❅ Applications

Applications are: CLOSED
Indefinitely.

To apply for a character, fill out the correct application down below and post it a comment on this entry. Please do not link applications in your journal or delete the comments once your application is processed. Let us know if you would like your application screened.

Apps open on the first of every month and remain open for one week, during which time the mods will begin processing. We're optimistic and hope you'll get the result of your app within a day, but some may take longer depending on the familiarity of the mods with the canon, and the number of apps received in that cycle. If four or more days pass with no response then we suggest you contact a mod.

You can reserve and apply for two characters per app cycle. Currently, players are allowed a maximum of three characters in-game at any given time.

Applications will be judged primarily on the personality section of the character in question, and how the player intends to adapt them into their new role. For this part we're mostly interested in what you plan to do with their powers and new destiny, not how the character will react to it. We'll see that in-game!

Since any OC applications must fall in the range of fairy tales that already exist in the world of Myth Making, these will be held to a higher expectation.

Processing will result in applications being accepted or denied, or revisions requested. Don't worry if you're asked for revisions! It means we're interested in your app, but require more information about something. We'll let you know what that is. If you are asked for revisions, you'll be given one week to provide them.

You are allowed to re-use sections of applications you wrote previously, so don't worry about rewriting your entire personality section. Do NOT plagiarise any part of another player's application for your own, as this will result in an instant ban.

Test drive memes will go up on our meme comm, [community profile] mythmemes, the same day reserves open!

IC
Name: Berthier (full name Berthierite, but most people call him 'Berthie')
Canon: Ningyou Kyuutei Gakudan
Canon Point: chapter 13!
Age: looks to be in his early twenties—but because this is a Kaori Yuki manga and because he’s a ‘philomela’ whose bodies are ‘frozen in time’, it’s unknown just how old he is. He’s probably a lot older than he looks.

Personality:

Bethier (commonly known as ‘Berthie’, full name ‘Berthierite’) is… a piece of work, to say the least. The first thing anyone notices about him his that he is down-right nutsy. The fact that he was originally a candidate to the throne (which is a fairly violent occupation in its own right) but disqualified due to his violent tendencies really says a lot about his character. Whenever he is appears in the manga, he is generally depicted swinging his sword around, being violent to other characters, often with at least a corpse or two in the frame. This is often anyone’s first impression of him, and it’s generally their last.

On the offset, he is a cruel, sadistic character who is delighted by the suffering of others. He enjoys taunting, provoking and crushing others, shown by his cruel ministrations towards Carnelian and his constant iteration that the other man is useless. He seems highly perceptive towards the weaknesses of others, and shows no abandon in the way he uses that information for his own purposes. He is also not above lying to others, even if it’s just for his own amusement rather than any real sense of falsehood. Take the example of his lie to le senat—despite the fact that le senat were the ones who revived him after his death, he shows no deference towards them and treats them as flippantly as he treats everyone else around him. He holds no loyalty to le senat, even though circumstances dictate that any other man would’ve. Common sense and societal expectations mean nothing to Berthier.

On the subject of loyalty, he is a bit of an oddball. In a way, Lucille is the only one who holds any semblance of loyalty from him, and this is interesting, because his loyalty towards Lucille first manifested as a willingness to do anything he said, and later, after his death, as a deep desire to keep anyone else from killing Lucille before he can. This behaviour and loyalty, which is almost a dependence of a sort, stems from his shared past with Lucille. While Lucille didn’t necessarily know it, Berthier was also a Philomela (a genderless being) developed from the original queen’s cells. Because of this, and because of Berthier’s upbringing, which was probably every bit as screwed up and lonely as the childhoods of everyone else in this series, he took to Lucille, whom he thought was the only person who could understand him. Who told him that it was alright to exist. You can see an example of his dependency towards Lucille’s character there. And once Lucille began seeing him as a monster, just like how everyone else saw him, there was a sense that the only person who thought that he had a right to exist now could not accept him. It’s because of this that he kills himself out of spite. His past serves to illustrate his unstable mindset, his dependence towards Lucille that’s almost crippling: he needs a reason to exist. A reason to live. In the beginning, the reason to live was Lucille’s acceptance. Now, his reason to live is his vengeance towards that same Lucille who ‘rejected’ him.

