous, something she needs to fight against. She wonders as well if she's at a disadvantage, with her lack of weapon (she left her practice sword at the mansion) and her severely cumbersome robes (the jūnihitoe was the only form of clothing other than her uniform in the mansion).

Yui stops walking, looking over her shoulder. There's no one there. There's nothing there except for a passing deer. Her hand rises to the pendant hanging around her neck, its edges bluntly cutting into her skin.

"Hello?" She calls out, her voice ringing firm. This isn't the time to show that she's apprehensive or scared, even. "Are you lost? Can I help you?"

IC
Name: Ranulf
Canon: Fire Emblem (Path of Radiance and its sequel Radiant Dawn are commonly collectively referred to as Fire Emblem Tellius)
Canon Point: Post-Radiant Dawn (Joint Ending with Ike)
Age: Unknown; laguz age much slower than humans, maturity-wise he seems to be in his late teens to early twenties
righthandcat: (looking monochrome)

[personal profile] righthandcat 2013-12-05 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
To put things into context first of all on why this guy has cat ears and a tail: they're naturally part of him, he is known as a laguz, which is a beastman of various types: divided into beast, bird, and dragon with sub-types underneath them. The feline beast tribe by nature has proud individuals who have an itch for excitement and competition. They can be somewhat arrogant and stubborn to listen to dissenting opinions, and are fierce and ambitious if not a little short-sighted. Ranulf is... basically the complete opposite of these. Wait, what? That's right, he himself acknowledges that while he highly values his relationship with his laguz brothers, he's somewhat of a fish out of water. Ranulf is one of the friendliest laguz in the entire game, openly but respectfully approaching beorc (normal "humans" in our terms) despite the common racism problem between them. He also expresses no disdain for the branded, the interbred beorc and laguz who seem to suffer the worst of the discrimination. Overall he's rather open-minded for the series proper.

He's a tease at times, often trying to get people to lighten up during the dark times of war. Unlike most other laguz of his tribe he doesn't itch for battle, and actually would much rather avoid it where possible. The idealist way he values peace and quiet and relaxation and for everyone to get along is a hint at his nature as a diplomat; it isn't elaborated how exactly he had gotten this role for his country Gallia, but Ranulf is an unusually patient and levelheaded sort which made him a good fit for talks with other nations' officials. He also serves as a trusted adviser to the king and his nephew, though the latter exasperates him often because his words were often disregarded. For the love of his country and his people though Ranulf would always put his own feelings and safety aside. Repeatedly. He's almost died at least three times within the two games alone.

Despite being different he is still a popular cat within his ranks of the Gallian army, two of his subordinates practically fought for his affections right in front of him when he wanted to give them an award for their hard work--much to his confusion. He's thoughtful of soldiers' families and conditions to fight, as shown in his support conversations with Lethe and Mordecai. His observance gives him a good grasp on people's hearts, and while friendly and non-judgmental he isn't so naive as to completely trust everyone he meets, which he tells to his good (and later best) friend Ike. His seemingly carefree ways mask his constant worrying of others, such as when the aforementioned friend Ike simply told Ranulf he trusted him completely, to which he violently retorted before storming off that it would only hurt him in the future if he didn't practice more hesitation.

Ranulf has admitted he's somewhat of a "mother cat" to Ike because of his tactlessness, and he also has a fondness for children, openly playing with them. Potentially he can lie to a little girl in RD that she'll be able to see her deceased mother soon after the war, telling the others around him he'll apologize to her for lying when the time is right, but for now the news would be too painful. Given the way laguz age so much slower than beorc this means his parental or big brotherly nature would encompass most normal people really. Bearing the weight of caring for others as individuals, families, and as far as countries as a whole makes him fairly closed off in regards to his own worries, which Ike notes and wants to correct. It's the one trace of laguz pride that has stuck with him in a way; being too responsible for his own good that it causes him no end of stress. But the work he does is worthwhile, and in his default Radiant Dawn ending he becomes known as the "Friend of Nations".

His lack of hesitation and strong resolve makes him a strong ally, and despite the multiple close shaves he's had with death he doesn't let it get him down. The worst he would do is bemoan his bad luck, but he also acknowledges it must partially be good since his fate's similarly been averted more than once. Once peace has been won though he also shows he doesn't always take the route which he can calculate: in his alternative ending of Radiant Dawn after seeing the king's successor crowned he yields to his thirst for more adventure and leaves the Tellius continent with Ike, saying "There's so much I haven't seen". That he could leave everything he had known and the country he nurtured for all his life to journey with a friend is a shocking twist to some, while others thought the guy could finally have a much-needed vacation.

History:
Plot
- Short version on the FE Wiki (PoR | RD)
- Long version on Serenes Forest
Character
- Ranulf on the FE Wiki
- Ranulf's Supports on the FE Wiki

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Despite appearances laguz aren't very capable in combat while untransformed. With focus and enough energy laguz are able to transform into larger versions of their animal forms for periods at a time to engage enemies in combat. The specialty of the cat laguz is speed, which makes Ranulf good at accurate strikes and dodging while sacrificing thicker defenses for when he actually does get hurt.

Laguz are also sensitive to the forces of chaos by instinct, similar to how animals in real life seem to detect whenever something is wrong. But it also seems to depend on the type of laguz as well as their personality. For Ranulf his hair stands on end, and in the worst levels he becomes dizzy and barely able to see. For this to be adapted into the game I imagine it won't take extreme levels anymore, but he'll still have a weakened sense of when something isn't right and become a little uncomfortable.

Ranulf is the retainer of the king of Gallia Caineghis but also his go-to diplomat, so he's got reasoning as an ability and a more than decent amount of charisma. His awareness of politics and importance of peace makes him hold his tongue before speaking, so he would likewise be able to foresee consequences of questionable actions against authority and public relations.

Fairy Tale Role: Master Cat (Puss in Boots) Which should I go with though, original title or more popular name? I'll leave it up to you mods!
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
As the Master Cat Ranulf can shapeshift to and from it in a way like he did in canon--except the end result is significantly smaller. A talking teal blue cat with a purple eye and a green one. In this form Ranulf can both walk on fours or upright, but becomes surprisingly more agile even with the shorter limbs and disproportionately strong. He needed these, of course, to get the attention of the king as well as regularly deliver to him good game. He also later uses the strength to carry off all of his master's clothes (... it makes sense in context) and to threaten townsfolk to go along with a certain charade. Yeah, he's not too happy about having to con and bully people. He also has to wield a tiny sword just for show, so that'll take some getting used to. Oh, and as a cat he can fit into anything, yup.

Personal Items: His clothes, a carving knife, some gold, and a lot of good luck. 8Ib

First Person Sample:
Look, I know not everyone's happy about their situations... but for now it'd probably be best to comply with these "roles" they've given us.  We're all stuck in an unknown world with unknown powers, and it wouldn't be very smart to fight against something we know nothing about. Besides... I don't know if it's just me, but I don't think they're bad people, whatever their purpose is. I hope I'm not wrong.
In the meantime, I'd like to get to know some of you. Even if most of us understandably want to go back from where we came from I don't think it'd be bad to make friends here too, you know? Cheers.
--Ranulf

Third Person Sample:

He was no stranger to having to assist someone to becoming king, but no matter how he wrapped his head around where the plot should take its course he just couldn't agree with it. For one, what was with all these morally ambiguous methods did he have to take to ensure the seat of the throne!? Secondly, was his fairytale-ly master even someone who should be king? A guy who has literally no experience in leadership makes the future of the kingdom looks bleak... And while it was technically not any of his business how the kingdom turns out after his role is complete, he just didn't have the heart to treat the matter so lightly. --And he had just freed himself from the role of royal adviser too. To think he'd have to get back to doing it so soon out of his own sense of justice...

Ranulf reclined in his seat with a long sigh, eyebrows pressed together in worry. Taking a couple of naps hasn't comforted his train of thought at all, and he already decided he wouldn't try escape this fate until he learned more. Inside though, he does feel a pang of... not resentment, but what was it? Unease? If they were stricter it'd be like powers above dictating what he should do... Just as some of his laguz brothers had suffered as slaves in Begnion, and worse so the case of the goddess Ashera who decided all life at that present was no longer worthy of living. He frowned. The more he thought, the more he upset himself and wanted to jump to conclusions. He couldn't let this go on; hadn't he decided he would be optimistic?

An ear of his twitches as he hears a faint scuttering in the distance, breaking the silence. Slowly, he leans forward and gets up. After contemplating a few more seconds, he shrugs. "Might as well hunt some rodents to get my mind off it."

Mei | Pokemon (Gameverse)

[personal profile] direhit 2013-12-05 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
IC
Name: Mei
Canon: Pokemon Black/White 2. Specifically, I'm taking her from White 2
Canon Point: Just after the credit roll/after beating the Elite 4 and returning home.
Age: 15 Age is never mentioned in canon, but all trainers can start their journey at the age of 10. Judging by her appearance, she looks older than that, so I'm settling for 15.

Personality:
Mei (or "Rosa" as she's known by her chosen English name as well) is a silent protagonist in the games. Though she does have a little bit of dialogue in the male route of the games, where she isn't the protagonist, a lot of the details of her personality are up to the mun. As such, this is my own interpretation of the character.

Mei seems like a pretty easy character to figure out. She's perky, bubbly and almost always has a smile on her face. Considered something like an eternal optimist, she's the kind of girl to see the world's metaphorical glass always half-full as opposed to half-empty. Able to see the good in others, this trait allows her to remain level-headed, kind and willing to take chances. One prime example would be comparing her behaviour towards the old Team Plasma members and how her best friend, Hugh, acts towards them. Whereas the boy is more rash, brash, and easily leads to conclusions that the former members are still evil, Mei stays behind to listen to their words and pleas for help. Even though her very best friend is vocal on his strong opinions, she makes her own opinions and choices without outside influences. In that way, she's pretty unbiased, a trait that's hard to come by for someone her age.

That does lead into her willingness to help. Mei might be a little naive in her views of the world and how she reacts and acts in some circumstances, and she doesn't seem to have any alternate or hidden motives for trying to help people. It just simply seems that Mei likes to help people for the sake of helping others. After all, if you have the chance and opportunity to do so, why not? Sometimes though, this can lead to her being a little, well, annoying and persistent, not knowing when exactly she's bothering people and when she should be leading subjects alone. But she is a girl that means well, and her heart's in the right place.

And when around others, her heart is certainly noticeable since she practically wears it on her sleeve. Mei can be a patient, helpful, cheerful young girl, but she certainly can't hide all her emotions. This could be the one thing that allows her to connect with others more easily; she's very real with her emotions and how she interacts with others. It really does beg the question of how real she is though, since she is a rather successful actress at PokeStar Studios, but seeing as those are less realistic circumstances, she is able to hide them more than some other people.

Which brings us to her two major passions: Pokemon and acting. Pokemon training is something she has always wanted to do in her life, and when faced with the chance to being her own adventure with Hugh, Mei practically jumps at the chance and continues to remain enthusiastic about traveling and meeting new people and Pokemon throughout her journey. Acting, however, was something she fell into, an opportunity that she was approached with after some battles in Virbank. Regardless, Mei ran into the movie business whole heartedly after just a little bit of advice and guidance and after gaining the trust of the man who runs the facility. What Mei's passions are are strong and fierce, even when she's fraught with new opportunities and choices to make. Her enthusiasm and willingness to do new things is almost unparallelled, and fits in well with her outgoing personality.

Although it can be said that she can sometimes she can be a little too passionate. Despite her cute outwardly appearance and bubbly personality, Mei's something of a different girl when actually faced with a battle. She doesn't cheat or is absolutely brutal, but for such a cutesy girl, her strategies in battle are intense, and she very rarely, if at all, backs down from a challenge. She puts her whole heart into trusting her Pokemon's abilities in battle, and relies a little more on offense than defensive strategies. Of course, she's not completely careless, and her Pokemon are her friends as well as her teammates, so using items to help heal them is not something that's completely beyond her.

Yet, for her intensity and powerful passions, she's still a teenage girl. And when faced with extremely dangerous situations, like being frozen solid by Kyurem under Ghestis' command, she will freeze up in fear. Some things she can handle better, but if push comes to shove and she can't handle what she's faced with, Mei will doubt herself and may be paralyzed with fear. She can recover, and do so enough to overcome obstacles, but may need a little bit of support from others around her. There's only so much stress that one girl can handle.

Overall, she's a very simple girl in her views. She loves exploring, with a natural curiousity to discover new things, and honestly, truly cares deeply for other around her, whether they be Pokemon or human. It might be a naive and childish approach to life, but it is her driving force and what gives her strength and courage to face whatever she can head on.

History: Pokemon Black/White for supplementary background information - Black/White 2 - Unova Region History - Mei's Tiny History

Canon Abilities or Powers: None! Mei's a perfectly normal human being. She just carries a Pokemon Trainer license!

Fairy Tale Role: Alice (Alice in Wonderland)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Alice sadly has no specific abilities of her own, except for her wild curiousity. However, some of Wonderland's size changing will be affecting her role, as Alice questions her identity throughout the story because she keeps constantly changing all the time. Mei's ability to adapt to nearly any serious or acting situation allows her to change in the same way. Thus, consuming foods or drinks can allow her to alter her size, either by shrinking or growing larger. It doesn't work all the time or with everything Mei eats, so it'll be something she needs to work on.

