❅ Applications

Applications are: CLOSED
Indefinitely.

To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Test drive memes will go up on our meme comm, [community profile] mythmemes, the same day reserves open!

Finn | Warrior U

[personal profile] equinophobicbard 2013-12-08 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Eventually Finn's mother brought him with her to crash a party at the palace like they often do, and it didn't take Finn long to start exchanging insults with a squire named Darren. While Darren made fun of Finn's lack of physical prowess, Finn targeted Darren's father, who had been turned into a frog by Finn's mother. Darren was very close to his father and carried him around everywhere(to make sure no one stepped on him and because his father was still supposed to be his knightly mentor), so quickly lost his temper and nearly attacked Finn. Remembering that Finn's overprotective mother was in the area was the only thing that stopped him from doing so, but Darren didn't intend to just let it go. Instead, he started plotting to take down Finn's mother once and for all, which conveniently enough also meant targeting Finn as Darren considered him her only weakness.

The next day at school their teacher announced that the princess was holding a tournament and was challenging their class to compete against the palace's kids. Darren had mentioned that Finn wouldn't last a second at a tournament during his trip to the palace, so he knew that this couldn't be a coincidence. While Finn immediately began to dread this, Harv excitedly took initiative in planning for it. Unfortunately for them, they needed a horse for jousting and most of kids in their class were too poor to afford one. With Harv unable to use his family's plowhorse and Finn telling them not to bother asking him for help with that because of his fear of horses, Harv decided to try and make Hevvin act as their horse. After all, he still believed that there was no way that a unicorn was actually evil. To draw Hevvin out, the class tied a very unhappy Finn to a tree to use him as bait, and sure enough the unicorn appeared to take another stab at killing Finn. Shapeshifting into his human form to ask Harv why Finn was "floating"(he's not exactly bright) allowed Harv to discuss the tournament with him, and Hevvin agreed to help them as long as they let him wear a feather on his head. It could also be the perfect opportunity to finally kill Finn, after all...

Unfortunately for Finn, his mother couldn't show up to assist him with her magic due to having to meet with some other witches, so Finn was stuck cowering behind his classmates instead, waiting for Darren to strike. Despite them actually managing to get a "horse" to ride, jousting ended up going to horribly because Hevvin ran off to attack Finn halfway through. Archery didn't go so well either; while Finn miraculously managed to hit the target, he was up against the princess who was well known for being a good shot with her beloved crossbow. Harv, however, tried to remain optimistic, claiming they could catch up to the other team in the melee. Hevvin takes this opportunity to imply that he's going to use the melee to try and make another attempt on Finn's life, and Finn was not really keen on the idea of actually fighting for himself for once so as soon as the melee started he snuck off the field and into a nearby tent to play his harp.

Finn wasn't the only one abandoning the battle, however, and found himself joined in his tent by none other than Darren. Brandishing a real sword(not allowed in the tournament), Darren announced that he was going to kill Finn for revenge on his mother. As Finn began to cry and beg for his life, Darren offered him a sword to fight back with, and at that Finn finally screamed for Harv to come save him at the top of his lungs. Abandoning his battle with one Darren's friends, Harv entered the tent to see what was going on and Finn immediately hid behind him and climbed onto his back for protection. Calling a timeout, Finn explained the situation to his classmates(with an obvious bias), but Harv's promise to protect him from Darren wasn't enough for Finn. He wanted to him to kill him or at least put ants in his pants or something, because Darren was a threat and he needed to be taken care of. Harv, however, refused to do anything but fight honorably, so Finn angrily stormed off to find someone who would play dirty.

Apparently Finn was scared enough of Darren to team up with his worst enemy, because it was Hevvin that Finn turned to out of sheer desperation. Finn managed to convince Hevvin to help after bringing up the fact that Hevvin would be unable to kill him himself if Darren did it, and even claimed he'd let Hevvin kill him if he helped him take care of Darren(this of course, was a big fat lie). Harv ended up getting into a fight with Darren to protect Finn from him, and Finn used this to his advantage to sneak around. Getting a sack with...something...in it from Hevvin, Finn returned to his classmates to find Darren had defeated Harv. After all, Harv may have been a good fighter, but Darren was a squire.

