❅ Applications

Applications are: CLOSED
Indefinitely.

To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Test drive memes will go up on our meme comm, [community profile] mythmemes, the same day reserves open!

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: Yui Kusanagi ([personal profile] kutanagi)

IC
Name: Lucille
Canon: Ningyou Kyuutei Gakudan (Grand Guignol Orchestra)
Canon Point: Opus 15. Quatuor Mosaiques II
Age: Unknown. Canon states that for him, "time has stopped" so it's possible that he might be a lot older than he looks. Appearance-wise, I'd place him in his early 20s.

Personality: For someone who's as beautiful as Lucille (and really, people often doubletake upon seeing him the first time), his personality takes a 180-degree turn. Sure, he's a directionally-challenged guy who seems really sweet, very nice and a little bit of a tease. But when he feels like it, he turns into a type of guy with an attention span shorter than a five-year-old and a trolling capacity worth of several bullies. His temper is quick to flare (an unfortunate trait pointed out several times by his own ill-tempered companion) and he's never one to hold back when he just wants to be rude and say something to your face. He's bossy and pushy, condescending and demanding, traits that he's had since he was a young boy. He acts like a spoiled brat as well, easy to complain and throw tantrums when things don't go his way. He's crafty and sly, using whatever means necessary to get what he wants. And on top of that, he's notoriously greedy, performing only when he gets paid for it. Heck, he's even willing to be mistaken for a woman (something that he finds really, really gross, mind you) just for the money.

Looking beyond that however, one would notice that the smile and warmth that Lucille exudes never really reach his eyes. As Eles had once put it the first time they had met, Lucille's smile resembles that of a guignol - doll-like and fake. And Eles drives the point on from there. That despite his happy-go-lucky smiles, Lucille is the best actor you can ever find, always wearing a mask of "sincerity" and rarely showing his true emotions. He dislikes being asked questions that requires having to show said emotions and once the topic turns to him, he easily avoids it, dismisses it then moves on. He likes to twist his words, to confuse people, to feign ignorance and stupidity if needed. He remains unfazed, even laughing and cracking jokes in the most dire of situations. And then, there's that darker, colder side of him that's even more terrifying: a Lucille that easily hates, that turns callous and unfeeling, cruel with his actions and words.

And still, all of that is a façade.

Much of this stems from Lucille's own fears and insecurities as well as the events in his past. He's a person who's surrounded and tied down by death and he, in one of the scenes, has even expressed that he's well-loved by the Death God. Seeing his own sister transform into a beautiful and horrific monster, being unable to save her and his own subordinates, forcing his hand to kill his own men as mercy - Lucille bears all of this weight by himself, acknowledging them as his own sin, to the point that he even allows himself to be framed for a crime that he's never made. That's how much he regrets everything. Hence Lucille can smile and lie and push people away so easily for their sake. Because this is the only way to prevent them from getting hurt because of him. Because this is the only way to save them. By becoming a person completely detached from the world, who can easily cut his ties without looking back, he can hide his own feelings.

Which simply proves how deeply Lucille cares about his companions (and for the most part, people). He becomes a self-sacrificial martyr, going to great lengths to protect them and letting himself take the brunt of the backlash. He's willing to place his life and dignity on the line for his companions, especially for Eles whom he sees as the group's salvation. He leaves Eles behind with Spinel to protect her from his sister. He considers Kohaku and Gwindel as comrades despite their differences, willing to disband the Orchestra so they wouldn't be charged the same crime as him. He continues to regret what had happened to Berthie but can't really patch things up with him, given the fact that the latter keeps on trying to kill him. He falsifies information sent to the Queen to save a town from complete annihilation. He uses the Black Oratorio not to destroy but to let the guignols experience their last moments as human beings. Lastly, he still believes in his sister, even after all the shit she's put him through, and still wants to save her through and through.

Despite his amazing ability to lie with a straight face, there are moments when he speaks out his sincerest feelings. Most of these moments are with Eles and with Cordie. The former because of Eles' purity and because, while admittedly they've been using her in some form or another (Berthie once mentioned that Lucille merely sees her as a replacement for his sister), she represents hope that a person like him can still be saved. Which is why Lucille tries his hardest not to lie to her when it comes to certain things and why, even though he understands it completely, it hurts him at times when the young girl would begin to doubt him. The latter, on the other hand, is due to the massive guilt he has for being unable to save her. Because Cordie believes that Lucille betrayed her, he does his best to make her trust him despite knowing that it's most likely never going to happen again.

As a chanteur, Lucille takes so much pride that the songs he sing at least are something people can believe in. If there's anything that Lucille loves the most in the world (other than his sister and Eles), it's music and it's one of the reasons why he continues to sing even in the desolate world he lives in. That, and to keep his existence from losing its meaning, the one thing Lucille fears the most.