I know that this is not so much of an ability or power in itself, but size changing is a huge factor and theme in the original story. I'd like to incorporate it as a sort of ability, although one not entirely under her control, if at all possible.

I'm probably not the only one who thinks this is all kind of weird, right?

I mean, some of it's exciting. The whole new world thing is pretty amazing! I never knew that there was such a thing as other worlds outside of our own. That's pretty incredible, and it would be a lot of fun to explore all the options and places and see what's new or different. For example, practically no one here has heard of Pokemon before, and that's pretty much impossible back home! Everyone knows of or about Pokemon. It's always felt like a universal thing! Here, Hibi just gets the odd look from the locals... and the occasional compliment c:

At least when she's not towering over me when I shrink...

So I guess I'm kind of curious. How different is this place to you guys? Anything comforts missing from home?

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: Nope!

IC
Name: Apple White
Canon: Ever After High (specifically the book series)
Canon Point: Directly after the first book ends.
Age: 15

Personality:

Apple White is the perfect fairytale princess: she's beautiful, she's charming, and she can wear a crown with unmatched style. As the daughter of Snow White, and the next in a long line of Snow Whites, she seems like the perfect successor to her mother's tale and a beloved future queen.

And, more or less, she is. Apple is largely what she appears to be on the surface: a kind, considerate girl who puts others first and is always there to say a good word and lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. She prides herself on her sense of responsibility, and she always wants to do what's best for everyone - but unfortunately, even good intentions don't always turn out right, and what Apple thinks is best doesn't always work out that way.

Growing up, she was always the prettiest, most popular princess in school, fawned over by her family, teachers, and practically everyone else. It can be hard to believe that the world doesn't revolve around you when everyone acts like it does, and while she's hardly rotten, Apple is plenty spoiled. She has a lot of difficulty with the idea that other people don't always think the way she does, that they might have different values and priorities, and just because she wants something to work doesn't mean it will. To put it another way: Apple is the kind of person who will, in an honest attempt to be helpful, redecorate your room according not to what she likes, or what you actually like, but what she thinks you should like. And then she won't understand why this didn't make you happy.

Despite her often misguided attempts, Apple really does treasure helping others above all else (even if her definition of "helping" is sometimes "helping you see the error of your ways and do things right"). After all, she's going to be a queen someday, in charge of a whole kingdom full of subjects who will look to her for guidance, and she takes that responsibility with utmost seriousness. She wants to be a good ruler, loved for more than just being another beautiful Snow White.

Not that the Snow White part isn't important. No, that's the most important part of all - not because it means she'll be queen (although that's a nice bonus), not because of the Prince Charming (who's actually kind of a jerk), but because it's her destiny. From birth, Apple has been told exactly how her life will go: evil queen, poison apple, so on and so forth, happily ever after. Her entire future has been planned out, neat and precise, everything set in stone and certain as the sun will rise.

Apple likes certainty. Certainty is safe. Unpredictability is dangerous, something to fear; all of her life she's clung to the knowledge of her destiny, because that means she knows exactly how things will turn out. It means she doesn't have to worry about being hurt or rejected or any other great unknowns in life, because her story has already been written. Any other hardship, Apple can stand up to with a smile on her face, but that dark, horrible fear of uncertainty, of not knowing what will happen…that frightens her more than anything else.

History:

Wiki links: Character page | Book page

It's not mentioned on either page for some reason, but the book details an incident from when Apple was a very small princess, when she tipped over into a well and nearly drowned. Although she was rescued with no more than a few scrapes, the terror of not knowing if she would survive left a resounding impact on her and is a major reason why she clings so tightly to her predestined story. It also gave her a fear of drowning and an aversion to being submerged or surrounded by water.

Canon Abilities or Powers: Apple can bring out the hero in everyone - all she has to do is smile, bat her eyelashes, maybe sing a few bars of a happy little song…and everyone from people to fuzzy woodland creatures are ready and willing to help her in any way they can. She could charm a goblin out of eating her with just a smile and a few kind words; throw in a cheerful song (and maybe a few friendly pigeons and chipmunks for harmony) and people start to look for nearby dragons and ogres to slay in her name.

(It's not 100% clear in canon if this is magic or not, so for the sake of rp-easiness, I'm gonna go with it being a kind of magic-enhanced super-charisma that gets nerfed with all the other magic abilities. Poor Apple, she's going to be surprised when people don't automatically jump to her aid anymore.)

On the non-magical side, Apple has had two years' worth of professional fairytale princessing training, from proper kingdom management to curtseying without losing your crown, not to mention a lifetime of royalty grinding it all in further. She has grace and poise up the wazoo (or whatever the princess equivalent of a wazoo is); she can hike over a mountain without getting all gross and dirty or having a single curl come out of place. Oh, and of course she has flawlessly smooth skin that never burns, a lovely singing voice, and the ability to dance 'til midnight without so much as breaking a sweat (or a heel). She is a fairytale princess.

Fairy Tale Role: The Evil Queen (Snow White)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: The Evil Queen is best known for two things: mirrors and, of course, poison.

Mirrors - If a mirror contains a spirit/magical being/etc., Apple will be able to sense it, call it forth, and speak to it (although it may not necessarily be willing to do what she says).

Poison - Apple will find herself able to poison small objects just by touching them - most anything will work, although fruit takes it best. If someone ingests the poison (such as by pricking themselves, eating it, or otherwise entering it into their system somehow), they develop symptoms similar to food poisoning and a persistent wooziness. Fortunately this wears off in an hour or two, although it may not be soon enough for the unfortunate victim. (I'd like her to be a little haphazard with this ability at first before slowly gaining conscious control over it, shed a tear in advance for all the poor poisoned NPCs.)

Personal Items: her Legacy Day outfit, the accompanying handbag (containing her glasses, a spare makeup compact, and lots and lots of cried-on tissues), and her pet snow-fox, Gala.

First Person Sample:

[ The top quarter or so of the page is taken up entirely by two extremely large words, written in an overly-enthusiatic hand and almost more flourish than actual letters: ]

Dearest Diary,

[ …it seems Apple hasn't quite figured out yet that other people can read this book. Has she even bothered reading the other pages? …no, no she hasn't. ]

Don't tell anyone, but this nasty, awful, wicked-as-a-witch trick has managed to get even worse! I still don't know who's behind this - even Raven wouldn't be so viciously mean-spirited! Probably! - but when I find out, they are going to be royally sorry!

It's bad enough that everyone is calling me "your wickedness" and "dark majesty" and everything (so not charming) but when I got so tired of it and asked where I could just lay down, they were all like "in the castle, venomous one" (sigh) and brought me to this…place. This gross, smelly, dark, wicked-witch place that isn't anything at all like a proper princess castle!! There's all these spiky towers and it's cold and there's bars on the windows! I tried to fling them open artfully to let in the sunshine and fresh air but they didn't budge! And there isn't even any wifi!

[ Apple's handwriting has gotten a little shaky at this point, but here it returns to its normal flourishy script. ]

I promised myself I was going to be the bigger person here and not let this awful prank get to me, and I just have to keep at it. Once they see that I can keep up the positive, can-do attitude that got me elected Royal Student Council head, I'm sure they'll give up and stop this ridiculousness! Then I can go home and get on with the story I'm supposed to be doing, and it'll be back on track and all roses and sunshine again! They can't keep this up forever-after!

...Maybe I'll redecorate. This place could use a sense of royal style. I'm sure some fresh flowers would look enchanting in the rusty cauldrons!

Third Person Sample:

Apple's toes were starting to hurt. Maybe she should've taken off her heels before she'd climbed up onto the chair? Or maybe it had something do with the chair being stacked on top of another chair, which was on top of a decorative side table.

Well, she'd be done in just a tick. A convenient spike jutted out from the ceiling in just the perfect place for the charming bunting she'd whipped up out of a bedsheet. It wasn't the cheery apple-red she'd hoped for, really more of a bloody-crimson shade (complete with suspicious stains), but it added a splash of color to the room and every little bit helped.

The smell of freshly-baked cookies filled her delicate nose and made her slightly-less-delicate stomach rumble, which in turn made her wobble a little more on the chair. She'd forgotten about her cookies! She'd had to rig up a makeshift oven over the fireplace, but the delectable scent was really doing wonders to improve the atmosphere already. Maybe this wouldn't be such a fairy-fail after all!

She reached up, stretched out, hooked the fabric on the spike, trying to stand on the very tips of her aching toes -

- but even princesses have trouble with heels sometimes, as Apple suddenly found out the hard way. Down she went admist ripping fabric and splintering furniture, scraping her knee and landing with a painful thunk on her poor backside. Her bunting lay on the floor, totally ruined, as her cookies began to burn.

"Oh - curses!" she swore, looking in a panic at the large mirror that took up almost half the opposite wall. All was well: her hair was still perfectly in place, her makeup intact, her crown not even an inch askew. Apple relaxed.

(For a moment - just a moment - she thought she saw something else in the mirror, but it was gone even before she'd finished registering it. A trick of the light, perhaps.)

She picked herself up, trying her best to be graceful despite her half-crushed toes, and rescued the cookies before they set the entire room on fire. Well, they were a bit - crisper - than she'd meant for them to come out, and she'd been aiming to get the bunting on the walls instead of the floor, but…she was a Snow White, gosh darnit, no matter what anyone in this awful place said, and a Snow never let a little mess get between her and her happily-ever-after.

Besides, maybe someone here liked half-burnt cookies.

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: No

IC
Name: Zero Kiryuu
Canon: Vampire Knight
Canon Point: Chapter 50
Age: 18

Personality:
Zero's personality is shaped by his life experiences and although he has a base 'core' of personality traits, his actions and motivations will often change depending on where he is on the timeline of the series. Due to his past experiences, Zero is a character that does not give his trust easily. Living with Yuuki for four years, she didn't realize he was a vampire until he'd actually attacked her for the first time. A man of very few words, he had attempted to tell her about the fact that he was a vampire, but Yuuki's fear of vampires had changed his mind and he chose to keep the fact to himself. Because of this, he never told her that he was from a family of Vampire Hunters or that he had a twin brother. This basic information about himself is something he kept from someone he actually trusted. Getting personal information from him is like pulling teeth, but he opened up to her more as his secrets were revealed and their relationship got closer.

Throughout the series, Zero has seen the world as often black or white, all vampires are bad and there is nothing wrong with killing them. He said that the only reason he was a guardian was to discover the best way to kill them. Hatred is a strong word, but it's definitely the way that Zero felt about all vampires. This included the way he perceived Yuuki after her returning to her Pureblood state. He had trouble seeing the gray of the situation and his trust in her shattered as trusting a pureblood is not something he'd ever believe he'd be capable of doing. In fact, Zero went as far as to consider 'Vampire' Yuuki and 'Human' Yuuki as two separate entities in order to get himself through the trauma of that day. In Zero's mind, the Yuuki he knew and grew up with actually died that day leaving behind a shell of monster that walked around with her face.

Through the events that unfolded with Kaname and Zero's lofty position in the Hunters Association, Zero found himself back alongside Yuuki in a familiar position of being by her side in an alliance between her and the Hunter's Association to gain the strength she needed as a Kuran Pureblood to lead the vampires and eventually stop Kaname. Little by little that wall he'd built to protect himself came crumbling down again as the pureblood that walked around with the face of the woman he loved--acted like her too--forcing an internal struggle to face the fact that he was in fact in love with a pureblood. This realization may not be able to come to light as just as he was finally at a point to admit that there was no difference between the "two" Yuuki's--his memory is forcefully altered to remove her completely from it by the very hands of the girl he was struggling to accept.

Zero Kiryuu is an 18 year old workaholic. Recently in canon, he was attending school with the Day Class, shadowing the President of the Hunter's Association in order to learn the job for when he takes it over upon graduation, does his normal hunting duties at night and has also taken on the added position of playing 'prefect' for the night class vampires and ensuring everything goes smoothly at school. He rarely has time to sleep and had to be ordered to take a vacation and got yelled at for returning early from it. To say that Zero is a hard worker is an understatement. He literally works himself to exhaustion.

Which is a complete contradiction to his school life prior to the vampires return to Kurosu Academy where he skips class by sleeping in the stables or chose not to attend for a year. In fact the only reason he attended during the past year away from Yuuki was because he was forced to by members of the Hunter's Association that were higher than him and were his guardians.

Zero is actually considered a genius and is a natural at everything he touches, but unlike some of the other characters in the series, it seems to be treated as something of a secondary trait of his. Zero is very modest about his intelligence and athletic abilities, preferring to blend in with everyone else instead of stand out as the protege he actually is. This likely has
something to do with his childhood and his twin brother Ichiru. The guilt Zero feels for 'stealing' the powers that rightfully belonged to Ichiru when they were in utero which resulted in his brother being born sickly and unable to be cured by human means resulted in Zero attempting to blend in instead of standing out of the crowd in everything he does. He would much rather not participate in sports or school than stand out.