As Darren moved towards Finn to make another attempt on his life, Finn revealed what he'd gotten Hevvin to fetch for him, pulling Darren's father(in frog form, of course) out of the sack and threatening to step on him if Darren got any closer. While he hardly wanted Darren to kill Finn, Harv was understandably disappointed with Finn's behavior. Finn immediately got defensive, bringing up the fact that he didn't have a father and complaining about all the murder attempts he'd had to deal with lately. An angry Darren informed him that this wasn't about him, but his mother's tyranny.

Lucky for Finn, his mother finally showed up to help him--although she wasn't in good shape due to the witches she'd met with poisoning her. She offered to kill Darren, but surprisingly enough Finn told her not to(to please Harv), instead taking her home to take care of her. Unfortunately, Finn leaving meant his class was disqualified from the tournament, so none of his classmates were particularly pleased with him.

Eventually, the king took notice of the disappearances caused by Hevvin's murders. The team of monster hunters immediately went to Finn's house, believing his mother to be responsible, and trapped her in a strange contraption. However, a man(actually Hevvin in his human form, wearing a cloak to hide his horn) approached them shortly after claiming to know who the true culprit was. Leading them to Warrior University, he claimed Finn was responsible, pulling his shirt off and showing them the hole in his chest. Obviously that made Finn a zombie, so he must be the killer. Attempting to prove his innocence, Finn removed Hevvin's cloak and revealed him as a unicorn...but that only made the monster hunters more inclined to trust him, as Finn was pretty much the only person in the universe that mistrusted unicorns by default. Believing a pure being such as a unicorn couldn't possibly be lying, they imprisoned Finn and threw a party in Hevvin's honor.

Once Harv found out, he went to visit Finn in jail, where Finn instructed him to go find his mother. However, when Harv got there, she was still stuck in the trap the monster hunters used on her. Busy with her escape attempt, she reluctantly entrusted Harv with the task of rescuing her son. With no idea of where to even begin, Harv returned to Finn, and the two argued briefly over Harv's trust towards Hevvin. Having seen all the skulls in Hevvin's house before, Finn suggested Harv follow Hevvin home and see for himself. Harv did so out of curiosity, and fainted from shock when he saw all the trophies of Hevvin's murders. Unfortunately for him, he woke up with Hevvin hovering over him, and quickly found himself restrained so Hevvin could kill him. Conveniently, one of the monster hunters showed up at Hevvin's door before he could, having come to fetch him for Finn's execution. Leaving Harv tied up in his house for later, Hevvin headed back to town to finish Finn off once and for all.

Hevvin arrived to where Finn was being held and, as Finn was being tied to a stake to be burned, bragged about what he'd done to Harv(implying he'd already killed him). To make things extra fun for himself, Hevvin stuffed a bag of gunpowder down Finn's shirt. The entire town had gathered to watch Hevvin execute Finn, but demanded a speech before he lit the fire, which stalled things long enough for Harv to escape and make his way back to town. Harv interfered at the last minute, knocking the torch out of Hevvin's hand and releasing Finn. The two of them ran for it, as Hevvin quickly regained the torch and pursued them.

Running into an alley and hiding behind a few crates, Harv apologized for never believing Finn about how evil Hevvin was and Finn apologized for sending Harv to Hevvin's house. While the two had believed themselves to be safe because Hevvin passed them by, they realized all too late that Hevvin was actually setting fire to exits(thus...also trapping himself, but Hevvin's hardly the brightest creature out there). Luckily for them, even in his human form Hevvin isn't really all that good at climbing, so they climbed up the side of one of the buildings. A frustrated Hevvin began shouting threats up at Finn("You can run, but I'll never stop hunting you! Your skull will decorate my house!" kind of deal), who stood frozen in place on the roof as Harv urged him to get moving. After a few long seconds of just standing there, though, Finn remembered the bag of gunpowder. Digging it out of his shirt, he told Hevvin to shut up and threw it into the fire near where Hevvin was standing. While the unicorn had supposedly been killed by the explosion the gunpowder caused, the fires were put out due to some convenient cartoon physics. With the entire ordeal officially over, Finn gave Harv a kiss on the cheek and thanked him for his help, then eagerly dragged him off to see his mother. Having only just escaped from her confinement when they arrived at Finn's house, she gave Harv a kiss on the cheek out of gratitude as well. Finn, of course, was still preoccupied with celebrating the unicorn's "death"...unfortunately for him, unicorns are magical and Hevvin wasn't going to die that easily.