History: Here's a link to the wiki or a write up.

Canon Abilities or Powers: Okay, first. Let me explain what Lucille is. And I apologize in advance for the length of this section because sigh, it's just complicated.

Lucille is a philomela. Philomelas are rare individuals who possess angelic voices capable of destroying and affecting both human beings and guignols. Philomelas are also completely different from castratos. Where castratos are castrated using a scientific/medical method to retain or acquire their angelic voices, philomelas are born without a clearly defined sex. They have no gender (biologically speaking) to begin with BUT they do acquire it, influenced by their development and psychological state as they grow up. In Lucille's case, his gender hasn't fully manifested yet during the series but he does identify as a male throughout the entire thing and by the end of the canon, with the neutralization of the Galatea virus, he takes on a male form to the point that his own voice deepens.

But what does it mean, Sele? It means that it doesn't just end there because Kaori Yuki hates people and straightforward things. It's said that Lucille and his sister, Cordie, are also clones of the original Queen. Amongst the many ones that were created as spares, only he and Cordie survived. What does it mean? It means that Lucille's been most likely modified to become a proper vessel for the original Queen. While it doesn't really specify what kind of modifications Lucille might have had, one such thing would be the "eternal youth" that only those in the royal family possess. It's also possible that this enhanced his ability as a philomela, which would explain why his voice is more powerful and beautiful than any philomela in existence. It isn't as powerful as Cordie's whose voice can literally kill people but it does have some effect on the body such as sapping of strength or power and paralysis.

Moving past that and back to his abilities, Lucille (since I'm taking him mid-way in canon) doesn't only look like a female - he also sounds like one. I wouldn't describe his voice as completely high-pitched but feminine in a way that it's flexible when it comes to the range and octaves it can reach. This is why most people mistake him for a girl at first impression.

When Lucille also sings, the wind blows and the birds gather around him. He is a literal Disney princess in his world. His voice, while at times dependent on the song he sings, affects guignols in various ways: from attracting them to destroying them completely to restoring their sanity for a few moments until they die. It's also powerful enough to reach far distances once he's "attuned" himself. His song once managed to spread across an entire walled city, yep. This ability gets even more amplified with the use of his tuning fork and while it's not clearly explained in the manga how, he seems to use the tuning fork (or the sound it produces) as an offensive attack or ability.

Other musical abilities include playing the piano, perfectly singing a song only after listening to it once and a very sharp sense of hearing. Complete genius, this one is.

Musical and crossdressing prowess aside, Lucille's a rather capable fighter though he does leave most of the fighting to his orchestra members instead. He's also pretty intelligent and very quick on the uptake; in fact, they leave much of the intelligence-gathering, infiltration missions and spying to him. Brute strength was never his forte.

Fairy Tale Role: Scheherazade (One Thousand and One Nights)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:
» STORY-TELLING. Basically, like Scheherazade, Lucille will have to tell stories. Every sunset until sunrise, he will be forced to tell stories (any story) to anyone who will listen even if he doesn't want to. There are a few details to this ability that are best explained through bullet points.

• To reflect the events of the story where the Persian King postpones Scheherazade's impending execution to hear the conclusion the next day, no harm can befall on Lucille as long as he's telling or narrating a story. Any attempts to harm or kill him will be met with some kind of resistance, whether it's a voice telling that person not to kill him or their bodies simply moving against their will.
• If he completely stops at any point in time during the evening, the resistance disappears and it's a free-for-all game.
• If Lucille manages to perform his role as a story-teller for the entire evening, the person/people/what-have-you he's told stories to will be compelled to "spare his life" for the day. It's just limited to that person/people however; anyone else can pretty much maim him for the day.
• The story has to be told orally. Telling the story via written means or through the journal doesn't count.

Personal Items: The clothes on his back, the Black Oratorio (recently stolen, yay) and his tuning fork.

First Person Sample:
WANTED!
PEOPLE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HEAR STORIES

Really, I'm getting desperate here to the point that I'm tempted to find the nearest cat or dog or duck and tell it a story. Except I think I've already told at least one story to every cat, dog and duck wandering around. Anyway, I have no idea why I'm still writing in this very dire time when I could just be using this time to find an unwilling victim BUT if you're interested in hearing a story, any story, please look for the fancy mansion covered in gold and silk just outside of town.

Ask for Lucille. Or She Schee Scherawhatshername. The day I can spell that name is the day I accept that identity. But that's what these people call me anyway. Free food and lodging for the evening to the first five people who come over. Usually you'll have to pay but for once, I'm doing it for free.

P.S. Where's the biggest library in this town or country or kingdom and is it all right for me to take all of the books home?

Third Person Sample: HERE ( Just tell me if this one doesn't count so I can give you a different sample instead. )
