To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Personality:
Cynthia is first and foremost, a lady. She is poised, she is well mannered, she is polite, and she makes sure to keep herself clean and all costs. She is a pacifist, refusing to get into fights and doesn't really enjoy battling unless it involves teaching other trainers or saving someone from danger. She takes pride in the fact that she’s the first female champion since she proved to others that girls are just as strong as boys and because of this, no one should even dare to call her out on her gender.

She takes her job very seriously and makes it a point to keep track and take care of anything and everything going on in her region. Everything from curing that group of psyducks so that they’d stop blocking the path to route 210 to entering another dimension to make sure Giratina won't end up destroying Sinnoh and probably the world. Sadly the only downside to her job, as amazing as it is, is all the paperwork she has to deal with. Of course as the champion, everything has to go through her before it gets approved, and to her, it’s just a big pain.

She loves the travelling. Cynthia finds it impossible to stay in one place. But this is due to her hobby of searching and studying the different myths and legends of the different regions. Which is why she’d usually turn up at random places like caves or ruins and would just endlessly stare at cave drawings or random stones like they were the most interesting things in the world. Probably another notable thing about her is her massive sweet tooth. If one were to ask her to pick her poison, she would definitely tell you she’s want ice cream. But really she’s good with anything sweet. This is because sweets are her form of anti-stress. After all, stressed is only desserts spelled backwards.

Moving on to a more detailed look at her likes and dislikes. She has high regard for her friends, her family and even her elites. She knows she would be nothing without them and so she makes it a point to protect those people at whatever the cost. Of course, as a trainer, she loves her pokemon. They were with her through thick and thin and she will forever be grateful for that. Which is also why she gets really irritated when people refer to them as pets. “Partners, not pets. There’s a difference.”
Cynthia also enjoys sweets, fashion, going to the beach during summer, taking care of pokemon, dealing with children, history, mythology and being a champion and an inspiration to others. Really to put it all in a nutshell, Cynthia loves being her. She’s quite happy with her life now and it’d take a lot to push her off the little pedestal of bliss that she was currently sitting on.

As for things she’s not particularly fond of, that includes things that threaten her home region, her friends and family, pokemon and historical treasures. Sometimes her work does join this list, but only when it piles up on her. And, of course, Team Galactic. It’s not really much of a list, but then, it would take a lot to make her dislike something.

She’s not really picky when it comes to talking to people. Honestly, Cynthia would talk to anyone given that they weren’t trying to harm her in any way, shape or form. She’d just prefer people with good manners, good grooming and sometimes, she’d rather just be surrounded by people her age. After all, her job involves inspiring children and of course it’d mean having to deal with a lot of them on a daily basis. So it’s not really weird that given a choice, she’d rather stay with people her age rather than little kids (no offense to anyone reading this).

Lastly, she has been exposed to more legendaries than a normal person should and so she has this tendency to talk on and on about her different experiences while travelling as if they were war stories coming from a veteran. But other than that, she’s just a regular pokemon league champion.

Canon Abilities or Powers: Well as a pokemon champion and as a field researcher, Cynthia is very good with wilderness survival, first aid and wilderness activities such as cave diving and mountain climbing. She is also well educated in the fields of pokemon world history, geography and especially mythology. Lastly, she can play the piano (something I tossed in since her prebattle music is a beautiful piano solo)

Fairy Tale Role: The princess in the chest
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
Let me list them here so I could explain them better.

*Turning into a demon at night – In the story, every night between midnight and 1am, the princess would come out of the coffin. But she was more of a hideous being that would howl and scream for the sentry stationed to watch over her coffin. The story doesn’t specifically say what she does to them but it is implied that she eats them. So for the sake of plot development, let’s just say she’s a danger to others between 12mn and 1am when she’s in that state.

*Split personality – When she is not in her demonic form, she is still sometimes able to communicate with the beastly version of herself. Usually when she’s asleep or when she sees her reflection does it come out to haunt her.

*Ability to see the dead- There is a part of the story that mentions that because the poor smith entered the coffin with the princess. Their souls were both bound by a wedding by the dead. Now I’d like to think that the princess’ coffin had a link to the land of the dead and so being in it for so long, she had gained the ability to see and talk to the dead.

*Immense Claustrophobia –Cynthia isn’t actually claustrophobic in canon. But I added it in because it makes sense. Being a princess that was stuffed in a box for a year.

*A fear and love of graveyard, churches and coffins- When the princess died she was stuffed in a box and kept inside a church. So Cynthia in her regular form would, of course, be terrified of that because history might repeat itself. But in retrospect, because she was dead in a box in a church for so long. Being in or near one of the three would actually strengthen her demon form. So naturally her other self would LOVE being near those places.

*Demon’s weaknesses- Now I only have two options for that. First was that the princess was born because her mother ate a special and very specific flower bud from a hairy bush. So if she keeps a bud with her, it keeps the demon sealed away. Second is being near her soul bound husband, Christian. Whoever he may be at the time.

* Her travel bag filled with the basic trainer necessities (potions, heals, a change of clothes, some food, survival gear, her wallet. But would probably last her a week or two though)

First Person Sample:
There is a demon here with me. I don’t know what it is or what it wants. But I implore you all to keep watch. I was told that every night she shrieks about war and pestilence. About a sentry her father never placed to keep watch over her. I’ve never personally seen here but there are far too many witnesses.

I’m scared. It’s getting dark so I must keep hidden.

To whoever reads this, my name is Cynthia. I’m currently locked in a chapel east of the forest. I haven’t seen nor heard from the demon yet. I sent my dragon outside to keep an eye out for it. But please send help.

Third Person Sample:
She wakes up screaming and in cold sweat once again. Lately Cynthia has been plagued by these nightmares of death, demons and being sealed away in a box. Upon arrival to this land, she found a book that told her she was part of a fairytale. But that was impossible. She wasn’t a princess who died and was sealed in a box. She was the first female champion of the Pokémon league. She came from a family of researchers from Celestic Town in Sinnoh. SHE HAS A DRAGON!

That book was a lie and those nightmares were probably nothing more than bad berries.

The champion rises from her makeshift bed and walks over to the nearby stream. She wasn’t at all scared of sleeping in a cold, dark forest since she knew her garchomp would always be there to protect her. But as she kneels over with cupped hands to pick up some water to splash on her face. There she was…

“Hello Princess…I have missed you…”
“No…No you can’t be real!”
“Oh but I am... As real as day... I am you after all...”

She shrieks. Startling garchomp and the birds roosting on the nearby trees. The champion may or may not have woken up a nearby town with her scream but as soon as she sees the demon in the water, she runs. Runs to the exit of the forest and into a nearby town. Garchomp trailing behind her with her things in tow. Cynthia didn’t know what to do, who else to turn to. So, with tears streaming down her face, she races to the first person she sees and clings to them for dear life.

“Please! Please you have to help me! There’s a demon in the woods and she’s out to get me!”

Thank you for your interest in Myth Making! The majority of your app looks good, but we'd like to see more fleshing out of the personality section, with examples backed by canon. Give us some reasons behind key points in her personality, why she's been shaped into the person she is.

We'd also like to see a revamp of the fairy tale powers. Abilities such as turning into a demon at night are acceptable, but the split personality and ability to see the dead aren't listed in the story, and the claustrophobia is more of a trauma and mental conditioning. As Cynthia hasn't really been through the story yet, she wouldn't possess the same sort of reaction as the princess.