No personality profile of Berthier is complete without a paragraph on his love for Lucille. Indeed, Berthier is very verbal and physical about his love for Lucille. Violently verbal and physical. Most of his characterization and motivations revolve around this love for Lucille. Basically, he is like that one super clingy ex-boyfriend that nobody wishes they had. That being said, anyone who gets in between him and Lucille is due for a confrontation. He seeks to torment those who are close to Lucille, shown by his needlessly violent confrontation with Gwindel and Kohaku that ended with one of the latter losing an arm, and by the way he keeps Carnelian, who hates Lucille, on a tight leash and a life of humiliation and servitude. He even stabs Spinel, who is important to Lucille, and kidnaps Eles (Celes), who’s often said to be Lucille’s last hope. He professes that he enjoys seeing Lucille squirm, which puts his love for the man in a very twisted light. However, he is not completely irredeemable—despite his constant tormenting of Lucille and of Lucille’s friends, he never outright fully kills any of them (Spinel notwithstanding, seeing as he did stab her in the chest, but she did end up healing all-right on her own). He also protects Lucille fiercely, noting that he will not let Lucille die before he has a chance to kill him himself. Finally, while he has yet to reach that point in canon, at the end of the manga, he comes to accept Lucille’s words and allows himself to be pseudo-killed by Lucille’s hands (again). While he is jealous and possessive, he is also strangely selfless towards Lucille, which is both a positive and negative trait, when you think about it.

Despite everything he does, however, he is not insensitive to the feelings of others. The fact that he can pick out people’s weaknesses easily seem to indicate that he is very perceptive, even on an emotional level. However, understanding and empathizing with other people’s pain might prove to be too much for him. You can say that for him, there are only two people in the world—himself and Lucille, and everyone else is just background noise. That’s the extent of his obsession.

Other things: he is exuberant and has very little sense of personal space, at least when it comes to Lucille. He is an excellent fighter, highly skilled and seems to move solely on intuition rather than any real technique. He has a Cheshire Cat motif going on in the manga, going as far as to wear a cat-mask and generally exhibiting cat-like features in chibi form for comedy’s sake. He has a keen sense of smell, capable of distinguishing between people by smell alone. He also seems highly misogynistic, as he repeatedly refers to the smell of women as a ‘stench’, and dislikes lingering where many women gather, such as a convent. His piano playing is often described as a haunting, painful sound, and in a series where music reflects a person’s inner state, this says a lot about him.

History:

Wiki!

As Berthier is not a main character in Ningyou Kyuutei Gakudan, his history wasn’t entirely embellished. What we do know is that he was one of the ‘queen candidates’ in the series – a Philomela – and that he met Lucille, wherein Lucille became the sole being in the world who acknowledged his right to live. The two traveled around as a part of the secret royal orchestra, in order to investigate the guignols and destroy them. Lucille sang, while Berthier played the piano, and acted as an all-round bodyguard. During this time, the once-genderless Berthier took on masculine traits. However, Berthier’s destructive nature eventually caused Lucille to fear him, which, essentially, breaks what little human heart Berthier had left and caused him to kill himself out of spite.
Timeskip, and le senat revives Berthier. He begins stalking Lucille across the continent for most of the story, heckling his friends, cutting people’s arms off, and generally being a recurring villain.

Canon Abilities or Powers:

Berthier’s main ability is swinging around a large, tuning-fork-like sword and having the uncanny ability to do a lot of bodily harm to basically everyone he meets. He is extremely skilled in combat, and what he makes up for in the lack of magic he does with brute strength, speed and ruthlessness alone. He is more or less unmatched in his canon, and he is very axe-happy. It’s unknown if his super strength and speed is a result of him being a Philomela or not, but it is know that prior to his (first) death, he already exhibited his killing abilities.
Also, as a Philomela, it’s assumed that he can also sing. He never exhibits this trait in canon, but it’s assumed that he also possesses an angelic voice capable of mildly affecting others. For the purposes of rp, however, and since he never actually sings in canon, I’m going to assume that cutting off his head and stitching it back on again had some affect on his vocal capabilities, and he no longer can sing like a true Philomela. Philomela are also born genderless, but it’s confirmed in canon that Berthier took on masculine traits for Lucille’s (unwilling) sake, so that Lucille can become his ‘queen’.