Zero has had very tragic and traumatic experiences that have left him with some personal contradictions. As a child, Zero questioned why they killed vampires and his brother Ichiru even questioned if Zero would be able to succeed in his duties as a hunter because of his kindness. After everything that has happened to him, it's obvious he no longer has any issues with that. In fact, Zero is feared and known among vampire society for his ability and coldheartedness in dealing with vampires and his unparalleled abilities to take on vampires of any level, which is extremely rare. Yet that kindness remains, a fact that is expressed by Yuuki, even if he's threatened her life several times and tries to treat her with distance and professionalism--when faced with an illusion of Zero shooting her she doesn't even waver in her belief that Zero would not do that. Even when he pulls a gun on her upon waking without his memories of her, she makes a comment on how he's kindhearted and not a threat to her.

Zero can be extremely loyal to those he cares about, willing to given his very life to Yuuki and living only for her sake at one time during the series. The same Yuuki who he later constantly threatens to kill after she was returned to her true form of a pureblood vampire. Still, he's saved her life several times, is shown to miss her presence and treats her differently from the rest of the purebloods--no matter how much he denies it and turns around and threatens her life to emotionally shove her away after she attempts to reconnect with him. That bond of loyalty remains.

In order to survive, Zero has forced himself to see the world in black and white. There is good and bad. He genuinely sees himself as protecting humanity and desires for no one to ever experience the same things he has had to experience, to be used as a tool in a game between pureblood vampires. His experiences have clouded his judgement but he attempts to play by the rules, only following orders and never acting outside the boundaries that have been set for him. His way of choosing to play the game is by biding his time and waiting...he's patient and waiting for the order that allows him to act. He's has goals but lacks ambition to achieve them,
choosing rather to let things happen naturally instead of making movements himself. To him, this is fair--a lot more fair than the choices he was ever given that got him to this point.

In reality, Zero is extremely emotionally unstable. In order to survive during the year away from Yuuki, he drank from his kills. The blood of Level E vampires are filled with madness and made things even more difficult for him. Still Zero refuses to allow anyone close enough to see how damaged he really is and does an amazing job hiding his every emotion from the world.

History:
Zero Wikia

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Zero was born a Vampire Hunter, which is a genetic trait passed down through the bloodline. Due to the circumstances of his birth as a twin of the Hunter descendents, Zero stole most of his twin's abilities as well, making him an extremely powerful hunter at even a young age, which we witness during childhood flashbacks . These powers include the ability to naturally detect vampires (sort of like an internal GPS), slightly elevated healing abilities, the ability to wield anti-vampire weapons and place anti-vampire barriers.

Zero began his training at a young age, providing him with the skills and knowledge to utilize various weapons ranging from swords, staffs, hand to hand combat and firearms. He is an especially talented sharpshooter, holding the ability to cut a straight line in a piece of paper by lining up his bullet holes one by one.

By becoming the very thing his people hunted, one might think it would become problematic for Zero and make things more difficult for him. Emotionally, yes, it has been a struggle for him for many reasons but one thing Zero has difficulty admitting is the fact that becoming a vampire has huge assets in terms of his powers. He was a powerful hunter to begin with,
but his vampire powers have only strengthened his abilities. Adding inhuman strength, speed, hearing, healing smell and the power to use vampire hunting weapons at full strength--something no other hunter has the ability to do.

The combination of the two has created a very powerful and unusual being that the boundaries of powers are untried and unknown. Zero is a hunter who can do things hunters can't do and a vampire who can do things vampires can't do. But both seem to compliment each other and make him something entirely of his own.

Add in the fact that he devoured the blood of his brother to complete the fragmentation of the hunters curse, received blood from Kaname Kuran to stabilize him from falling to level E, drank from Yuuki for months before she returned to her pureblood state and drank from Sara Shirabuki to gain power to go against Kaname later--the power-up he has been given is quite substantial and he is now arguably the most powerful character in the series with the ability to resist the pureblood compulsion and take down a pureblood. Getting shot by his own weapon is something that should almost kill him but it doesn't do much damage. He is the only character that is not a pureblood vampire that has been shown capable of shattering glass by his mere emotions going out of control.

Vampire Hunter weapons are somewhat sentient as they are created from the furnace that a pureblood sacrificed her life to grant a group of humans the ability to kill vampires by throwing her heart into the flames. Zero's weapon, Bloody Rose, is a gun that is over 10,000 years old and one of the very first weapons created. For most hunters, it would only shoot anti-vampire bullets. For Zero it creates vines that fuse with his body and can be cast out to devour even the most powerful of vampires.

Fairy Tale Role: Soldier from The Tinderbox by Hans Christian Anderson
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
The soldier, like Zero, is used to fighting in battles with the assistance of weapons. In the fairytale, the weapon of choice is a sword which he uses to kill people that are against him.

The tinderbox the soldier steals enables the user to call forth any number of three vicious hounds of various sizes. The sizes are described by the size of the animal's eyes: teacups, dinner plates and windmills. Strike once, you get one dog. Strike twice you get two dogs. Strike three times, you get all three dogs. They do the bidding of the person who summoned them. The request has to be specific, bringing gold from the tree and retrieving or returning the princess from her tower, or even discarding of those who wish to oppose him.

Obviously the results of this depend on the holder on if they are for good or evil. Zero isn't a selfish person and he certainly isn't the type to destroy others for the sake of his own agenda. But he's not afraid to fight and use the tools at his disposal to enable him when necessary in situations. He's more likely to use it to aid someone or ...because he has a bad sense of humor and would find amusement in it later on--much later probably.

Personal Items:
His anti-vampire gun-Bloody Rose--which will be just a normal gun I would assume.
His horse (and bff)-White Lily
Pack of blood tablets

IC
Name: Mogget
Canon: Old Kingdom trilogy
Canon Point: Near the end of the first book, Sabriel, when Mogget returns Sabriel's sword and bell to her in Ancelstierre.
Age: Unknown, probably over 2000 years. But he looks like an ordinary adult cat.

Personality: Always self-serving, Mogget doesn't really care about anybody else. He looks out for himself first and foremost and won't help others unless forced to or if there's something in it for him. In an ideal world, he'd leave others alone and they would leave him alone too. In reality, this policy backfired on him in the past and he's been paying for it ever since. Once he was the Eighth Bright Shiner, a powerful Free Magic entity. Now he's a servant of the Abhorsen, bound by magical means.

Mogget is the kind of servant who helps because he must, but that doesn't mean he has to be enthusiastic about it. Or all that helpful, even. He's sarcastic, sly and frequently condescending. His attitude tends to be long-suffering and he's prone to lecturing others at length, both traits inherited from long years of telling Abhorsens what they should already know. He seems to have a fondness for proclaiming doom and gloom. He's one of life's cynics.

He's sharp-eyed and sharp-witted, quick to observe what other characters themselves may not realize. For example, he teases Sabriel about her attraction to Touchstone. He likes to needle people. It's a source of amusement and one small way of levelling the playing field.

Being bound in a corporeal form for so long, the feline lifestyle has imprinted itself upon him. He loves fish, enjoys chasing mice and displays a lot of general cat-like behaviour. He's even affected by catnip. Mogget indulges these feline desires at whim. For example, he doesn't actually need to eat, he just likes to.

All in all, Mogget may seem like a harmless if slightly grumpy cat. However, he isn't entirely diminished. Resigned to his situation he may be, but there is still the Free Magic being lurking inside him and thus the hope of regaining his freedom is always there. The Abhorsens are rightly wary of Mogget for that very reason. If freed, he would try to kill them. Centuries of imposed slavery have only increased Mogget's appetite for revenge. Unbound, he'll seek out anyone who commanded him in his bound form, torture them slowly, then kill them. Anyone he has ever had a grudge against won't be safe either, and Mogget has a long memory for grudges.

This specific desire for revenge aside, Mogget isn't really evil. His default setting is neutral. He might be malicious towards those he doesn't like, but it tends to be reactive rather than active. He doesn't go looking for trouble. He's not out to make enemies and his instinct is to run rather than fight. Anyway, he'd rather have a nap than waste his time making others miserable, though he's unlikely to waste his time being friendly either.

After all, there are better things for him to do. Mice to hunt, fish to eat. Despite the long years, increasing weariness, and general suspicion of everyone around him, it is possible to earn his respect. Respect his autonomy and Mogget will do likewise. It also helps if you feed him lots of fish.

History: Mogget's history goes back to the very beginning, when all magic was Free Magic and Free Magic beings roamed all over the world. Of these, there were Nine Bright Shiners that were the most powerful of all. The Eighth was Yrael, now known as Mogget.

The most powerful of the Shiners was the Ninth: Orannis, the Destroyer. Orannis lived up to his name by attempting to destroy the world, forcing the other Bright Shiners to stand against him. But Yrael refused to take sides. Though he admired the Destroyer's power from afar, he wouldn't ally with it. It's not in his nature to wantonly destroy. And he refused to ally with the other Seven Bright Shiners, because quite frankly they were going on a suicide mission trying to stop the Destroyer and Yrael preferred being alive and whole, thank you very much. He couldn't care less what happened to everything else as long as it didn't affect him. He just wanted to stay out of the whole thing. And so Orannis was defeated by the Seven.

It was the Seven too who created the Charter, which largely replaced Free Magic. Now, Yrael wanted absolutely nothing to do with the Charter. To infuse himself into the Charter as the Seven had done would mean literally losing himself, and Yrael didn't want that either. So he ran away. But the power of the Seven proved too strong for him in the end. They caught him and he was bound by Charter magic and made to serve the magic he so despised.

There are five Great Charters which are the source of all Charter magic in the Old Kingdom. Two of these are objects: the Great Stones and the Wall which separates the Old Kingdom from the non-magical world beyond. Three of them are bloodlines of people in the Old Kingdom who are sworn to serve the Charter: the royal line, the Clayr (witches who see into the future) and the Abhorsens, necromancers who wield magical bells to protect the kingdom from the Dead. It is this last bloodline that Mogget was made to serve.

Since then, Mogget has served many generations of Abhorsens. He doesn't actually get out all that much. Most of the time, he's kept at Abhorsen's House. There he presumably spent most of his time sleeping, eating and occasionally offering advice when asked (and sometimes when not, because in his view, Abhorsens are frequently stupid).

Things changed two hundred years ago when a prince of the royal line turned against the Charter. His name was Rogir, but when he became a Free Magic sorcerer and necromancer, he started calling himself Kerrigor. The power of the Charter restricted Kerrigor's influence, so Kerrigor sought to break it. He almost succeeded. He destroyed two of the Great Stones, thus corrupting one of the Great Charters. The Queen and all her daughters were killed, destroying all that was left of the royal line, another Great Charter. (Someone of royal blood did survive, but he was trapped as a lump of wood for two hundred years so he wasn't much use in the interim.)

Mogget was there in the first battle against Kerrigor when the Queen was killed and the Great Stones broken. Since then, he has worked alongside each Abhorsen to try and stop Kerrigor and help restore the Old Kingdom. However, although Kerrigor has become one of the Greater Dead, no Abhorsen has ever been able to send him to his final rest.

With the Charter weakened and no king or queen, the Old Kingdom went into decline. There followed an Interregnum; a regent ruled for the next one hundred and eighty years, and for the twenty after that no-one ruled. The Old Kingdom during the events of the first book, Sabriel, has no government and no law. And the corruption of the Charter spread. It affected Mogget too. He is literally unable to speak of the corruption or the Great Charters or anything that might be remotely useful to Sabriel, to her great frustration.

Which brings us to the fifty third Abhorsen, Sabriel. Brought up outside the Old Kingdom in the non-magical country of Ancelstierre, she returns to the Old Kingdom to search for her missing father. Mogget guides her to the kingdom's capital city where they find her father trapped in Death. (Death being a place that necromancers can step in and out of at will.) Sabriel rescues her father, but it's too late for him; he's spent too long in Death and isn't long for this world. He tells her to find Kerrigor, the Greater Dead enemy that trapped him, in Ancelstierre. Sabriel flees while her father and Mogget hold off the Dead surrounding them.

Sabriel's father unleashes Mogget's true form and his last command before he dies is to tell Mogget to take his sword and bell to Sabriel. Mogget does so, returning just as Sabriel is being attacked by Kerrigor in Ancelstierre.

Canon Abilities or Powers: As Abhorsen's servant, Mogget is bound in the shape of a cat. Like any ordinary cat, he has excellent night vision, can scratch, hunt, climb etc. Unlike an ordinary cat, he can also talk, read, write, sketch, and reach the top of ladders without anyone knowing how he did it. He doesn't need to eat, although that certainly won't stop him from doing so. He can shapeshift. In the books, he's shown taking the form of a cat and an albino dwarf-man. It's implied that he can or could take other forms too.

But the only thing keeping Mogget a servant is the collar he wears. If another character removes Mogget's collar, his true form will be unleashed. And Mogget's true form is Yrael, the Eighth Bright Shiner, a Free Magic being of ancient magic and incredible power. Unbound, he can change shape, fly and cast Free Magic, which corrodes and burns everything it touches. He can incinerate someone with a single touch. His favourite element is fire, which he can create and manipulate as he pleases. He can shroud an area in darkness, or shine brightly to light it up. He can also use magic to slow down or cushion objects.

He's nearly invulnerable in his unbound form. No physical attack can harm him. A weapon spelled by magic would be able to strike him, but would only slow him down. Only the most powerful magic can truly harm him; anything less would be absorbed.

