❅ Applications
Indefinitely.
To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened. Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod. You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time. Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game! Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation. Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them. You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban. ✒ IC
Name: Faris Scherwiz
Canon: Final Fantasy V
Canon Point: Early on, after getting separated from Syldra and the ship drifts into the Ship Graveyard. Note: At this canon point she still is unaware that she's royalty, though she has suspicions.
Age: 20.
Personality:
In canon, Faris is attributed with the element of fire, due to her courage. She's fiercely loyal and protective of those she cares about and recklessly jumps to their aid. When her sister (Lenna) is being accosted by hunters, even when the rest of the hero party is helplessly stuck on the other side of a chasm, Faris doesn't hesitate to leap across to save Lenna. Pre-canon, this courage earns her the respect of the pirates who raised her and she was made pirate captain by the age of fifteen for her heroics in rescuing their ship from being sucked into a whirlpool.
But being heroic and brave doesn't mean she's necessarily self-sacrificing. Before joining the heroes on their journey (and before learning that Lenna (the princess of Tycoon) is actually her sister), she initially considers taking Lenna for ransom, and initially when she does join them, it's because she wants to learn about her forgotten past. At the end of the game, instead of staying behind to take her place as the Queen of Tycoon, she opts to run off, and return to her life as a pirate, valuing her freedom more than any obligations she may have as a monarch.
To put it all simply, Faris lives by her own rules and her own moral code. While she prefers the nomadic life of a pirate, and doesn't really like to get wrapped up in the day-to-day trivialities of the kingdoms around her, she isn't so callous as to not care when the world is in danger. When she's chosen as one of the destined warriors to save the Crystals and the world, she falls into her role quickly and without complaint.
Having lived most of her life disguising her gender, Faris doesn’t exactly subscribe to traditional gender roles, and she's far from ladylike. She has a very "take it or leave it" sort of view on life and doesn't waste a lot of energy on what she thinks is trivial. When the party discovers that she is a woman, her response is little more than "Deal with it". (Galuf: Oh, my stars and comets! HE'S A SHE! Faris: Well- maybe I am! You got a problem with it!?)
While she's pretty rough around the edges when you first meet her, Faris does have a softer side to her (deep, deep down inside), and she cares deeply for those close to her. In the beginning of the game, when she discovers Lenna has an identical pendant, she is determined to figure out if she finally found her birth family, and she grows quite attached to her sister and her father. The sea dragon, Syldra is Faris' closest friend, and almost like a sister to her, and when she dies, Faris is heartbroken, and takes to quietly mourning her friend. The softer sides of her are few and far between, though, and she’s more likely to respond harshly, even when she really is worried (when Galuf is dying "Get up, you old bat! Quit playing around, this isn't funny!")
History: Herefinalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Faris_Scherwiz
TL:DR: Faris was born a princess but lost as sea as a child and raised as a pirate. Eventually discovers who she really is, helps save the world, and returns to her life as a pirate.
Canon Abilities or Powers: In the game, each crystal they find gives them new “jobs” to learn the skills from (i.e. black mage, white mage, thief, dragoon, etc). She's from early in the canon, after only getting the first crystal so the only jobs available to her would be Knight, Monk, Thief, Black Mage, White Mage and Blue Mage. but I'm fine with her losing any magical ability and just sticking with skill with a sword/normal pirate-y skills.
Fairy Tale Role: The Prince(ss?) (The Prince and the Pauper)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: None really. The ability to pass as both nobility and commoner?
Personal Items: A sword, the clothes on her back, a pendant (that is identical to the pendant the princess of Tycoon wears)
First Person Sample:
[Pirates aren't well known for their love of books and writing, but Faris is a little more learned than others of her station. Still, when she finally takes to writing in the mysterious book with the magically appearing letters, her handwriting is unpracticed and sloppy. The text is rife with spelling errors.]
Prince huh?
Don't think this book is mine, but if you know the bloke who dropped it, let him know he can have it back-
[There's a significant pause before she adds:] For a small fee, of course.
[Sorry, Faris still has to eat, and this book ought to be worth at least a few gold (or whatever passes for gil around here).]

I know the characters don't have to be the same gender as the role they're taking on, but since Faris is a woman who disguises herself as a man, would she still be considered a Prince or would it switch to Princess? (i.e. if it ever comes up in game, which gender would her in-game kingdom be expecting her to be?)