His other ability, which happily has nothing to do with killing, is his ability to play the piano. His piano-playing talent is rare, and he is a very proficient musician.

Other abilities include: being able to detect the gender of people by smell alone (somehow) and always knowing where Lucille is (somehow).

Fairy Tale Role:The Persian King from One Thousand and One Nights

Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:

» EXECUTION. The emperor from One Thousand and One Nights is known for having the power to ruthlessly execute people as he sees fit. Berthier, who already possesses natural killing capabilities, will inherit this power. Essentially, once a day, he is capable of choosing one individual for a ‘sure kill’. Essentially, he can pick out a victim to execute, and no matter what happens that individual will die by the end of the day by his blade.

Yes, this is extremely god-modey. But there is a catch—
❧ Berthier is unable to kill anyone if they are telling a story. To reflect One Thousand and One Nights, in which the Persian King refrains from killing Scheherazade because he is curious about the ending to the stories that she tells him nightly, so long as his victim is telling a story, Berthier cannot harm them. It doesn’t matter how long the story is – so long as the story has a beginning, middle, an end, characters and a conflict, it counts as a story.
❧ If the individual that he is attacking successfully completes their story, they are then safe from Berthier for the rest of the day. Essentially, by successfully telling a story to Berthier, Berthier cannot kill them. He can try again the next day, but if he’s told another story the next day, he is once again unable to kill his victim.
❧ However, if the individual fails to complete their story, or completely stops in the middle of their story-telling, Berthier can still kill them.
❧ To copy what Sele has written above—the story must be told orally. Written stories do not count, and cannot prevent Berthier from harming the character.
❧ Only the character who is being targeted can tell the story—essentially, that character’s friend cannot tell a story to Berthier in order to spare that character. The story must come from that character themselves.
❧ If Berthier has already heard that story from that character, he is also still able to kill them. The story needs to be one that Berthier has never heard from that character before.

As the Persian King, Berthier will also gain an inexplicable hatred of women. But he already had a hatred of women prior to this, so maybe this isn’t such a huge change after all…

Personal Items:

His tuning fork sword, the clothes on his back and his cat mask!

First Person Sample:

[ a maniacal scrawl, strangely beautiful. Music staff lines criss-crossing the page, complex patterns of notes and rests strewn across the staff seemingly at random. However, anyone who has been trained musically will immediately realize the beauty of this tune, the complexity of it, the haunting chords and the thundering double-stops. Again and again, the lines appear on the page, the notes appearing one after another as though in a frenzy.

And then, when the page has all but been filled, words appear at the bottom. ]

For my queen, Lucille. The most beauteous of tunes for the most beauteous of people. The tragic chords to the tragedy of life. Wouldn’t you say it’s fitting? This song is for you, Lucille, and no other. Aren't you glad?

Should you not rejoice!

[ and then, viciously, large, skewed lines begin appearing on the page, as though the person who had composed that song has begun scratching it out out of maniac glee. Horrible lines scratch themselves across the page until there all you can see is bleeding ink. ]

Third Person Sample: from a past game…!

The thing about Berthier is that waking up in an unfamiliar world is nothing new. Familiar places mean nothing to him. Back when he was alive, scenery was but backdrop to the events in his life. Similar, after he had been resurrected, he had no such attachments to the locations around him. They eventually became a blur of blood and destruction, bitter, angry places that compose of nothing he particularly cares about. This is because the only thing that matters in his life is people. One person in particular. Lucille. If Lucille is there, then he needs nothing else.