Obviously, the lesson here is not to remove Mogget's collar. But if you do happen to be so foolish, the collar has an inbuilt safety mechanism. Whenever Mogget serves a new Abhorsen, he coughs up a silver ring set with a ruby. This ring is the key to stopping his unbound form. It will grow hot and expand so that it can be thrown over the Free Magic being and, with the help of the Abhorsen's bells, bind him again. In this way, it becomes safer for the Abhorsen to unleash his true form in a time of dire need, knowing that he can be bound again.

Fairy Tale Role: Genie of the Lamp (Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: As a powerful djinni, Mogget will be able to change shape, become invisible, and travel anywhere almost instantly. He's a spirit made from fire, so his natural form (aka the one he'll use to scare people) will resemble his Free Magic form. In the story, he builds a palace for Aladdin, brings him food on gold and silver plates, and piles him with truly ridiculous amounts of jewels, money and slaves. Most of that is done within seconds; the palace takes him a day. It seems he can grant (almost) any wish.

...But with phenomenal cosmic power there comes a catch, of course. This being the lamp. Mogget will be slave to the lamp and therefore slave to whomever holds the lamp. To limit him while no one holds the lamp, I'll say that he can't make use of his powers other than shape-changing/invisibility/quick travel, except to fulfil the will of his master. So no conjuring himself a palace. He can also be banished inside the lamp by its master; rubbing the lamp will call him out again. Otherwise he'll wander around as he pleases except when summoned by the power of the lamp. Only the master of the lamp can set him free.

Last thing: I won't use these powers to break the game. Mogget won't be able to send anyone home or bring anyone from another world into the game, because his powers only operate within the confines of the fairy-tale world. Nor will he be able to mess around with time or undo the magic of entities more powerful than himself.

Personal Items: One red leather collar, set with a small metal bell. It changes depending on his shape e.g. in human form, it's a belt he wears around his waist. This is a magical item from his canon that I'd like to adapt for this setting, to be a physical marker of his status as slave of the lamp. It can't be removed except by the master of the lamp in order to free him.

One dirty old copper oil lamp, which will appear with Mogget when he drops into the game. He'll be so thrilled when he learns what it is.

First Person Sample: [Written to himself as a personal journal. Not intended for anyone else to read.]

This taste of free will is almost painful. If only I could be rid of the lamp, I might enjoy living out my days here. Having learned the story, I suppose it's only a matter of time before my freedom is lost to some oaf cleaning a dirty lamp. The best I can do is hide it.

The magic here is unfamiliar, but seems as far-ranging as the Charter. There may yet be some way of freeing myself of the thing. Will continue to explore.

Third Person Sample: Here's a Dear Mun post. Or some prose:

The sun was setting as Mogget and his master made their way through the streets of Sindle. Mogget was tired and he yawned widely as the Abhorsen trudged down the main street. It had been a routine if difficult day. Flush out the Dead lurking in the forest, banish them, then back to the town for some rest and recuperation. Mogget lay wrapped around the Abhorsen's neck like a furry scarf, watching with wary eyes as the light dwindled. He was thinking of the inn, and a warm pillow, and sleep. The Abhorsen paused at a street junction, apparently considering, then turned left. Mogget pressed his claws lightly into his master's neck.

"Ouch! If you're going to do that, you can jump down and walk."

"Going back to the alehouse, are we?" Mogget whispered. "I should have known."

"I think I deserve a drink after today, don't you?"

"You said that yesterday. And the day before that. And the day before that."

"Shut up and follow me."

The Abhorsen shrugged the cat off and Mogget leapt down to the ground. The world was all legs down here, darker and dirtier. Still, he was used to that. Mogget followed his master's heels nimbly, high stepping over the puddles. Then he stopped, twitching his nose as they arrived at the alehouse. The sound of rowdy laughter drifted outside, along with a strong smell of alcohol and sweat. The cat shuddered. It was bad enough that his master had turned to drink without him dragging Mogget along too.

"I refuse to go in there," he said. "I absolutely refuse. The place is disgusting, and smelly, and-"

He was backing away as he said it, along the line of the alehouse's walls, when there was a cry of "Watch out!", and all at once the sky poured. For one terrible long moment, the world was freezing and wet and horrible. Mogget yowled, streaking back towards the Abhorsen, whose frown had turned into a laugh. No apology drifted from the window above - nobody cared about a cat, after all, but it was the Abhorsen's amusement that really ruined Mogget's day. Cold and drenched, the cat stared up at his master and hissed.

"I hate this town!"

The Abhorsen was still laughing, and Mogget would have liked nothing more than to scratch him to death, but he was forbidden from properly harming his master. He settled for shaking his fur, scattering water droplets onto the Abhorsen's travel-stained cloak.

"There's no need for that!" the Abhorsen protested, shoving him aside with a heavy booted foot. "Come, my little drowned rat. Into the alehouse."

Still hissing under his breath, Mogget had no choice but to follow.

IC
Name: Karkat Vantas
Canon: Homestuck
Canon Point: End of Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 2
Age: 7.4 Alternian Solar Sweeps (16 Human Earth Years)

Personality:
While on the surface Karkat can be summed up as a rather simple, albeit angry individual, the truth of the matter is that his personality is much deeper and more complex than one would expect. The first thing that anyone will notice about Karkat is his consistent frustration with everyone and everything around him, adopting the style of a stereotypical raging internet troll in his usual speech, and isn't above supporting his arguments with what appears to be empty logic. He is rarely seen smiling, and is more common to be found screaming, pounding his fists on the keyboard as he types, and expressing his impatience with those he is dealing with. He has a knack for making even the friendliest of people's moods turn sour or even flip out in response to his insults, which are usually rich and imaginative in terms of colourful imagery (one such example being "YOU’RE LIKE A ROCKET PROPELLED SPAZ MAGGOT SPRINGLOADED UP THE ASS OF A PSYCHEDELIC FUCKING FREAKOUT WEASEL ON IDIOT DRUGS").

Despite the angry and harsh exterior that Karkat projects onto those around him, in reality he does care quite deeply for those he considers to be his friends. Karkat has been shown to cry more in the webcomic than any of the other trolls he is aligned with. He goes out of his way to help his friends when they are in need; he genuinely desires to helping Eridan and Tavros with their relationship problems, shows great concern for Terezi when she admits she regrets having her blindness cured and expresses her concerns with her relationship with Gamzee, and wished to ensure with Dave that they would still remain friends after they meet up with the other humans. Karkat is also one of the least violent trolls in his group, and often times when it comes down to intense times, he will either try to devise some kind of working plan that won't end with violence (calming Gamzee down out of his withdrawal rage, convincing Kanaya to not kill Gamzee, etc.) or straight up stand in shock at what just occurred before him (such as when Eridan went on his violent killing spree, slaying all in the room save for Karkat). For all his shortcomings when it comes to his social skills with others, Karkat is quite adept in shepherding others towards a particular goal. He was able to gather eleven other trolls with clashing personalities to follow his lead during their SGRUB session and led them to winning their game, thus creating the human universe. He is shown to be a an effective leader, and this has been acknowledged by some of the other trolls.

Like many of the other characters in the comic, Karkat has a particular typing quirk which defines himself when he speaks in an online chat. He speaks with perfect syntax, but types in all caps. Unlike the other trolls, whose font colours reflect their blood colour and thus their status in troll society, Karkat chooses to instead type in gray font, and even his symbol is the same gray colour. This is because Karkat's blood is bright red, like human blood, a unique mutation among trolls. In a society that places trolls into castes based on their blood colour (rust red, brown, and yellow being the lowest, olive, jade, and teal being middle-class, and blue, purple, and violet being royalty), Karkat's bright red blood places him off the spectrum completely. He is very ashamed of this blood and hides it fiercely, as mutants in troll culture are usually killed on sight. Karkat's blood colour becomes less of an issue after SGRUB, when most of the others discover his blood colour, but it is still something that is on his mind, and it's generally assumed that this fear of having his blood discovered is what causes him to be so defensive towards others.

History:
Karkat Vantas – MSPA Wiki

Canon Abilities or Powers:
In regards to the other trolls, Karkat is pretty underwhelming. He doesn’t have many magical abilities like the other trolls, and most of his strengths are limited to his own physical ability. He’s skilled in using sickles and he’s pretty physically fit due to his rigorous training regiments, which were honed even further while he was playing SGRUB. One thing that he’s shown to excel in is his ability to bring stability to others; one example being how he was able to bring a rampaging crazy troll down to calmness with little more than a few pats and a hug. It’s not clear whether this is because of his title as the Knight of Blood (a title that’s meant to bring stability and equilibrium to the team) or if he’s just really good at calming people down, but his ability to “SHOOSH YOUR CLOWN ASS TO SHANGRI-BULLSHIT-LA AND BACK” is something worthy of noting.

Like everyone in Homestuck, he has a Strife Specibus, which is used to describe what weapons one uses, and a Sylladex inventory system. Karkat’s Strife Specibus is Sicklekind, which allows him to wield various kinds of sickles as his weapon. His Sylladex is what is used to hold his collected items, which are stored as cards and stashed into the Sylladex; the Sylladex itself isn't physical per say, moreso something that the characters have on them all the time that can be accessed anytime. This is to mirror the effect of an actual video game character's inventory system and how characters can possess a great number of items while seemingly carrying nothing physically on their bodies.

Other than these small things, Karkat also possesses the natural abilities available to all Alternian trolls. Namely, they are hardier, their claws sharper than human nails and their fangs sharper than a human's. Trolls are also nocturnal, thus being able to see better in the dark than they do in overtly bright light. Karkat is relatively underwhelming when it comes to troll standards (his horns are smaller and nubbier, and teeth are blunter than most trolls), but he would be able to hold his own and probably win against an untrained human due to his personal training and his time playing SGRUB. Since he is self-taught, however, he will have a hard time keeping up in combat against a foe who is professionally trained in combat.

Fairy Tale Role: Raven from "How Raven Brought Light To The World"

Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Raven is a trickster, and his most notable abilities mentioned in the story is his ability to shapeshift; he first changes into a pine needle to be swallowed, then into a child, and then, once he has the sun, back into a raven in order to flee the Chief's house with the sun in his beak. Other than this ability, as well as the ability to speak and a notable cleverness, Raven otherwise possesses the same abilities of a common raven in this story. Because of this, Karkat will possess the ability to shapeshift his physical form into other things, so long as they are a living thing (animals, other humanoids, etc). Also, it is mentioned that while Raven is transformed into a human form, he has several characteristics that identify him as being Raven (The actual tale states that Raven's human form " possessed a long, beaklike nose, a few feathers here and there, and the unmistakably black, shining eyes of the raven"). In this regard, I have opted to give Karkat black raven-like wings whenever he assumes his troll form. It might take him a few days to actually learn how to use these wings, but once he gets the hang of it he will be able to fly with them.

Personal Items: Karkat will be carrying his sickle (and by extension his Strife Specibus), the clothes he was currently wearing, his Sylladex (which is empty, by canon accounts), and his Speaker Crab, a wrist-mounted communication device with a removable crab that can be used to project a small holographic image of the person with whom he is talking. The device is strongly suggested to be created from his computer, so it's likely the device has computer-like functionability. Given the nature of Märchenstraße, obviously, this Speaker Crab will probably end up being little more than a decoration once he arrives.

First Person Sample:
[Anyone who happens to be looking at their journal right now might be surprised to find a giant mass of angry text slowly filling the pages.]

SO ACCORDING TO THE MASS OF HALF-SPONGED NUMBNUBS I'M DEALING WITH, APPARENTLY I CAN USE THIS BOOK TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS BY WRITING IN IT.
WHILE THAT'S NOT THE BIGGEST PILE OF HORSESHIT I'VE HAD MY AURICULAR SPONGE CLOTS ASSAULTED BY, IT'S STILL PRETTY FUCKING STUPID IF YOU THINK TOO HARD ABOUT IT.
OK, BUT WEIRD COMMUNICATOR BOOKS AND STUPID ALIEN CONSORT THINGS ASIDE, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE??
IT'S ONE THING TO BE TOSSED AROUND ALL OF PARADOX SPACE LIKE I'M SOME KIND OF SLAB OF GRUBLOAF BEING TOSSED BETWEEN TWO ASSHOLES PLAYING KEEP-AWAY WITH A CRIPPLED CHOLERBEAR, BUT THIS IS *NOT* SOMETHING I WAS EXPECTING TO HAVE HAPPEN!!
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS PLACE AND WHY IS IT FILLED WITH SO MANY WEIRD... THINGS?? THE CONSORT THINGS KEEP GOING ON ABOUT HOW GREAT IT IS I'M HERE, BUT I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE *HERE* EVEN IS!
ARE WE STILL ON LOFAF?? IS THIS JADE'S DOING? BECAUSE SHE WAS PRETTY FUCKING FAR OFF OF HER ROCKER LAST TIME I SPOKE WITH HER.
AND THESE IDIOTS KEEP CALLING ME 'RAVEN'. WHAT THE FUCK EVEN IS A RAVEN??
AND CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY THE HELL IT IS I HAVE *WINGS* GROWING OUT OF MY BACK?!

Third Person Sample:
The cool breeze rustled through the trees and ruffled Karkat's feathers as he stood on the hillside overlooking a small valley. He had been scouring the outskirts and forest surrounding Märchenstraße looking for a place to practice using his new wings, and had stumbled upon this secluded area not too long ago. It was out of the way, high enough for some practice yet not so high that he would end up falling to his death if things turned south. The wind wasn't too bad either, meaning that the conditions seemed relatively ideal for practicing flight.

