❅ Applications

Applications are: CLOSED
Indefinitely.

To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Test drive memes will go up on our meme comm, [community profile] mythmemes, the same day reserves open!

Mei | Pokemon (Gameverse)

[personal profile] direhit 2013-12-05 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
IC
Name: Mei
Canon: Pokemon Black/White 2. Specifically, I'm taking her from White 2
Canon Point: Just after the credit roll/after beating the Elite 4 and returning home.
Age: 15 Age is never mentioned in canon, but all trainers can start their journey at the age of 10. Judging by her appearance, she looks older than that, so I'm settling for 15.

Personality:
Mei (or "Rosa" as she's known by her chosen English name as well) is a silent protagonist in the games. Though she does have a little bit of dialogue in the male route of the games, where she isn't the protagonist, a lot of the details of her personality are up to the mun. As such, this is my own interpretation of the character.

Mei seems like a pretty easy character to figure out. She's perky, bubbly and almost always has a smile on her face. Considered something like an eternal optimist, she's the kind of girl to see the world's metaphorical glass always half-full as opposed to half-empty. Able to see the good in others, this trait allows her to remain level-headed, kind and willing to take chances. One prime example would be comparing her behaviour towards the old Team Plasma members and how her best friend, Hugh, acts towards them. Whereas the boy is more rash, brash, and easily leads to conclusions that the former members are still evil, Mei stays behind to listen to their words and pleas for help. Even though her very best friend is vocal on his strong opinions, she makes her own opinions and choices without outside influences. In that way, she's pretty unbiased, a trait that's hard to come by for someone her age.

That does lead into her willingness to help. Mei might be a little naive in her views of the world and how she reacts and acts in some circumstances, and she doesn't seem to have any alternate or hidden motives for trying to help people. It just simply seems that Mei likes to help people for the sake of helping others. After all, if you have the chance and opportunity to do so, why not? Sometimes though, this can lead to her being a little, well, annoying and persistent, not knowing when exactly she's bothering people and when she should be leading subjects alone. But she is a girl that means well, and her heart's in the right place.

And when around others, her heart is certainly noticeable since she practically wears it on her sleeve. Mei can be a patient, helpful, cheerful young girl, but she certainly can't hide all her emotions. This could be the one thing that allows her to connect with others more easily; she's very real with her emotions and how she interacts with others. It really does beg the question of how real she is though, since she is a rather successful actress at PokeStar Studios, but seeing as those are less realistic circumstances, she is able to hide them more than some other people.

Which brings us to her two major passions: Pokemon and acting. Pokemon training is something she has always wanted to do in her life, and when faced with the chance to being her own adventure with Hugh, Mei practically jumps at the chance and continues to remain enthusiastic about traveling and meeting new people and Pokemon throughout her journey. Acting, however, was something she fell into, an opportunity that she was approached with after some battles in Virbank. Regardless, Mei ran into the movie business whole heartedly after just a little bit of advice and guidance and after gaining the trust of the man who runs the facility. What Mei's passions are are strong and fierce, even when she's fraught with new opportunities and choices to make. Her enthusiasm and willingness to do new things is almost unparallelled, and fits in well with her outgoing personality.

Although it can be said that she can sometimes she can be a little too passionate. Despite her cute outwardly appearance and bubbly personality, Mei's something of a different girl when actually faced with a battle. She doesn't cheat or is absolutely brutal, but for such a cutesy girl, her strategies in battle are intense, and she very rarely, if at all, backs down from a challenge. She puts her whole heart into trusting her Pokemon's abilities in battle, and relies a little more on offense than defensive strategies. Of course, she's not completely careless, and her Pokemon are her friends as well as her teammates, so using items to help heal them is not something that's completely beyond her.

Yet, for her intensity and powerful passions, she's still a teenage girl. And when faced with extremely dangerous situations, like being frozen solid by Kyurem under Ghestis' command, she will freeze up in fear. Some things she can handle better, but if push comes to shove and she can't handle what she's faced with, Mei will doubt herself and may be paralyzed with fear. She can recover, and do so enough to overcome obstacles, but may need a little bit of support from others around her. There's only so much stress that one girl can handle.

Overall, she's a very simple girl in her views. She loves exploring, with a natural curiousity to discover new things, and honestly, truly cares deeply for other around her, whether they be Pokemon or human. It might be a naive and childish approach to life, but it is her driving force and what gives her strength and courage to face whatever she can head on.

History: Pokemon Black/White for supplementary background information - Black/White 2 - Unova Region History - Mei's Tiny History

Canon Abilities or Powers: None! Mei's a perfectly normal human being. She just carries a Pokemon Trainer license!

Fairy Tale Role: Alice (Alice in Wonderland)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: Alice sadly has no specific abilities of her own, except for her wild curiousity. However, some of Wonderland's size changing will be affecting her role, as Alice questions her identity throughout the story because she keeps constantly changing all the time. Mei's ability to adapt to nearly any serious or acting situation allows her to change in the same way. Thus, consuming foods or drinks can allow her to alter her size, either by shrinking or growing larger. It doesn't work all the time or with everything Mei eats, so it'll be something she needs to work on.

I know that this is not so much of an ability or power in itself, but size changing is a huge factor and theme in the original story. I'd like to incorporate it as a sort of ability, although one not entirely under her control, if at all possible.

Personal Items:
+ Her Serperior, Hibiscus
+ Hibiscus' Pokeball
+ Her XTransceiver
+ One collapsible bicycle
+ Her Pokedex

First Person Sample:
I'm probably not the only one who thinks this is all kind of weird, right?

I mean, some of it's exciting. The whole new world thing is pretty amazing! I never knew that there was such a thing as other worlds outside of our own. That's pretty incredible, and it would be a lot of fun to explore all the options and places and see what's new or different. For example, practically no one here has heard of Pokemon before, and that's pretty much impossible back home! Everyone knows of or about Pokemon. It's always felt like a universal thing! Here, Hibi just gets the odd look from the locals... and the occasional compliment c:

At least when she's not towering over me when I shrink...

So I guess I'm kind of curious. How different is this place to you guys? Anything comforts missing from home?