This is why, when he awakens in a new and unfamiliar location, with the sky above him and the gentle sounds of pedestrians nearby, he only, laughingly, thinks that at least this time his head is still attached to his head. He gets up without another thought, checking for his mask, his sword. And Lucille—well, of course Lucille isn’t here. He’s never here when he needs him. This is why the only logical thing to do next is to look for the only thing that matters.

The air is fresh, the people are loud, pressing, annoying. He picks the highest vantage point he can see—the top of a tower, and clambers to the top.

There is no hesitation to his actions—it’s unthinkable, after all, that he would be in a place without Lucille. He only needs him, after all. So there’s nothing left to do but to begin searching.

After all, isn’t that what he has done all his life?

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: Nope.

IC
Name: Starscream
Canon: Transformers Prime
Canon Point: Post-Deadlock, the season three finale, but before the major events of Predacons Rising.
Age: Unspecified, but canonically stated to be over "eons."

Personality:
The first impression we get of Starscream is when we witness him growling over the loss of energon, before murdering a prisoner for asking where his "master" was. This establishes several important facts about Starscream. First, that he is not a nice person, second, that power and prestige are important to him, and third, that he's prone to making temperamental and emotional-based decisions.

Let's start with that first point. Starscream is one of the major antagonists of the series, and his behavior usually follows through on that. Not only does Starscream kill a helpless prisoner, but he is prone to casual cruelty towards his own underlings, such as assaulting them, being verbally hostile, and at one point even killing one of his allies. He shows an obvious sadistic streak, smirking with pleasure when he tortures Wheeljack, and terrorizing the Autobots' human companions whenever they're in his claws.

Much of this ties into the second point, that power and prestige are important to him. Almost everything Starscream does is motivated by the desire for admiration and respect, and he tries to gain it either through throwing his weight around or through obvious sycophancy. For example, when Starscream is placed in charge of the Decepticons he always loses his temper whenever someone (a human, an Autobot, an Eradicon...) questions it. Then as time goes by and his position is worn down, we see him making foolish decisions in an attempt to please others, such as removing his armor when his underlings suggest he's a coward for using it. And regardless of his station, Starscream boasts. A lot. He brags to Airachnid about his history as an energon seeker, to MECH about his intellect and skills, and he'll tell anyone who's unwilling to listen about the time he killed Cliffjumper. A shame that absolutely nobody is interested.

Indeed, despite technically having a high position in the Decepticon chain of command, Starscream does not get much respect. Most of this can be chalked up to his personality, which, as others have gently put it, is volatile. He has difficulty controlling his emotions, frequently losing his temper, as we've mentioned, and getting visibly frantic whenever he's in a tight spot. Because he's so emotional and frankly, melodramatic, he has trouble making good decisions. Starscream is easily swayed by his fears and anxieties into retreating or, when he's feeling overconfident and wants to prove himself, charging headfirst into trouble without taking time to properly assess the situation.

This may lead one to believe that Starscream's just an idiot, but it would be more accurate to say he's simply an intelligent mech prone to poor decisions. He has, after all, pulled off some impressive things, such as working with a hodgepodge of resources in order to capture all four Omega Keys, or coming up with a scheme to make the Autobots destroy the Predacon clones for the Decepticons. And while Starscream might be melodramatic and prideful, he does have a pragmatic streak. He does not put himself above begging if it means saving his life, and when he takes command of the Decepticons he is capable of focusing on practical concerns, such as proper resource gathering.

Furthermore, over the course of the series Starscream does show concern for matters outside of himself. Although he spends the early parts of the show trying to kill Megatron off, after the events of season two Starscream re-pledges his loyalty and shows every sign of being genuine from then on. He also seems to care a little for the Decepticon medic, Knock Out, enough to tell him it was an honor serving together when they seemed close to death. (Though the friendship ends badly.) And when the Autobot Arcee spares his life, Starscream goes out of his way to repay her by saving her life. Although he may be self-centered, gratitude and loyalty are not entirely beyond Starscream.