He was still getting used to the fact that he had these new growths on his back, but at least he had figured out his balance with them while walking. Now, as he stood on the edge of the hill, he spread them experimentally, feeling the breeze flow around them and through each of his primary feathers. He took a deep breath, then exhaled it slowly. It looked pretty simple when Aradia, Vriska, and all the other God-Tier-level trolls used their wings, so it should be pretty simple, right?

With one final deep breath, Karkat tensed, crouched down, readied himself. Then, he jumped.

He fell fast, but then the wind caught his falling form, and he could fill the air currents push against his wings. He willed himself to flap them, one, two, three, against the currents. For a second he thought that it was working, that he was actually flying, that he could do this, that it was so simple. But then that lofty feeling faded as he lost the feeling of the wind, and he began to go down, fast.

"Shit, shit, fuck!!"

He fell with a loud thump, spraying dirt and leaves into the air. Coughing a bit, Karkat sat up slowly, growling as he shook the mess from his hair. A quick once-over of his body determined that nothing was broken or damaged, but his wings had numerous leaves sticking out from them. With a sigh, he pulled the offending appendages closer as he began to pick the foliage out of his feathers.

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: Nope

IC
Name: Kiri Luchile
Canon: Double Arts
Canon Point: End of chapter 23
Age: 16

Personality:
For the most part, Kiri is anything but the average kid and John Q. Public he carries himself as and claims to be. Having a game breakingly overpowered ability should have attracted attention from far flung corners of the world. But, no. The boy stays quiet about curing common colds, deadlifting barges. and carving statues in a matter of seconds. One would think this is only accomplished by being tirelessly vigilant of every person met, and word spoken. Rather, the boy retains this anonymity by simply avoiding the spotlight, skirting around responsibility, fleeing boredom; his parents more than could have had a hand in keeping their child hidden, but this is speculation and a leap of logic only founded by how no one outside of his home town knows about it, despite there being a festival that is nearly in his honor. Either which way, Kiri had danced through life without thinking beyond tomorrow or emotionally investing himself in much at all. Sure, the boy is exceptionally brilliant at working with materials such as clay, stone, or wood for carving/sculpting, and could sketch and paint alongside Dali, and he still doesn’t care beyond filling boredom; which shows through all his poop spirit statues, and glib doodles. Sure, this tailors’ son sews faster and with more accuracy than what someone could consider humanly possible, and he still doesn’t care beyond filling boredom; of course, it is a family trade, yet that doesn’t hold for him other than familial bonds (no thought of the future, or what the trade does and is to him). Sure, there is the Thanksgiving Festival he contributes to and is the guest of honor for, yet still he doesn’t care beyond filling boredom; there are so many instances of casual, if not slightly apathetic, talk of committing, let alone his dismissiveness about attending it. Kiri does not think beyond what is immediately in front of him for everything from responsibilities to leisure.

Until he meets Elraine Figarette.

In a matter of a day (or a few hours, for that matter) he is on his hero’s journey with the added bonus of literally holding Elle’s life in his hands. There is all this talk about saving the world and being a hero. So, of course, per the main shounen protagonist job description, Kiri puts his intelligence to work fighting assassins, and rescuing people. But, still, Kiri does not think beyond the immediate. It is only with Elle’s coercion that Kiri understands what sort of impact he can have on the world, and the responsibility that comes with it -- he does not fathom the journey beyond his promises to Elle and his own picky, naive sense of justice. First foray into real life, and even his special powers, for her. Kiri drops everything and throws himself wholly and completely at this sudden love-at-first-sight. In a word or two, you could call him hopelessly devoted or stupid -- take your pick.

So, when Elle and her fellow Sisters are so accustomed to their martyr lifestyle and try to sacrifice themselves for him, it is no surprise that Kiri gets riled up and angry; the idea of sacrificing lives for a single person’s sake or to accomplish a dream is ridiculous to him. Kiri holds onto this fired up positivity that even if there is only a 1% chance of success, it is better to have given it your all rather than let that chance pass by. Especially when lives are at stake. But, when the chances are less than that one percent and he fails -- costing the lives of many Sisters, and nearly killing Elle -- the helpless shame spurns him into realizing just how heavy his newfound responsibilities and promises are. He starts thinking much farther ahead, ardently planning and training like never before. It solidifies that his journey with Elle is not something to fill boredom, that he cares. Kiri gives Elle Flare, and with it, himself.

TL;DR -- Generally very calm, relaxed, and quiet about matters unless whatever is going on has a direct, immediate effect on himself (or loved ones) and he feels responsible for it; only snaps when stressed/angry/riled, or when someone is willingly putting themselves in harms way (only when it involves Elle or his family, he will hypocritically sacrifice himself). If he feels something is within his control or his responsibility, he is Mr. Fix-it -- action takes precedence over words. Otherwise, he goes by the thought that there is no use worrying over something that cannot be helped or changed; it is safer to avoid conflict and stay anonymous. As a whole, Kiri is not very excitable. And he is stupidly, hopelessly devoted to Elle, and is not sure why or what he wants to get out of it, simply that there is a strong emotional attachment. Oh, and he is ambidextrous.

History:
Double Arts takes place on an unnamed continent comprised of two major nations that have been plagued by a incurable disease spread by physical contact, Troy -- once contracted, it builds up a poison inside the person until it causes seizures, and afterward the afflicted fades out of existence. There are four supposed races in this fantasy setting, only two of which are named: Beigar, a race specializing in crafting vocations, and Nagin, whose warrior blood has been spread so far and thin across the world that they are one of the most common races. An organization, whose members are referred to as “Sisters”, manages to keep the disease relatively contained by using people whose resistance to Troy is stronger than average to “Drain” the poison in the afflicted person; thus, in the epitome of martyrdom, sacrificing droves upon droves of young women’s lives while searching for a cure -... that a group of assassins known as “Gazelles” want them dead for. Their intent is unknown aside from that they like to mercilessly kill Sisters whenever they get a chance.

Which is where Kiri comes in with his special power, Flare -- the driving force of why the Sisters need it, being that with a single touch, Kiri can halt the seizures, and reverse the vanishing. Also, in a way, how Kiri and Elle meet. While doing work as a Sister in a small, country-side port town (and Kiri’s home), Turm, Elle’s resistance to Troy reaches its limit and she goes into seizures. Kiri holds her hand and stops the seizures. From then on, the duo need to have physical contact or Elle will die, at the same time working on their journey to the Sisters’ headquarters to find a cure for Troy. Double Arts centers around their friendship forged out of difficult times (i.e. being a giant glaring target for the Gazelle Assassins, and fighting them with their personal martial arts style, the eponymous Double Arts), and the necessity of trusting, needing, and learning about each other because of this 24/7 skinship.

Canon Abilities or Powers:
"Flare" -- CON, DEX, STR are multiplied by every person in contact with Kiri for every person in contact with Kiri, including himself. v01.c005.p14
??? -- Another facet of Flare is mentioned, but is never explained or shown in canon.

Shapeshifting into any animal or inanimate object; takes 60 seconds to fully transform, and is painful.

Item: Spellbook Available spells will be based off of the D&D4.0 Wizard class (including supplementary books: Player’s Handbook 2 & 3, and Arcane Power), using the MP system mentioned in “Capacity for magic”. All spells other than cantrips require previous preparation (i.e. powder ground, potion mixed), a recited spell, and/or rune/symbol/etc drawn -- Kiri cannot cast a spell other than a cantrip instantaneously, unless House Ruled.

Personal Items:
Other than the clothes he is wearing:
-a fannypack: 1 pencil, 1 permanent marker, 3 paint brushes, 1 pocket knife, 4 small spools of thread (brown, black, white, yellow), a pack of 5 needles, 1 compass, and three random 5” scraps of cloth.

First Person Sample:
[Kiri opens up this advertisement journal entry with an ink gesture drawing of a particular cottage near the center of town -- a rickety thing, shivering against the brick building beside it, with its cross-beams chipped and paint peeling -- modest and homely for all its blemishes. It is framed with an elaborate scheme of ribbons of cloth, needles, and thread woven together in sailing knots. His handwriting isn’t the most neatly scrawled at the foot of the picture, sitting somewhere between chicken scratch and doctors’ cursive flourish.]

Need your pants patched? A suit tailored? A dress hemmed? Come down to the North-East end of the Shopping District for all your tailoring needs for a fair price!

- Kiri Luchile

[The signature is at least legible… If you can ignore the doodle strapped to the side of it.]

Third Person Sample:

[1]I will put restrictions on these to fit the overall starting game power-level as needed; don’t mind making a full 4.0 character sheet for Kiri, either, since it’s dangerously easy to write him being overpowered.

IC
Name: Simon Masefield (the Seventh)
Fable: The Story of The Seven Simons (Crimson Fairy Book - Andrew Lang)
Age: 25
Appearance:

Based off of the Tim Stevens illustrations in the Folio Society’s Edition of Andrew Lang’s Crimson Fairy Book. Simon is of average height, with dark curly hair of about chin length with some rough stubble. He has the well-bronzed skin of a lifelong field worker, as well as the accompanying musculature. His face shows some hints of his general emotional weariness, and even now there is some gauntness in his face from the stint of time he spent near-starving in the King’s dungeons.

At the moment, I have his PB as Henry Cavill, at least until i have time to draw a set of icons for him.

[personal profile] seventhsimon 2013-12-06 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Simon, for all his talent and role within his fairy-tale story, is a rather quiet individual. Partially because of his place as the youngest of seven children, partially because of his ‘talent’ for theft, and partially because it is simply in his nature to think humbly of himself, Simon has made a habit of being unnoticeable. He isn’t a particularly noticeable individual to begin with, so the fact that he goes out of his way to stay unnoticed makes him incredibly easy to overlook or forget about. He takes being unremarkable to an art form, and is very inwardly focused, unlikely to speak much or share his own motives. King Archidej nearly forgot about him altogether when the King was questing the Simons about their talents/trades.

This is not to say, however, that Simon cannot be eloquent in his speech, however. When he speaks he can be very persuasive, even as he strives to speak only truthfully. His cleverness aids in this, that he seeks first to persuade. When being unnoticed doesn’t work, Simon seeks to see if his own cleverness might. His first instinct when King Archidej questions him is to sidestep the issue entirely, in a surprisingly eloquent but evasive answer. When this fails he firsts extracts a promise from the King that then saves his life not but a few minutes later.

Simon’s plan to ‘steal’ the Princess Helena best showcases his cleverness. He almost immediately comes upon a plan to retrieve her, and it leaves all parties satisfied. The King does not trust him, so he leaves his two eldest brothers as ‘hostages’, which satisfies King Archidej by giving him ‘leverage’ against Simon, but also keeps his older brothers safe and out of the way as their talents would not be helpful during his trip. He takes the remaining brothers, to plan for the actual ‘theft’ of the princess as well as covering his bases in the ‘magical fairy-tale shape shifting’ department. Once they arrive, his clever words and actions convince her to board his brother’s ship to view the goods he asked King Archidej supply (some of which end up left behind for the Princess’s ladies, which may or may not give Simon the slightest bit of selfish satisfaction, even if King Archidej doesn’t care).

While it seems a strange thing for a supernaturally talented thief, Simon is actually extremely moral, for the most part. His parents and brothers raised him right is the answer he would give if anyone asked him, but however he comes by it, it’s very evident in his words and deeds. Simon is almost painfully honest; he tries to fend King Archidej off with a misdirection, but he never lies, and when the King calls him on his non-answer, he does answer truthfully, even knowing that theft is a crime often punished by death in King Archidej’s kingdom. Speaking of his talent for theft, just because he can steal doesn’t mean he does. In fact, he makes a point of not doing so. (Since his knowledge of this skill comes form somewhere, however, I have it that the few times he has stolen things, it was more to prove to those who doubted him that he could, and he always returned said items as quickly as possible.) Even though Simon could likely get away with it quite easily, he still does the right thing and avoids it.

Given this, Simon is not one to care for injustice, and though he strives to do the ‘good’ thing and forgive and forget, he knows that he often struggles with resentment for things that have happened for what he considers unjust reasons. The foremost of these would be his time spent imprisoned, especially since he had committed no crime—his preferred and primary way of living is one of honest labour—but was imprisoned because he had the ability to commit one. Even though it is hard for him to let such things go, he does strive his best to do so, and when it becomes too much of a struggle, or influences him in a way that goes against things generally considered good (loyalty to one’s king, etc.) he seeks to avoid confrontation with the subject of his anger and resentment.

However, now he’s lost his family due to the fading of most of the fairy tales, and it leaves him somewhat at loose ends. His bond with his family was very strong, and he cared for them as much as they did for him. He was never particularly happy with the way everything ended as if it was all ‘fine’, and he’s skeptical about the way they are drawing people in to preserve the tales. For two reasons. The first, is that he finds it somewhat uncomfortable that they are all, to a certain extent, considered so easily expendable, as though any random joe could replace people he knows and cares for as if they were the same people. The second is that he tends to think it pretty awful that they are just shoving poor, unsuspecting bastards in to sucky situations to fix their own problems. It is a poor situation, and he would speak more against it were he not deal already with his own grief.

