To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Name: Naoto Shirogane
Canon: Persona 4 Golden

Personality:
Typically a stoic and cool individual, Naoto is a product of her own ambitions and direct response to society around her. After losing her parents at a young age, Naoto began pursuing a position as a detective to continue her family's legacy. Under the tutelage of her Grandfather, she was enthused for the role, studying famous detectives in various mystery novels and assisting her only family with his own cases. Unfortunately, while hailed as an Ace Detective, she wasn't taken seriously by adults and sacrificing her childhood to succeed her father left her with little to no friends her age. Further and further she withdrew in, trying to act more adult-like to be accepted, but that only isolated her more.

Reality only pressured her more as she grew up. As competent as she continued to prove being, adults began to use any reason to discredit her abilities, her gender becoming the primary target. To rectify this, Naoto trimmed her hair short, deepened her voice, used male pronouns, and bound her chest as her body developed. She also proceeded to further bottle up her emotions, becoming a cold and distant individual with all her conversations becoming calculated, direct, and extremely formal. Despite all her efforts, she retained a stubborn tenacity that made her desire to see cases to full completion almost childish. In the deep recesses of her mind, she soon scorned being born female and the deep-rooted want to be accepted for who she really was would later become her Shadow.

Following her rescue, Naoto's issues with her gender and abandonment of many childhood interests become the central focus of her Social Link. Naoto admits to not really hating being born as she was, but wanting someone to need her as she is. No one needed the female Naoto because the male was better by social standards. Due to this and hiding herself from others, she became lonely and has no idea how to properly reintegrate herself with her peers. The conclusion of her Social Link has her admitting and accepting being a woman and stating she would strive to become a female detective worthy of her male counterpart's respect, justifying her place in the world.

Admission to herself aside, changing will still take time. Naoto remains polite and distant with people she's unfamiliar with and any immediate pushes towards being more feminine will be met with resistance and unnerve her. When caught off-guard like this, her voice becomes higher and she can become quite defensive, requiring a moment to recollect herself. Questioning her competence because of her age or gender are both quick ways to get on her bad side and she will become particularly icy to the individual as a result.

Canon Abilities or Powers: From the sea of her soul, Naoto is one of a few individuals capable of summoning her other self and give it a physical form to fight. This being is known as a Persona. Unlike other users who typically have an elemental alignment because of their Persona, Naoto takes command over the non-elemental spell series Megido as well as the instant-kill dark and light spells Mudo and Hama respectively. All other developing abilities both physical and magical typically lean towards wiping out crowds of enemies, protecting her friends, or boosting strength, defense and agility. While it's possible for her to learn high-level elemental magic, these require specific events to be met.

As her relationship with the Main Character develops, Naoto finds resolve in herself which allows her Persona to rise to a new state. For Mythmakers, she'll have reached complete acceptance of herself which, near the end of her game, allows her Persona to awaken to Yamato-Sumeragi.

Outside of supernatural abilities, Naoto is a Detective with skill. Her Grandfather taught her how to wield various guns as well as taught her necessary self-defense techniques. Rarely are they utilized as Shirogane Detectives are typically called upon for the unsolvable cases. She's rudely called the '2000 IQ Killjoy Detective' during Arena because she is a straight-shooter logically speaking.

Fairy Tale Role: Beauty from "Beauty and the Beast" by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Born the daughter of a King and Fairy, Beauty inherits part of her mother's magic. While unable to do anything as extravagant as a true fae (granting wishes, influencing massive weather changes, permanent transformations, etc.), Beauty can still perform smaller spells related to various flora, summer in particular. These various spells include (but not really limited to) making small patches of flowers bloom, restoring withered plants to life, making saplings, and growing vines.

Personal Items:
The personal items Naoto will retain would be: her clothes at the moment, the hat she wears, a personal pocket notebook, and a pen. She didn't have her gun at the instant she was taken, so no weapon.

For days I have researched in the library, but so far, I have not uncovered why we are here. Further, I have yet to discover why I have come to be known as 'Beauty' and Kanji-kun 'Beast'. Perhaps it is a commentary on how we work together; not that I have qualms with this arrangement looking past the various expectations with these titles.

The castle provides solitude when required and the servants are pleasant. However, their presence does influence my homesickness. What's worse was the trip to the market today. A merchant spoke to me with much familiarity and even hugged me. I was in a state of shock that I really couldn't repel this confrontation. If I recall correctly, in many of the accounts of Beauty and the Beast, this merchant was Beauty's father. I couldn't speak to him; I had to excuse myself. Maybe this encounter is why I cannot bring myself to read through the archives for now.

I'll take a moment's reprieve. If I cannot get over it, well, I don't know what to do then.