More subtly, Starscream also seems to desire the revival of Cybertron as much as any Autobot. He appears horrified and enraged when the Omega Lock, seemingly the only way to repair Cybertron, is destroyed, and at one point makes a comment about how Cybertron was "little more than a graveyard now" with audible disgust in his voice. Power, it seems, is not the only thing that Starscream is interested in.

None of these more positive examples of his behavior come even close to invalidating his usual awfulness, but they do suggest that given the right character development, Starscream could be more than a short-sighted back-stabber. He has a very contradictory personality, capable of treachery and loyalty, cunning and foolishness, melodrama and pragmatism. It would take a very wise person to be able to handle him. And patience. Lots and lots of patience.

History:
Here. Since the Transformers Aligned continuity is not as... consistent as one would desire, we're only taking the section under Prime Cartoon as canon.

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Canonically, Starscream is a giant alien robot who lives off of a substance called energon. He is thus much stronger and faster than the average human and could kill one merely by not watching where he steps. He also has a higher resistance to extreme conditions, such as those in the Antarctic, although he doesn't find extreme temperatures comfortable and he cannot survive under strenuous circumstances indefinitely. He also does not need to breathe. (Although this doesn't seem to stop him from doing things like wheezing and gasping when he's emoting.)

A biomechanical organ known as a transformation cog, or t-cog, allows Starscream to transform into a jet plane. The jet plane form is known as his altmode, and he can change his altmode by scanning vehicles compatible with his build. (So for instance, he might be able to scan another kind of jet plane, but not a car or motorcycle.) Although he has wings in his robot mode, he can only fly in his altmode. Starscream is very proud of his flying skills and is considerably more agile in the skies than he is on the ground.

His t-cog is also connected to his weapons system, allowing Starscream to transform his arms into laser blasters. Shots from his laser blasters can do a decent amount of damage, although he has a preference for using his missiles or his claws. His missiles are mounted on his forearms when he is in robot mode, and he does not need his t-cog to use them, although once fired they have to be replaced. He can also use his missiles when in his altmode. And finally, his claws are basically his hands- Starscream's fingers are long and sharp, and tough enough to slice through solid metal, and he will literally rip open his opponents with them. As with his missiles, his claws do not need a t-cog to be usable.

On a more intellectual note, Starscream is fairly intelligent and has advanced knowledge of science, engineering, and Cybertronian biology. Essentially, he's going to have much more skill with electronics than the majority of the human population. A downside is that he's used to working with Cybertronian tech, and he'll probably have difficulty working with much more limited technological resources.

Having spent what seems to be most of his life working as a soldier and the first lieutenant of a military faction, Starscream does have a good grasp on combat and military tactics. Although not an especially tough melee opponent he can be very cunning, prefers to fight dirty, and can do a surprising amount of damage from a distance. His greatest problem is probably his inability to keep his emotions in check, which can easily cloud his judgement.

Fairy Tale Role: Jack of the Lantern. (Stingy Jack)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: As Jack of the Lantern, he is doomed to roam the world until the end of eternity, with only the light of his lantern to guide him. Being technically already dead, he can't die again, whether from hunger, injuries, or sickness, although those will affect him. So for example, if he fails to fulfill his energon needs on a regular basis, he will feel as though he is starving to death and suffer all the ill-effects of starving to death, except for the part where he actually dies.

More noticeably, Jack of the Lantern possesses an ember from the fires of hell. This ember cannot burn out and produces enough light to see by, although touching it with your bare hands will burn you. It marks him as Jack of the Lantern, and even if he makes an effort to he will be unable to lose it. Since it burns him at the touch, he'll be storing it in a carved-out turnip lantern for the time being.

Because he is doomed to roam, Jack of the Lantern cannot settle down in the same place for two nights in a row. After he stays overnight in a single location, Jack of the Lantern will feel compelled to move onto somewhere different. If he tries to resist the compulsion to wander, his ember will burn him until he starts to wander once again.

Finally, his soul (or "spark" as he'll prefer to call it) cannot be traded, taken, stolen, or otherwise possessed, by the Devil or any of his associates. Essentially, even if he attempts to sell his soul to the forces of Hell, they will not accept it as legal tender.