IC
Name: Franziska von Karma
Canon: Ace Attorney
Canon Point: post-Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
Age: 19
perfectionisms: (Default)

[personal profile] perfectionisms 2013-12-06 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

"To be perfect in every way." That's the von Karma family creed and the philosophy Franziska was raised on. And for young Franziska, perfection was to be just like her father, Manfred von Karma, a renowned prosecutor who has never lost a case. Perfection meant being able to best Miles Edgeworth, Manfred's protege whom Franziska saw both as a little brother and a rival, and earn the right to be the successor to the von Karma name. Both men were known to be geniuses in prosecution, as Edgeworth managed to effortlessly follow Manfred's footsteps. Franziska, as she later acknowledged, was not a genius, and was a lot younger than Edgeworth. (Age aside, she still insists that she's the older sister.) She strove to catch up to them, to prove that she was worth her name and her legacy, through hard work and dedication. At the age of thirteen, Franziska was already priding herself as a "prodigy prosecutor", having graduated from a prestigious German law school.

And she was indeed a prosecutor. Like her father and little brother, she has never lost a case. She was known and feared among her peers. Her arguments were precise. Her investigations were thorough; as thorough as you can get without having the kleptomaniac tendencies of the protagonists of the Ace Attorney series. She was quick witted and could easily develop counterarguments against the defense. She was strict and disciplined with the rules, and was known to whip people for being foolish (this can mean anything from being generally annoying to breaking a minor rule like keeping the courtroom clean to being a criminal) without a moment's notice.

This harsh personality was brought about by the pressure of being expected to be perfect. This was her primary drive until Manfred von Karma was tried and found guilty of the murder of Gregory Edgeworth, Miles Edgeworth's father. She was uninvolved with the trial itself. Phoenix Wright, an old friend of Edgeworth's, was the defense attorney. Manfred von Karma was the prosecutor and the original defendant, tried for a murder related to that of his father's, was Edgeworth. This case left her without a father (the "anchor of her life" as she called him when she was thirteen) and a little brother, who decided to "choose death" and leave the world of prosecutor. She lost both her goal and her benchmark for perfection.

Angered by her loss, Franziska flew to America to defeat Phoenix Wright. She did everything she could to defeat him: conducting surprise investigations, controlling the witnesses' testimonies, withholding evidence, planting a tracking device on the detective in charge, and the like. She lost three times and each loss made her more desperate and reckless. This anger was made worse when Edgeworth decided to show up during the investigation stage of her fourth case against Phoenix. He was a changed man, having lost not only his perfect record but also his ideas when it comes to perfection. He didn't care as much as he did. She hated what he had become. She hated how he called her out with losing to Phoenix three times. She was more fired up than ever. Had Edgeworth not dragged her to a clinic, she would have gone to court even if the assassin the defendant for the case hired shot her on the shoulder the moment she stepped out of the car.

Thus she was made to give up the case to Edgeworth. She was called to go to court to deliver and present some evidence before it ended. Phoenix still won. Phoenix still won. After the trial, Franziska stormed out of court screaming about being unworthy of the von Karma name, leaving her whip behind. She, at that point in time, had given up on being a prosecutor. And she would have left forever had Phoenix not given the whip to Edgeworth who then chased after her in the airport to return it. She admitted to not being a genius. She admitted to being crushed by the expectation to be perfect. She admitted to wanting to take revenge on Edgeworth for always leaving her behind by defeating Phoenix. She showed signs of wanting to change what she had become but believed that she couldn't. Edgeworth convinced her that she could. The additional threat/pep talk about leaving her behind again if she stopped being a prosecutor convinced her to carry on with her profession. And yes, she was still bent on defeating Edgeworth.

That being said, Franziska's personality didn't change much over the course of the games. What changed was her motivations. She used to fight for her father's recognition. Then she fought for revenge. While she still considered Edgeworth to be her rival, by the time of the third game (one year after the Engarde case) she started to fight for herself. Come Ace Attorney Investigations, the game where I'm taking her from, she chose to be a prosecutor to capture criminals. She's still a perfectionist, upholding the von Karma creed, but she can now handle defeat with a little more grace.

It's also worth noting that Franziska isn't as mature as she presents herself to be. She has a lot of insecurities (height, status, being compared to Edgeoworth and Manfred) and a lot of pride. She can obviously be selfish, and occasionally naive. She tends to believe what she wants to believe and dismisses all other opinions as worthless until proven with evidence and testimony. She has a tendency to be unaware about how mean she presents herself to be and was taken aback when an eight year old called her out on it. Anger aside, she usually means well by her actions. She's just not good with showing affection. For example, knowing that Miles Edgeworth is afraid of earthquakes, her reaction to being with him after a quake was to order him to get some fresh air as he looked pale. Disliking how dirty Detective Gumshoe's coat had become was to attempt to throw it away so he could buy a new one. She eventually mailed it back to him.

Franziska still looks up to her father with some degree of pride and respect. She differs with him when it comes to philosophy as Manfred believes that there are people who are above the law and can not be tried in court. Franziska believes otherwise and, with the aide of Miles Edgeworth, Detective Dick Gumshoe, Kay Faraday and Agent Shi-long Lang, managed to try a corrupt ex-foreign ambassador. Simply put, she believes in the power of law and that all criminals should be given their proper punishment.

Canon Abilities or Powers: Nothing supernatural. She's skilled at using her whip.

Fairy Tale Role: The 13th Fairy from Sleeping Beauty
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
Control over and summoning plants that have thorns. In the fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on a spindle and was supposed to die, but fell asleep for a hundred years instead. Her castle was then surrounded by thorn hedges. If we assume that the spindle was tipped with a poisonous thorn, then we could simplify the vague extent of the original fairy tale character's abilities to having power over thorny plants.

Personal Items: her whip, her cellphone, a briefcase, her current clothes, a fresh pair of gloves

First Person Sample:

Foolish fools who foolishly believe in foolish flights of fancy, fairy tales aren't real. Fairies aren't real. To think that I, Franziska von Karma, prodigy prosecutor, am a foolishly flitting fairy is absolutely foolish! I know this because the most famous fairy tales come from my country. They are nothing but tales to entertain children and amuse the simple-minded. Magic does not exist. This entire world is nothing but a fever dream brought about by stress and fatigue.

When I wake up from this dream, I will have to demand for a short vacation.

IC
Name: Dick Grayson
Canon: Young Justice
Canon Point: After the end of season 1
Age: 14

Personality:
Dick Grayson is a fourteen-year-old with an extraordinary life. And he knows it.

To begin with, his life started in the circus. And not by chance, either - he was the youngest member of the Flying Graysons, a family of acrobats/trapeze artists that were part of Haly's Circus. He grew up among the animals and the lifers, the barkers and the audiences, traveling all over the world, in the midst of close relatives and the whole troupe caring for him...

And, above all, in the air. He learned to walk on the tightrope, more or less; he lived and breathed flight, or as close to an unaided human could get. And, to Dick, this was feeling things right. He was always full of energy and, as appropriate to the circus, with good cheer. He was an artist born, not made, and a charming little troll.

His travels gave him a lot of knowledge about the world, in ways that most people that young never get to see; his family also gave him the confident knowledge that he was loved, cared for, protected. And special. Fast on his feet, fast on his hands, quick-witted and graceful, Dick Grayson was an enchanted boy.

However, the perfect life (or as close to it as one can get) didn't last. When Dick was nine, his Haly's circus performed in Gotham - and the circus owner refused to pay for 'protection' to a local. The revenge? Well. The Flying Graysons performed without a safety network for their crown act - one that their youngest member was excluded from. It took Tony Zucco only to sabotage the rig a little, and the five acrobats fell.

In one truly fell swoop, Dick lost his parents, his aunt, and his cousin; his uncle, the only one who survived the fall, was paralyzed for life. Dick couldn't even stay with the circus, the extended family he'd grown up with. Out of the enchanted life and a lonely orphan, in a night.

But, while Dick's life changed - while his confidence in the goodness of the world shattered - his life did not become a full-on tragedy. He got adopted by a Gotham billionaire, Bruce Wayne. From the constant travels and on-the-go, kaleidoscopic life with the circus, Dick moved into the vast Wayne Manor, with a guardian who cared for him, in all his rich-boy-company-owner busy-ness, and a butler.

And nobody else.

The change was hard on him, and a lot of the confidence, the cheer, left him for a while. But he didn't stop working out - even with acrobatic equipment, because that was not an impossibility at Wayne Manor. The transition probably would have been more difficult for him if Dick didn't have one thing very firmly in mind.

He wanted to get back to Tony Zucco for taking everyone from him. Revenge his family.

And that goal brought the other change in Dick's life.

Because Bruce Wayne had a secret. By day, he was a businessman, in the evening, he was a glittering, empty-headed socialite. But by night, he was Batman.

And Batman... took a very peculiar view of his young ward's drive for vengeance. Because he knew enough about the cheerful, bright-eyed boy to want one thing most of all for him - that Dick did not become like him.

Bruce recognized the fact that Dick wouldn't give up, not until his goal was accomplished. So, instead of trying to get in the way and alienate the boy, he took Dick under his wing. Dick chose the persona (and the outfit) himself, but the fact was that he became Robin, Batman's sidekick, a crimefighter, at the age of nine.

Now, nearly five years later, he is still doing it.

On the upside, he again has family that he trusts completely, both with Bruce and Alfred, and with the team that formed months ago among him and his fellow sidekicks (older, but, on the overall, less experienced). He once again flies at night, keeping the acrobatics he was born into alive and in perfect shape. His mind is developed to keep pace with his body - he is fast, witty, and an extraordinary hacker-- uh. Extraordinarily skilled with technology individual. In school, the kind of academy that he couldn't ever have dreamed to attend, while with the circus, he is a mathlete, a star student, and that's on top of all the work that he does. His sunny disposition has reasserted itself, and he cracks jokes, good and somewhat less so (some of them slaughtering the English language rather creatively), to keep up the morale of his allies and distract his enemies or lure them into angry mistakes.

On the downside... in five years, he has seen a lot of the worst that humanity can dish out to each other. He is a vigilante in Gotham, the city of the worst crazies. Like Joker, or Poison Ivy, or any number of them. And Dick has survived those encounters, not unscathed, either physically or mentally. Or emotionally.

The bright facade that he puts up to the world covers a little too much hurt than a kid his age should have borne. To boot, Dick is a sensitive child, incapable - or unwilling, possibly with the support of his guardian/mentor - to shut himself away from what is happening around him. He cares about people, he cares about what he does and why he does it. So all the horror that he has seen has left deep scars on him - scars that he laughs away but ambush him sometimes. Scars that he cannot ignore.

But he is way too determined - too stubborn - to let any of that stop him. To let any of that hurt those he cares about again.

Like his mentor, he's a baseline human without any meta abilities - his acrobatics almost suggest such, but it's all hard work and inborn affinity - among a team of metas, facing enemies who frequently possess or control such extra options, too. He's good enough at what he does to avoid being the weakest link, making up for the lack of power or speed by quick thinking, providing all the possible information at the soonest possible moment, and by feats of personal heroism that would have been impressive in an adult - in a fourteen-year-old, they are downright amazing.

That is not to say that he's flawless. To the contrary, he makes mistakes. They are only few and far between, both because it's important to him to make his mentor proud and because he knows way too well how a mistake he makes might cost people their lives. He is sometimes too rash, not fully considering and weighing all the options he has, especially the ones that pertain to the best of his team - which is why, despite his attempt, he did not become the leader of that team, leaving the honor to the much more mature Aqualad. Dick's humor is also a little too sharp, sometimes poking fun more deeply than he should. His confidence sometimes borders on arrogance, though those occasions are often concealing insecurities that the swift change in his life - as well as the not-always-positive experience in the years since became Robin - caused.

In the end, though, he is Robin. The laughing, brightly-clad, somersaulting little troll in the night. Batman's partner, the boy wonder who never gives up, no matter how sticky the situation, and whose cackle can herald the rapid change of bad guys' luck for the worse. He's a mostly-ordinary boy who's had an extraordinary life, and he's fully aware of that - and will make sure all that he's been given, he gives freely back, helping as much of the world as he can, any way he can.

History: http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/Nightwing (note: Dick is taken from the end of season 1, when he is still Robin - the very first and only one - and has recently turned fourteen.)

Canon Abilities or Powers:
* Olympic-level acrobat.
* Martial artist - he's beet crime fighting for the last five years. Hand to hand, eskrima sticks, and birdarangs are his weapons of choice.
* Hacker (not very useful in the setting, but still)
* Working knowledge of history and sciences, as needed by the sidekick of the world's greatest detective.

Fairy Tale Role: Cupid, from the Cupid and Psyche mythos
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
* Extraordinary beauty (not that Dick Grayson needs much enhancement, for that)
* Flight... yeah, with wings, apparently. They are feathery wings and can carry him pretty fast around.
* Archery. He is, possibly, Apollo's equal with the bow - only he doesn't shoot to kill.
* Oh, and the whole god of love thing. I'm going to limit the bulk of his power this way to his arrows - going with the two-flavor version, sharp-tipped to enflame desire, and blunt, to stop it. He can probably also encourage those already into each other/maybe give them some sort of blessing.