As happy as the end of that particular incident left Finn, the trauma from almost being burned at the stake caused him to have a bit of a relapse into his agoraphobia. While he kept telling himself that it was finally safe to wander about without an escort, he found himself unable to get very far out his front door before he got too scared to bear it any longer and ran back inside. Unfortunately this led to Finn missing some class, but eventually he got sick enough of it to employ a favorite among cartoons--a giant slingshot, so he had no choice but to leave his house. Firing himself out of it, he found himself all the way at Harv's farm, and unfortunately landed right on top of a cake Harv's mom had baked for him.

Some time later, Finn decided he was going to have a slumber party. He figured it would be a convenient way to get out of going to a party at the palace with his mother--now that Darren's animosity towards him had turned violent, Finn was scared of going there rather than thrilled by it. Asking Harv to come over unfortunately didn't work out for him, however, because Harv was frankly too scared of Finn's mother to agree to spending the night at his house...and Finn had kind of said that his life was more important than Harv's in his sleepover proposal, so Harv wasn't exactly happy with him at the moment.

As Finn found himself dragged to the castle because he couldn't convince Harv to sleepover, Darren was unsurprisingly plotting again. He kidnapped Finn, hoping to bargain with his mother so she would stop terrorizing everyone...or at least turn Darren's father back into a human being again. Finn's mom agreed to the latter, but unfortunately didn't remember the spell offhand and had to run home and look for it. Due to her study being incredibly cluttered, Finn concluded that he'd be stuck with Darren all night...and was pretty okay with this, when it dawned on him that that was suspiciously similar to a slumber party when you took out the part where Darren was a threat to his safety.

But all of Finn's party attempts failed horribly as Darren refused to participate, and eventually his mother showed up to claim him. Although she couldn't find the spell, she did cast an illusion to intimdate Finn's captors before running off to think of another plan. Finn, determined to enjoy his "slumber party," decided to pull out his harp and start playing for Shiel and Darren.

This was a mistake.

Darren, already irritated, couldn't take Finn's behavior any longer and slapped the harp out of his hands. Unfortunately this broke Finn's precious harp--leaving Darren to feel guilty and Finn to mope over the loss of his favorite instrument.

But Finn's moping didn't last too long. Finn soon turned his attention back to Darren, suggesting they tell scary stories. Telling a "story" that basically amounted to his situation with Darren, he finished it by cursing Darren with misfortune. A horrified Darren accidentally knocked something off of his wall, and was knocked unconscious when it hit him on the head. Seeing this, Shiel fainted, leaving Finn to escape--and conveniently, his mother had just finished scaling the wall and was hovering outside Darren's window to take Finn home. A frustrated Finn left with her.

Finn is later seen doing a school project with Harv, completely clueless to his mother's staff being stolen and passed around the kingdom. It eventually finds its way back to Finn's house and Finn scolds Harv for having it.

Eventually Harv's brother Rhodri, who believed Finn was a girl, came and asked Finn's mother for "her" hand in marriage. Finding that absolutely hilarious and seeing an opportunity to get something out it, Leenan stuck Finn in a dress and told Rhodri he could if he brought her back a phoenix feather. Unfortunately for Finn, Rhodri actually managed, so in frustration he ripped the dress off to prove his gender to Rhodri. Rhodri, however...was more distracted by the giant hole in Finn's chest, and left in terror of the "zombie" before him.

Canon Abilities or Powers:
While all humans in this universe are capable of magic if they decide to learn it(it's a skill you have to acquire, not a natural gift), he's not very interested in it and generally refuses to learn anything about it. He tends to claim that he doesn't even know how to use it, but apparently this is a lie, according to the comic's creator, and he does know some spells. Unfortunately we don't know what he actually knows how to do and the mechanics of magic in this series are pretty vague, but because he's very against the idea of using magic it probably won't come up.

On a related note, Finn is only able to live because of his mother's magic. Without her rearranging his interal organs and such, he would've died when he was mauled by a unicorn as a child. Since she couldn't fix him completely or anything, he was left with a giant hole in his chest.