Personal Items: Nothing- since he's being shrunk down to fit into the world, he won't even be taking the missiles he usually carries on his forearms.

First Person Sample:

[The writing is a little shaky, as if the writer isn't entirely sure of what they're doing, but legible.]

If my observations are correct, this "Jack of the Lantern" book is in truth a bizarre form of communications device. And an unimpressive one at that. I will give it this however: it is obviously more advanced technology than what is available in the rest of this [Pause.] place.

What remains to be seen is whether or not this book is actually useful. If anyone out there is reading this, I am requesting information. Anything you can tell me about where we are, why we are here, and who exactly is responsible for all of this, would be appreciated. Provided of course that it's not more of the same nonsense the fleshlings in Märchenstraße were babbling on about.

If you can supply me with any information of value you can, of course, expect the favor to be returned eventually.

- Cmdr. Starscream

[The signature has a bit more flourish to it than is probably strictly necessary.]

Third Person Sample:

Starscream had not been having a very good day.

One could even deem it dreadful. Call him fussy, but Starscream didn't like waking up to find himself minus his t-cog and several feet in height, surrounded by overly cheerful fleshlings on an entirely different planet from the one he'd thought he'd been on. It was upsetting and disconcerting, and when Starscream was upset and disconcerted he tended to do things like shriek and attempt to claw people's faces off. This had at least gotten rid of the overly cheerful fleshlings, although they had been kind enough to toss a book and a giant turnip at him. The book had hit one of his wings, while the turnip had smacked into his chest.

After pausing to hyperventilate and calm himself down, he'd picked up the objects he'd been assaulted with. The turnip had been hollowed out and two eyes and a crooked grin had been carved out of the side. Through the gaps, a bright orange light shone through. It reminded Starscream of those things he'd seen pictures of on the human internet. What were they called? Pumpkins? Jack lanterns? Either way it seemed to be of no use, so he placed it back on the ground and turned his attentions to the book.

However, the book proved to be equally unhelpful. It was of a medium thickness, bound with a plain green cover and back. Written in gold lettering on the spine were the words Jack of the Lantern. This had seemed promising enough- perhaps it had a connection to the turnip they'd tossed at him- but all of the pages inside were blank.

With a frustrated grumble, Starscream stuffed the book under his arm and turned in a circle. Seeing a human city from this perspective somehow made them more alien; everything was more or less proportionate for someone his size, or at least a bit shorter, but the materials and styles of the buildings were nothing Cybertronian in origin. All he could think, beneath the rising panic, was... why? Why was he here? And how in the name of Primus had this happened?

Perhaps chasing away those humans hadn't been the best plan after all...

[And some more examples here.]

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: n/a

IC
Name: Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden
Canon: The Dresden Files
Canon Point: The end of Small Favor, the 10th book in the series.
Age: About 35

Personality: Harry has been described as a "good man" to his face by at least two persons who objectively are good judges of character, and was named the Samwise Gamgee of the group when his friends casted themselves as characters of the Lord of the Rings. (Harry protested; he wanted to be Gandalf, but the role had been unanimously given to his fairy godmother.) He disagrees with the "good" part, too, since he's taken several actions that lean toward the morally gray part of the scale, and he's worked with less-than-upstanding people. Yet, those were the best solutions he could find at the times when everything was desperate.

But he is a good man. He's always trying to do what is right—or what he thinks is right, this is an important distinction—, sometimes in spite of what could be constructed as his best interests or his own well-being. For example, life would be easier for him if he took the offer made by Johnny Marcone, Chicago's crime boss—the crime boss—, to work for him. Then, Harry would have an steady income, a good insurance, and many other benefits. But Harry won't do it; Marcone may have proved to be a reliable ally, and he may have some honor in him, but he's still a gangster. Harry doesn't want a part in the criminal world because that wouldn't be right. (Besides, his best friend is a cop; she'd disown him forever.)