Personal Items:
* Clothes on his back - skinny jeans, shoes, t-shirt, and a black hoodie
* Shades
* Wristwatch-shaped computer with holo display/keyboard
* ... utility belt with birdarangs and other necessary things in pouches, since he basically doesn't go around with it.

First Person Sample:
[ The writing is neat and legible, if a little hurried, like the person writing it is always in motion, never stopping long enough to shape the letters fully patiently. ]

So, guys. Hi. I'm curious about some things. For one thing, how many of us are here, yet? Will we resort to talking with the fairies, or something like that?

Another thing. Should we, introduce ourselves with our proper names, or are we supposed to ~live our roles~ and talk - and think - of ourselves as whoever we're here as?

And, most importantly, how many people are freaking out and/or hating this, and does anybody need any help?

Third Person Sample:
"You have got to be kidding me."

Dick was looking around himself. He was sitting in the street... a cobbled street. All right, he hadn't seen one of those in a long time, but not out of his range of experience. With a book in his lap, ditto on the range. But... he was not somewhere he should have woken up - five years behind superb security should have assured that.

Well. No, it hadn't, because both Robin and Dick Grayson had been targets of kidnapping, but those didn't look or feel like this. They usually involved being tied up, roughed up, and possibly his head being almost too muzzy to properly think. None of these were present at the moment, and the street seemed... free, in fact.

Except he spotted that he had a bow and a quiver of arrows.

That made Dick bounce off to his feet to examine them, calling out, out of reflex, "Spee-- Red Arrow? Artemis? Anyone?"

Which is when he became aware of the wings. He was still gaping at them over his shoulder when a pixie stopped to look at him, shaking her head and saying that there was no Artemis, besides, he should probably call her Diana (what? Why would I be calling for Wonder Woman instead of Artemis?!). The pixie (oh, man, Wally'd have a fit, here!) had no answers.

Well. He'd have to find them some other way, right? Clutching the book in his hand (he'd look at it later, it was a book, of course he would!) he set off to explore.

[personal profile] sciencewhizard 2013-12-06 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Wally West is a very physical and earthly individual – he’s very much in tune with his wants and desires, perhaps to a fault. For example, he’s often seen stuffing his face, though this does have a root in his speedy metabolism, which requires almost constant feeding; this has not stopped him from feeling ashamed about his eating habits, however. When Psycho-Pirate used his Medusa Mask to make the team live through their worst fears and anxieties, Wally was confronted with his eating habits and his fear that he was never truly needed by The Flash; at some level, he feels unworthy of his role as Kid Flash, but he was the first member of the team to actually break through the control of the Medusa Mask because he realized his worth, and also remembering that he was trusted with the secret of Robin’s true identity ( Young Justice #3.5 ).

This earthiness of his also manifests in his scientific mindset: science was, and seemingly still is, the framework he has for viewing the world. He’s very well versed in chemistry, biology, physics, and mechanics; he was able to determine the composition of Kobra-Venom ( “Drop-Zone” ); he knew how to fix up Superboy’s motorcycle ( “Homefront” ); he could instruct Robin on how to build a mechanism to generate an EMP ( ibid. ), and he’s capable of understanding the theories behind time travel ( “Bloodlines” ). His scientific worldview, however, is also his way of controlling the world around him through his understanding; there is no room for the mystic arts, the supernatural, and magic, and to admit their existence means acknowledging his lack of control ( “Denial” ). Since he has worn the Helmet of Fate, come into contact with the ghost of Kent Nelson, and admitted the existence of a “higher plane,” it is possible his worldview has expanded without ill effect to his sense of self, but he has yet to be seen mentioning it since then.

Even before he became Kid Flash, Wally had a very energetic, curious, and intellectual nature. At the age of thirteen, he was able to read, understand, and use his Uncle Barry’s research notes to recreate the experiment that gave him his speedster powers ( YJ #5 ). The fact that it took him longer than expected to gain speedster powers of his own may have contributed to his acceptance of the fact that The Flash can seriously outpace him [ on Earth-16 ]; he has been shown as saying, in the second season, “Lap me; I’m used to it” ( “Bloodlines” ).

Physical contact seems to be important for Wally, and he’s quite expressive through his body. There are several instances where he is mainly expressive with his arms and hands, for example, in “Independence Day,” where he both throws his arms about (emotional about the revelation that the Justice League had deceived them about the true nature of their induction) and wrings his hands (upset about Speedy’s departure). He has no problem with immediately expressing camaraderie toward new people, such as Superboy, whose shoulders he threw his arms about at the end of “Fireworks;” he also gave the clone a playful punch or two in YJ #0. In particular, the two people he seems to have the most ease expressing his physical nature with are Robin and Artemis, both of whom he was willing to carry during missions and times of crisis ( Unknown Episode & “Bereft,” respectively ). At the same time, he seems to prefer being the initiator of physical contact, otherwise he can get upset; “Bloodlines,” showed him getting slightly irritated and upset when Bart Allen hugged him after he arrived to collect the speedster.

As a side note, it should be mentioned that previous incarnations of Wally West, from the comics centered on New Earth ( YJ takes place on Earth-16 ), suffered through an abusive situation at home with his parents. No sign of this has been shown in YJ, though his parents have been shown as slightly distant ( “Coldhearted” ), at least physically, but a counterargument may be made against this with the incident that took place in “Misplaced,” where he and his parents hugged at the end. A counterargument may be made against that, saying that it only stemmed from the severity of the situation that had recently been resolved ( the split of the world into two, one for adults and one for children ). If there is any form of abuse that might have shaped Wally’s personality, it would have most likely taken form in emotional neglect.

Wally is playful and a joker. He is often shown mouthing of, especially to villains and rivals; Artemis and he have had a relationship like this from almost their first encounter ( “Infiltrator” ), and he was confrontational with Red Torpedo and Red Inferno ( “Homefront” ). When it comes to playing around, he has been shown as very fond of kids; when Klarion and the other mystical villains split the world in two, Wally was shown playing with the kids he had helped rescue, letting them climb all over him ( “Misplaced” ). Also, in “Coldhearted,” he was shown as being very fond of Queen Perdita of Vlatava, whom he saved by racing a heart over to her for a transplant, and by exposing her uncle, Count Vertigo; the feelings of children toward Wally seem to be mutual, as expressed by Perdita.

Emotionally, Wally is impulsive and hot-headed. He has been labeled as “Kid Mouth” by members of the team, mostly because of his ability to quite easily run his mouth off and run his foot right into it. During “Insecurity,” he immediately jumped to blaming Artemis for the failure of the mission once Red Arrow accused her of planting a tracer on a train, sending them on a wild goose chase. When confronted with the possibility of death in “Denial,” he did not refrain from calling Miss. Martian “hot,” in front of the whole team, and he has been shown to flirt extensively with the aforementioned and Zatanna Zatara when she first interacted with the team ( “Humanity” ).

Ironically, he can be a little slow on the uptake about his feelings toward others, especially if they are particularly deep, and the feelings others have toward him. It took all the time from “Denial,” when Kent Nelson said he needed to find a “spitfire of his own, who’d never let him get away with anything,” to “Insecurity,” for him to acknowledge any sort of admiration toward Artemis; there were hints of this in “Bereft,” when both of them had lost six months of their memory and Wally openly flirted with her (but this can probably be considered a sign of his flirtatious nature). He also did not openly express his romantic feelings toward her until the final episode of the first season, “Auld Acquaintance,” where he kissed her and said, “I should have done this a long time ago.” As another side note, remembering important dates seems to be one of his failings; season two episode, “Salvage,” has explicitly stated that Wally forgot Saint Valentine’s Day four years in a row.

There is a possibility that Wally’s encounters with the Helmet of Fate, and Nabu’s hesitance in relinquishing his host bodies, has instilled a sort of fear concerning the life of superheroes. Wally is shown in the second season as being insistent on staying out of superhero business unless called upon in extreme emergencies ( “Bloodlines” ), to the point where he grows sullen and angry when this tenant is violated ( “Depths” ). The seeds of this may have first been planted when Wally first entered the control of the Helmet of Fate ( “Denial” ), saw Aqualad under its control, almost for good ( “Revelation” ), and ultimately seeing Zatanna lose her father to the Helmet ( “Misplaced” ).

Collecting souvenirs from his missions seems to be a hobby; his room at the base in Mount Justice is/was lined along a shelf with objects such as the Helmet of Fate, Cheshire’s mask, a mask from a Kobra acolyte, the arrow Artemis fired when they were fighting Ivo for the first time, the pack he used to transport Perdita’s new heart, etc. There is also a case for Wally being very fond of older movies, especially those in black and white; he dressed up as a werewolf in the more classic vein of the Wolfman for Halloween ( “Secrets” ). [ This episode also showed off his playfulness in his howling at Wolf and his participation in a prank at a dance. ] He also uses phrases from movies like Planet of the Apes [ “Get your paws off of her, you darn dirty ape.” ] ( “Revelations” ), and words like “stiff,” typical of movies set in the 1930s – 1950s ( “Coldhearted” ). Foreign languages also seem to be an interest for Wally; he has passing knowledge of both French and Latin, while he “Salvage,” has stated that he was taking a course on Vietnamese literature, leaving open the possibility that he was learning that language as well.

IC
Name: Luna Lovegood
Canon: Harry Potter
Canon Point: The Deathly Hallows, the party at Hogwarts
Age: 16

Personality:

Luna appears to live up to the nickname her classmates have given her -- Looney Luna Lovegood. She's distant, seemingly absent-minded, and her dazed expression coupled with her lilted voice and non-sequitur conversational cues seem to portray less than the picture of sanity. To say she's a bit odd is an understatement. Luna is very abstract in her thinking patterns, not only looking outside of the box but wondering what the box is made of and whether or not it's actually a box or a circle. However, this oddity and estrangement from conventional behavior has its advantages for Luna.

Luna  is both incredibly perceptive and empathetic. She can pick up on the slightest observations, and it's clear that even if the eyes have been staring at a rock for twenty minutes, her mind is working out the existential properties of the rock.  Not all who wander are lost is definitely a concept that applies to Luna's philosophy. Knowledge is a wonderful discovery, and can always be further explored. There is nothing but the abstracts for Luna, and linearity is often disregarded. She prizes creativity and innovation, and is always inspired by finding it in other people or animals. Luna always has one foot off the ground, figuratively speaking, and there is no capital T Truth, only a popular interpretation of it.

In the novels, Luna was sorted into the Ravenclaw house. Sortings determine both the inner personality of the student as well as the qualities they value the most. Ravenclaw holds its strengths in logic, wit, and learning, and it's clear that Luna prizes Thinking above all other things. She is vastly intelligent and clever, with one of the most open minds that the series has presented. She picks up on things easily, but the most important thing that Luna seems to gain from her mind is the ability to believe. Luna holds many bizarre and unorthodox views on the world, and while this may earn her scorn from her peers, it also allows her to hold faith in the impossible and overcome any societal impediments. If Luna believes something is right, she will support it wholeheartedly, and her imagination doesn't limit that in the slightest. JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, has stated that Luna is the most likely to 'think up ten impossible things before breakfast', and her creativity and ingenuity know very weak, if any, bounds. Luna goes into things feet forward, and knows that logical and bizarre aren't mutually exclusive terms.

In terms of temperament, Luna is very calm, almost airy about most things, and doesn't get frustrated or stopped by setbacks or obstacles. She is an open-hearted girl who never lets what others say bring her down. Frequently while in school Luna has been bullied, but her attitude towards it implies that she is not even aware of said bullying. Things are always taken in stride for Luna, she hardly gets angry, and her very zen temperament has been a subtle pillar of support for her friends. Luna doesn't let herself become affected by the darkness that surrounds her growing up, instead she continues to be a positive personality clad in ridiculously bright clothing. Simply put, Luna is kind and always sincere. Said sincerity sometimes even overstepping into the offensive with her rather blunt manner of honesty. She doesn't sugar coat things, and calls the situation as she sees it oblivious to the social norms around her. She also gets lost in her own thoughts often, coming across as vacant minded or even rude when she ignores what's happening right in front of her because she's too busy focusing on the obsolete theories of quantum transfiguration.

While not much can offend or bother Luna, there are a few things that set off her darker side.  A daddy's girl through and through, any problems someone has with the Quibbler (the wizard equivalent of a tabloid that her dad writes) is viewed almost as direct attack on her. She can get very cross with people who are closed minded, and cold when someone disregards her theories because it's not the capital T Truth. She has little respect for people who don't respect others, and checks out of conversations with them by retreating to her own, special, Luna-land inside her mind. She has a very clear and easy manner of approaching the world, but it's solid and unshakeable. Her modus operandi is simple, but she has never compromised it. With Luna, there is always an easy acceptance waiting for you, if you can get passed the weird abstractness.

On the whole Luna is one third zen, two halves imagination, and one fourth absurdity. And if you complain about that adding up to be more than one, well, she would tell you that you simply aren't paying attention.

History: Here!

Canon Abilities or Powers:

Abilities:
Creativity and Innovation: Luna definitely has a handle on looking outside of the box, and her unique views on things allow her the ability of belief despite logic, which as been a phenomenally useful resource when she is on a team with more logical minded people. It also grants her a lot of imagination and innovation, such as her creating her own enchanted clothing items in canon.

