❅ Applications

Applications are: CLOSED
Indefinitely.

To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Test drive memes will go up on our meme comm, [community profile] mythmemes, the same day reserves open!

[personal profile] paraselling 2014-01-07 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Impoverished parasol maker, lazy mooch, dedicated flirt, staunch anti-underwear activist and overall pervert, it's a good thing Shiro has a pretty face or else he probably won't get away with the things that he does.

If Shiro were given free reign of his own life, he would collect junk, make elaborate parasols with them, sell them and then use his earnings to play with the women in the brothel. What would he eat? Candy is fine! It's the only thing he can cook anyway. What would he wear? Hey, he'd wear nothing at all if that won't get him arrested. What would happen if he ran out of money? He's cute, he'll find someone who can get him stuff. He would live a peaceful, penniless and slobby life while enjoying the things he love. And he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for that pesky police officer, Kojiro Yamada.

Shiro was reminded that despite everything he's been through as a child, there are still some nice people in this world who have yet to be screwed over by fate. Because his nosiest and clingiest friend is a police officer, Shiro got roped into a lot of cases where he couldn't help but help other people out. It's not for justice or because he believed in the law, he's just uncomfortable with seeing other people suffering, especially if they're pretty women. Or if they're the officer and his friends.

Despite the previous statements, Shiro is a self-proclaimed sadist. Fortunately, this isn't 50 Shades of Ambiguously Gay. Shiro enjoys messing with people. His jokes are often perverted and mean spirited. He does not respect the concept of personal space, and has once bitten off hair from a woman's head to compliment her about it's candy-like color. Combine these traits with brazen confidence and stellar acting ability, and you've got an oddly effective lady-killer. Shiro has survived the world outside the criminal troupe through freeloading from others and he's not about to stop now. This is not to say that Shiro is completely ignorant of other people's feelings. He usually keeps his distance once people start showing serious interest in being his friend or lover.

Shiro does not have a high sense of self-worth. He lived most of his life being considered as trash, and continues to think of himself as expendable. Most of his battle tactics involve him getting captured by the enemy one way or the other. (Sometimes this is because the enemy is a hot woman, but details.) He does not plan for people to save him. He'd be fine if they didn't. He may be the type to save others, and to repay people for the things they did for him out of the kindness of their own hearts, but he'd prefer if no one got hurt at his expense.

He has a complicated love-hate relationship with Anri, his blood-brother. He has a straightforward hatred for underwear. If sensing killing intent were a contest, he'd be the champion.

History:

Shiro's past has not been fully disclosed in the manga. We do know that he used to be the most disfigured child in a criminal organization that deals with drugs called "red veil" that would either give you regenerative powers or mangle your body forever. (You will also be reliant on that drug forever.) He became blood-brothers with Anri, an older, foreign child who's just as bullied as he was. While Anri's body recovered and he grew up to be a beautiful sex slave of the organization, Shiro remained bandaged up and "ugly" for most of his years. Whether or not he was still ugly as he grew up has yet to be revealed, as Anri was a crafty man who liked keeping secrets.

Shiro eventually escaped the organization and became a parasol maker and general lech living in the slums of the city. He does not show signs of withdrawals from the drug and can survive well without it. Oh, and he's pretty. He's very pretty. The series will point this out every time. He is currently running from members of the criminal group while solving mysteries and perving on women on the side.

Unfortunately this series does not have a wikipedia page. It has a TV Tropes page if that counts.

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Aside from drug resistance, Shiro is faster than your average human being and adept with using knives. He's an amazing artist who can craft junk into parasols and accessories. Whether or not the red veil had any effect on him is yet to be seen.

Fairy Tale Role: The Little Mermaid from Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:

As a human
He can't speak, and every step feels like walking on glass. Worst ability ever.

As a mermaid
Well, he's a mermaid. Horray. He gets a tail and can breathe underwater. He regains his ability to talk. He will build an underwater junk hoard ala-Disney's The Little Mermaid.

Soulless
Mermaids have no souls, so any soul-affecting magic will not work on him.

Submitted for the Approval of The Mod Society
Can he regain his mermaid form when his legs are soaked in water? Or true to the nature of the story, would it be better for him to regain this when blood touches a special dagger? If the former is accepted, I plan to have him construct a giant wheeled fish bowl that he can drive around in. If the latter is accepted, hey, at least he's good with a knife. If neither are acceptable, then I guess I'll have him stay human until someone apps in a sea witch.

Personal Items:
three butterfly knives, a sturdy rope to tie them with and the robe he's wearing. Apologies in advance for the lack of underwear

First Person Sample:
[ There's an ink sketch of a woman holding a bee-themed parasol on the network. Well, if people could tell it's a parasol. It's definitely in an ornate, bottom-hollow shape of a bee. And on the woman's head is wire foundation of a bonnet with fruits and flowers coiling around it.

There are arrows pointing to certain parts of the sketch, detailing what their materials might be. For most of the bee, it says thin but sturdy paper. Glass baubles for the eyes. Old, recycled wiring for the bonnet. ]

Would actual flowers work for the bonnet? Cloth? Would glass be too heavy for the fruits?
Should the bee's legs be hairy like a real bee's? Would a stinger be too much? I want to reflect the essence of spring, of the mutual quest of bees and flowers to survive in the world we live in.

[ For your reference, these are what Shiro's parasols and accessories look like. ]

Third Person Sample:

Every step he took hurt and he lost the ability to speak. But he's free from any type of clothing so he's got that going for him.

Still, his situation puts him at a disadvantage. How will he gather information when he can't ask questions? More importantly, how will he hit on women now? Is he supposed to write everything down on this blank book like a beggar? No, that won't do at all! Beggars aren't popular with women!

Shiro decides to seek help the best way he knew how. The pain from his feet helped his stumbling look more natural. Choosing his victim with his usual devil-may-care attitude, he bumps into the first person he sees. He then falls gracefully. He caresses the ground as he slowly sits up, legs demurely spread apart. He looks up to the person with tears forming in his eyes.

"Help me," he mouths. "Please."

Come on, sucker. Take the bait.
