❅ Applications
Indefinitely.
To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened. Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod. You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time. Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game! Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation. Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them. You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban. ✒ IC
Name: Kiki
Canon: Akagami no Shirayukihime
Canon Point: Chapter 42, after she tells Mitsuhide about the promise she'd made with Zen
Age: It's never outright stated, but it's implied that she's close to Zen's age (19) and younger than Mitsuhide (23), so I tend to say she's 20.
Personality: If you're looking for someone bright and cheerful, who always has an encouraging word and who can be relied upon to light up any situation--
Then you're looking for the wrong person.
Kiki is, first and foremost, succinct. She doesn't bother to waste her words when she chooses to use them, though she's even more likely to favor someone with a glare or a look that's more or less You're Being Stupid. Half of the time, all she really has to do is stare at someone, and they get nervous. When she does speak up, she's deadpan and stoic, though that isn't to say she doesn't have a sense of humor. She's perfectly straight-faced when she suggests that one of the boys in the group cross-dress, when Mitsuhide speaks up against her disguising herself to get taken by pirates. She's equally calm when Obi asks what she did to get Mitsuhide upset and what her promise with Zen entails, and she tells him that to find out, he needs to hug his knees and say "Only cats would come close to me." She composedly suggests that Mitsuhide and Obi should marry and, on the whole, comes off as someone who doesn't get ruffled by anything or anyone.
Because that's truly how she is and how she lived. Kiki is accustomed to fighting her own battles and to doing it alone, and it isn't until she meets Zen and Mitsuhide that she learns that she doesn't have to always face things on her own. There are people who believe in her and want to face those things with her, and to protect her while still acknowledging that she's strong. Ultimately, it's what earns them her loyalty, and once someone's earned it, it's hard to lose. Kiki will always support Zen, whether it be with a sword or with her presence as one of his aides, just as she supports the girl he fell in love with by speaking encouragingly to her and willingly going into a den of pirates in order to find Shirayuki and to protect her. With Mitsuhide, although they're close to polar opposites at a first glance, they're capable of working together seamlessly, and Kiki will take an additional step with him. She entrusts him with her sword, she thanks him for protecting her, and even if she's pretty tight-lipped when it comes to her own feelings, she does speak with him about the promise she made with Zen. She understands him, telling Obi that Mitsuhide is probably one of the only people Zen will listen to. They truly are partners, and it shows.
Beyond that, she's a fierce fighter who takes no crap from no one, and the wrong pretty face to try to hit on.
History: Here, but to expand...
Kiki serves as the aide of the younger of the princes of Clarines, and has been doing so for five years now. Before that she was the daughter of an earl who befriended the prince and his aide, Mitsuhide-- although for awhile, Mitsuhide had no idea of her status or that she was even female. During those days, she trained with them both, until a man who had initially proposed to Kiki (and got rejected) challenged her to a duel, two-on-two, for her hand in marriage. However, Kiki was naturally a solitary person, reflecting that "I have to protect myself, by myself. Because, until now, all I had... was myself."
The duel itself might have gone poorly, being two-on-one, except Mitsuhide interfered and joined the fight with a request to Kiki that she let him protect her. Additionally, Zen called out that if she was still alone, he'd protect her too, and asked for her to come with him to his castle. To gain experiences and knowledge that would help serve her as the next head of her household, her father agreed to let Kiki serve Zen for the next six years.
Jumping ahead, Kiki was already by Zen's side when he met Shirayuki, and while she's been around, she hasn't been the major subject in most of the arcs. She does get more of a spotlight when Shirayuki is captured by pirates, and Kiki volunteers to be the one to also get "captured", so as to help her escape and reunite with the others when the time is right. Her next arc concerns her backstory, in which she tells Mitsuhide the truth about her agreement with Zen and how long she has left. Otherwise, she's around to support her prince, to tease Mitsuhide with a very flat expression, or to just be her serious, supportive self.
Canon Abilities or Powers: As one of Prince Zen's aides, Kiki is very skilled with a sword, able to more than hold her own in most fights and singlehandedly launching a surprise attack on a group of pirates when they presumed her captive. She's demonstrated prowess with a bow as well. Other than that, she's just an ordinary person.
Fairy Tale Role: The princess in The Bear
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: First and foremost, the ability to turn into a bear, capable of speech; while the fairy tale has this linked to putting on a bearskin, Kiki wouldn't do it, once she knew what it did, so I'd like the transformation to happen based on the situation. When she gets too annoyed or angry, she turns into a bear. It's doubly annoying because, much in the way the princess in the story can get beautiful dresses for balls, just even the thought of "wait what social function", should such a situation arise, will put Kiki in a sparkly dress.
And she will hate it.
Personal Items: The clothes on her back, and her sword. What else could she possibly need?
First Person Sample:
[ The handwriting is small and neat, easily legible, but there's not a lot of it. The author clearly doesn't have much to say.
Or, perhaps, just knows how to word it as concisely as possible. ]
I'm sure a lot of you find this quaint, but some of us have duties to return to, and none of those duties happen to include living here.
Or turning into a bear.
That being said, if anyone has any information regarding returning, I'd be happy to discuss things with you in further detail. Even your theories would be fine-- a start is a start.
Also, if anyone has seen a person with silvery hair, carrying a sword...
He's not important. Don't bother with him. In fact, it's fine to pretend he's not even there.
Third Person Sample: Have a thread