Observation: Luna is incredibly perceptive of her surroundings, giving her high observational skills. Often communicated in less than orthodox ways.

Naturalism: Luna has a habit and love for creatures, with a very wide knowledge of wildlife as well as mannerisms.

Powers:
Luna is a witch, meaning that she is able to cast a variety of magical spells and curses with the use of a wand. Luna in particular has been shown to be very adept at dueling and casting the Patronus Charm, a defensive spell powered by happy thoughts, which takes the shape of a hare. Charm work and defense against the dark arts are strong areas for her, and in particular she is fond of the Care of Magical Creatures.

Fairy Tale Role: The Mad Hatter (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:  The Hatter is often used to play with the conventions of time in both novels (such as when he is being sentenced for a crime before he commits it, and how the guest Time at the tea party traps both him and the March Hare at 6:00 forever). I'd like to translate this as Luna being able to freeze time in six second incriments. Because that just seems like the right thing to do as it's totally nonsensical and ultimately useless, much like Hatter's riddles and poems.

She can also now fashion very stylish hats.

Personal Items:
-one magic wand
-School robes (Ravenclaw)
-a necklace made out of bottlecaps
-two radish earrings
- a satchel full of back issues of The Quibbler ( a magical sensationalist magazine comparable to the National Enquirer)

First Person Sample:

This is certainly exciting. I don't believe I've had the opportunity to make hats before. Though I do wonder how so many strangers have already learned one of my many colourful nicknames.

Anyway, it is very nice to finally talk to everyone, even if it is only through these letters. You see, it's been quite a while since I've had the opportunity to make new friends, because my current ones are so prone to being eventful, and being eventful takes up much of my time.

I am slightly concerned about the dislocation, however. I don't remember coming here, so you have to wonder where all that traveling distance went. Things never go well when large expanses of time go missing.

Third Person Sample:

She supposed there were worse things to be subjected to than sitting in a dungeon. At least, that's the conclusion Luna came to as she sat down next to a quivering Mr Ollivander, hands clasped in front of her and thumbs twiddling in thought.

After all, even if the sunlight only came in once in a while or not at all, at least there were candles. And though the floor of the dungeon was littered with something Luna could only assume was goblin bones, she had yet to see any human shaped ones so that was certainly to her favor. And the torture that had resulted from all the questioning? That had only been physical, which meant it would heal, and she hadn't had the opportunity to give up Harry Potter's whereabouts because she thankfully hadn't a clue as to where abouts they were. So. There were quite a few things worse than sitting in a dungeon.

Though Luna was beginning to suspect that her natural affinity for dungeon cell sitting was due in part to have potions in Professor Snape's classroom nearly every day for six years. She would have to remember to write him a thank you note after she had departed from this place. It was only kind, after all, and it explained why Mr Ollivander was having so many struggles. Mr Ollivander had been out of school for quite some time.

Luna turned to him, noticing again that he had become quite unsociable and withdrawn again. That wouldn't do. Luna was a firm believer that the first rule of being held a captive prisoner was to do it with amiable conversation, as it was the most counterproductive thing they could do in a situation like this.

Looking around, Luna felt a small smile crawl up her face. "Lovely weather we're having down here, isn't it?"

Mr Ollivander stared at her as if she had grown two heads, but Luna was not to be deterred.

"At least it's not raining. I don't think I'd do well having to sit in one place with rain all the time. It'd get chilly after a while." She tapped a finger against her chin, "They could do that, I think. If they wanted. So in a way, they truly aren't using the full potential of this dungeon, don't you think Mr Ollivander?"

Mr Ollivander stared, before muttering, "No, I suppose they aren't."

Luna beamed. "That's very good."

At least he was talking now. Luna would hate to have to spend her dungeon captivity in the company of someone so sad.
"Have you ever heard of multiphasing bandicoots?"

"No..."

"Well, let me be the first to inform you that they are quite unpleasant to deal with in the hot weather. Such information may save your life, you know."

And so the hours began to pass, as Luna cataloged her entire knowledge of obscure, but perfectly real, creatures.

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: No.

IC
Name: Xykon
Canon: The Order of the Stick
Canon Point: Stip 899
Age: 107

Personality: Xykon is Evil with a capital E. Not 'troubled', not 'tragic', not in the least bit sympathetic. Xykon is evil in every possible way, small and large. He is absolutely cruel and willfully sadistic. All things being equal, he will inevitably choose to cause suffering and torment to any creature, including his own allies. In periods of adversity, his team spirit rises, but once he's back in control he ignores anything and anyone that doesn't entertain him -- and the only thing that really entertains him is suffering.

Born a sorcerer, Xykon has no patience for the intelligentsia of wizards, who look down on those who have magic come naturally to them instead of earning their power through study and dedication. Nor does he have patience for tactics, strategy, or planning. He knows this! He is well aware of his general impatience and willful ignorance of these things. In his living years this caused him a great deal of trouble, and led to him really accomplishing very little of substantial note, but after his transformation to undeath he came to realize that it was simply possibly to blast through anything if you're strong enough -- and thus far Xykon has certainly been strong enough to overcome almost any opposition.

The only other thing that truly matters to Xykon is style. It isn't enough to do horrible deeds and pursue ultimate goals -- you have to do them with pizzazz. If he can time the use of a spell to add perfect drama to a situation, he will. If he can showcase his power with some overwhelming display of force, he will. He cracks jokes, delivers one-liners, pauses battles to flaunt his greatness, and lectures the heroes on their flaws and weaknesses while casually ignoring their abilities. But when he's put on the ropes, Xykon tosses style out the window; winning is much more important than losing with style. In fact, Xykon believes the real key to power is simply how far you're willing to debase yourself to win. As he himself points out, he let himself be turned into a lich just to win a battle. Pride, standards, decency, refusing to take a winning action for any reason whatsoever -- these are weakness.

Outside of those moments, though, Xykon is rarely serious. He's on top of the world and he knows it, even with a minor setback here and there. He's got power, style, and everything on his side that matters. And eternity to enjoy it. Why shouldn't he have some fun?

Despite all these advantages, Xykon is no deep thinker. Unless he's being very serious (which is rare), he does things to amuse himself before anything. That means he will cheerfully slaughter his own minions and anger his own allies just for a laugh. He is virtually incapable of making friends; his allies are essentially chained to him by his manipulation, which means they have no qualms about manipulating him in turn if they believe they can get away with it.

Going along with his desire for amusement, he also plays the role of evil villain incredibly straight, including deliberately invoking classic tropes and flaws in that personality. Though by all means a massive threat when he has his act together, he generally prefers to screw around and have fun -- which has massively bitten him on the butt a couple of times in canon, causing him to lose his body because he turned his back on one of the heroes, and much later to lose his phylactery because he'd been toying around with and torturing a paladin. He once conducted a job interview in the middle of battle just because he could, then bragged about it by sending the new hire down to his ally with a note specifically for that purpose.

Interestingly, for all his power, Xykon is absolutely terrible at finding anything to do with it without help. During his entire lifetime he accomplished absolutely nothing of note, despite amassing a massive amount of sorcerous power. Only when an evil scheme of sufficient power was dropped in his lap did he actually manage to become a threat to the world.

As a side note, Xykon's home world is explicitly governed by the 3.5 rules of Dungeons and Dragons, and its inhabitants know that. Even though this one isn't, Xykon has absolutely no problem referencing rules mechanics or abilities (such as referring to an enchanted sword as +5, or noting that he has a +8 racial bonus to Listen and Spot checks in so many words).

History: Perhaps in wiki form?

Canon Abilities or Powers:

Xykon is a Epic lich sorcerer under D&D 3.5 rules. The links contain all the details necessary, but some expansion:

As a lich, Xykon is undead and immortal. He is able to endure a massive level of punishment (d12 Hit Dice), can see in the dark, cannot be affected by powers which affect the mind, is immune to poison, paralysis, sleep, stunning, disease, and death effects; cannot be beaten up (nonlethal damage) or weakened (ability damage), and doesn't get tired. Positive energy harms him; negative energy heals him. Any effect that would attack his vitality or health (transformation or petrification, for example) he automatically ignores unless it could also affect an inanimate object. He does not breath, eat, or sleep. He is immune to cold and electricity damage and hostile shapechanging effects. He takes substantially less damage from any physical attack which is not both magical and bludgeoning.

(These are all basic undead 'physical' traits, so they'll still be applicable in-game.)

Under normal circumstances, if destroyed, Xykon would regenerate from his phylactery. Because he does not have his phylactery in-game, normal death rules would apply.

Xykon does not seem to have a fear aura in canon, despite that being a lich ability. He very much does have the ability to paralyze with a touch (although it does not appear to be permanent), as well as harm with pure negative energy.

As a sorcerer, Xykon knows a list of spells and may cast any of them he desires, until he has expended all the spell slots he has available for spells of that level. Canonically, his spell list is as follows (taken from either a provided list, or spells he has been observed casting or showing the results of):

0th level: Ray of Frost, 8x unknown
1st level: Magic Missle, Burning Hands, 3x unknown
2nd level: Shatter, 4x unknown
3rd level: Lightning Bolt, Protection from Energy, 2x unknown
4th level: Animate Dead, Greater Invisibility, Resilient Sphere, Stoneskin
5th level: Cloudkill, Overland Flight, Symbol of Pain, Xykon's Moderately Escapable Forcecage (Estimated spell level. The spell creates bars of force around one humanoid creature which anchor themselves in the ground.)
6th level: Contingency, Unknown x2
7th level: Finger of Death, Mass Hold Person, Greater Teleport
8th level: Symbol of Insanity, Ghostform (no link available, but basically does exactly what it sounds like), Unknown
9th level: Energy Drain, Meteor Swarm, Soul Bind
Epic level: Superb Dispelling (ludicrously high chance to dispel magic effects and suppress magic items), Epic Mage Armor (shields the caster with invisible force, making them near-impossible to hit), Cloister (he can't cast Cloister, he doesn't have the focus he needs for it).

Known Feats: Craft Wonderous Item, Maximize Spell, Still Spell, Craft Ring, Craft Ring (Epic)

Fairy Tale Role: Genie of the Lamp (Aladdin)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:

Xykon can grant wishes. Straight up grant wishes, so long as they don't involve messing with rocs or undoing the wok of another genie. The 'owner' of the lamp, which is to say the person physically holding it, must state the wish out loud in Xykon's presence. Making a wish doesn't require an explicit 'I wish' statement, but the statement does need to be directed to Xykon (although what is 'addressed' to him is up to his own discretion).

Xykon, of course, is as chaotic evil as they come, so every single one of his granted wishes will pretty much take a total jackass-genie interpretation unless it's very self-serving. (From an OOC perspective, this is a very significant power-balance on the ability, because frankly there shouldn't be any wish made without a heaping handful of hilarious regret.)

Xykon is bound to a lamp, which he is forced to dwell within until the lamp is rubbed. (For playability purposes, he'll still be able to use his network story book while imprisoned.) Once the lamp is rubbed, he can emerge to do the bidding of the owner, and (again for playability purposes) hang out outside of the lamp until such time as it no longer has an owner or until he is commanded to return to it.

An owner is not limited to three wishes, but may make as many as they want.

Personal Items: Robes, a spell component pouch (which contains spell components in effectively unlimited supply, thanks to the mechanics of D&D which does not require them to be tracked), a Ring of Energy Immunity (fire) (nonfunctional in-game, of course), and a crown that has no magical power but radiates purest evil from long association with Xykon.

First Person Sample: Seriously, what the hell.

I'm not sure what irritates me most -- being imprisoned in a tiny formless void, being stripped of the henchmen and cronies I spent so long digging my metaphorical fingers into the brains of, having only a quill and a book straight out of another intellectual property referencing secret chambers for company, or the fact that I'm so bored I'm actually using that book.

'Slave' of the lamp isn't very politically correct, is it? I'm pretty certain a liberal watchdog group should be campaigning for my release out there. The fez that came with the gig is pretty snappy, though...

Third Person Sample: "It's a deed." When his ostensible 'master' didn't take the rolled-up paper from his hand, Xykon practically shoved it at him. "To Castle Grimfalcon. Approximately twelve thousand miles from the nearest gate point to the Prime Material Plane it's on, but currently all yours just like you wanted. I distinctly heard you say, 'I wish I had a castle.' Well, now you do!" Xykon slapped his master on the back roughly, extending one bony arm in an invitation to view the imagined magnificence of his granted wish.

"Oh, I depleted your wallet and investments to pay off the back taxes to the Kingdom of Skull-Eating Malice, in which the castle is located. One of the better names for a country I've heard. And there's a small dragon infestation in the courtyard, but nothing above wyrm age. And I'm pretty sure the ancient curse of haunting and misfortune only applies to the owner if they're in the same multiverse, which there's a very real if tiny chance we might not be."

Leaving his master to his slack-jawed horror, Xykon stepped a few feet ahead of him, then with an unzipping motion opened a black, red-rimmed portal to the darkest depths of hell itself. From the infernal void beyond, several massive hounds of unfathomable size and truly malefic appearance lunged at the portal, baying like screaming souls and snarling with the desire to rip flesh from bones and souls from bodies. Fire and ash fell from their mouths as they struggled to push past each other into the mortal world. "Now, let's pick out that puppy you wanted."