As for the Sam Gamgee part, Harry is that loyal. To a fault and back. If he's got your back, you're set up for good. Just don't go over to the dark side, betray him or betray anyone he loves. Then he'll be crushed and yet he'll try to stop you. This happened with Justin DuMorne, a wizard who adopted Harry when he was a child. He taught him the basics of magic... and then sent an evil spirit to murder him when Harry refused to go with Justin's evil plan to take over the White Council of Wizards. Harry ended up killing Justin in self defense. As a teen.

Harry's also extremely stubborn. Once he decides on something, he'll do whatever it takes to go all the way through with it. Specially if the stakes are high, and even more if he's emotionally invested in those stakes. Like the time in Changes when he committed genocide against the full Red Court of vampires because they kidnapped his daughter to use her to end everyone in Harry's bloodline. The spell was designed to be activated by the ritual murder of the youngest in the targeted bloodline, and Harry turned everything on its head when he sacrificed the girl's mother, who had been recently converted into a vampire. We're talking about the love of his life here. Those are the lengths he'll go to save a loved one.

Harry is a geek. He admits so himself. He makes pop culture references as often as he can, to the point it's possible to make an argument of Looney Toons being a literary theme in Summer Knight (the fourth book). [If the argument is successful or not, that's another matter.] He gets honestly upset when he plays Dungeons & Dragons because the magic "doesn't work like that". His outbursts had ruined more than one session, but he's still allowed to come back. As a side note, his character is a barbarian.

Harry loves comic books, and Spiderman is his personal hero. Harry follows what he calls The Tao of Peter Parker, which means he modeled his believes and moral code from that character. And his own irreverence too.

When he was a child, Harry escaped during the night from Justin's house to watch television through the window of an electronics store. He mentions liking Knight Rider, a show where the main character was also irreverent, but had the heart in the right place.

Growing up as an orphan wasn't easy for Harry. Being betrayed and nearly killed by the man he considered a father figure, and having in turn to kill him in self defense instead didn't help matters. Harry longs for a family, a big family, and for the longest time his self-esteem issues made him believe he deserved one. In the course of the books, he made one, though, composed by close friends. He eventually found his long-lost half brother, and later on his long-lost daugher—he didn't know she existed until she was eight years old. As previously mentioned, he'd do anything for any of them.

One of Harry's trademarks is his big mouth. He's one of those characters that the more nervous, anxious or stressed he gets, the more he looses the connection between his brain and his mouth. And he's in life-or-death situations often enough he just keeps making more and more enemies just by talking. He has no problems speaking his mind and being irreverent about it, whether you're a normal human, a fairy, a god, or a mafia boss. Yet, he's paid for that, and learned that sometimes it's better to play the diplomacy game. Fairies, for example, love word play. They can't lie, but they can twist words and phrases until they've pretty much done it. That's a skill Harry's working on.

While he can be amiable, a lovable, goofy dork, and sometimes even charismatic, Harry can also be ruthless. If the situation has gone to a place where he has to maim or even kill to survive or to protect someone, he'd do it. He's not unnecesarily cruel except when he was under the influence of the shadow of a fallen angel. The situation lasted a couple of books, until he eventually talked her into turning to the side of good and she gave her life for him. The shadow exclusively, not the fallen angel proper.

There's also a darker side of Harry, a double of sorts that claims to be his subconscious. He's only "seen" by Harry himself when he's asleep or unconscious. This darker side, that Harry calls his Alter, is more concerned about his own well-being, and tries to convince Harry to take the more selfish choices. Harry pretty much hates him. Or more like the part of himself that's Alter!Harry.

Finally, Harry is not as self-aware as he claims he is. It took him many years to realize that people firmly planted in the "good guys" camp were scared of him. And with excellent reasons, too. That wake up call made him realize he is scary. However, that happens in the next book after his canon pull point. Still, I thought important to mention it.

History: Here

Canon Abilities or Powers: In this universe, humans with magic abilities have the potential to control the energies that surround them. For example, in Small Favor, a group of fallen angels are able to create a dome that cut a certain area from the rest of the world, thus limiting the amount of magic one could use inside. Their target (not Harry, by the way) did the equivalent of holding her breath with the magic she could retain and had a fair chance against them. Then again, The Archive is one of the most powerful characters in the series.

Magical energies interfere with electronic devices in this universe. Anything built after WWII is going to suffer if a wizard is around. The stronger the wizard, the worst the effect. Harry tries his best to keep his aura tucked under control, but it depends on his mental state. If he's calm, it's easier. If not, well... In any case, even when he's not trying he can blow up a computer just by being in the room. Yet, he designed Hexus, a spell meant to break electronics up on purpose. Because sometimes you need that too.

A wizard, a term used regardless of gender, is someone who has been trained to control that potential. Not everyone has enough potential to be worth training in the eyes of the White Council of Wizards (Harry is against this and considers it dangerous; events later on prove he's in the right) but most people can learn basic spells if they work hard enough.

Harry claims he ranks in the top 40 most powerful wizards in the world in terms of raw power. However, he recognizes "weaker" but more focused magical users could not only be a match for him, but they could also beat him up, since he's pretty much a brute whose approach to problems is to smash things out of his way. Less by design and more because it's the only choice his enemies leave him at the end of the day, though.

Since spells are, to put it in some way, a structured way to control the surrounding energies, to bend them to one's will, to use a word of a sentence in the wizard's native tongue, something that could be use in everyday conversation, could be dangerous. That could trigger the magic at a subconscious level. Thus, some wizards use Coptic, others Sanscrit, and etcetera. Harry uses, among other things, Spanish and Pig Latin. Mostly Pig Latin. (Latin is the common language among the White Council, and Harry learned from a correspondence course. His proficiency ranges from "barely acceptable" to "cringe-worthy".)

Here's a list of the spells he uses in the curse of the series. Harry came out with most of them himself. The ones he uses the most are Fuego (fire)—a personal favorite of him—, Ventus (wind), and Forzare (a blast of energy).

Another important factor regarding the control of magic, are emotions. The stronger the emotion, the stronger of magic. For example, in order to kill someone with magic, the one casting the spell really has to hate his target. It has to be real, undiluted hate. Not but or ifs. Harry has learned to harness his emotions of fear and anger to help him fuel his spells during combat, which often turns over the tables at the most desperate point of a fight.

One innate power all wizards in this universe share is Soulgazing. After a few seconds of eye contact, the wizard and the other person they're looking at begin to see each other's soul. It can be a very dramatic experience, scary and overwhelming, depending on who the other person is. There is no way to lie, nor to stop it once it began. It can only happen once in a life-time between the same two people, too. Since the books are a first-person account by Harry, we don't actually see how his soul is. It can't be that bad, though. People still talk and cooperate with him after a Soulgaze. Harry is so used to this he doesn't look at people in the eye other than a quick glance, with makes him seem, in words of another character, somewhat autistic.

Names also have power in this universe. If anyone, human, fairy or any other, say their own full names to someone else, they're basically giving the other control over themselves. That's why this character goes only by Harry Dresden, and will never say his full name to anyone. The only exception would be in a dire situation and he's trying to bargain a way out. But it has to be very, very bad.

As far as non-magic abilities go, Harry has strong leadership skills. He organized a group of people with lesser magical powers into an organization called the Paranet, and helped them be more prepared against supernatural predators. Strength in numbers and all that. He also has his own personal army of pixies, who are extremely loyal to him, in part because he pays them regularly with pizza, but mostly because he freed several of them from the White Court of Vampires. They call him the (pi)'Zza Lord, and they work mostly on surveillance—and once they killed a rogue fairy queen.

He's also a good teacher. He has no problems going in lengths and detail about magical theory—he knows a lot of it, and enjoys explaining how everything works at the best of his abilities. He also might enjoy a little to much seeing his student(s) despair because of the endless repetitions needed to develop both discipline and power.

Being a private eye, who even works sometimes as a consultant with the Chicago Police Department regarding supernatural crimes (there's an special division who hires him from time to time; most of the police don't believe on what he can do), he has his fair share of deductive skills. He's methodical and takes in a lot of detail from his surroundings, specially when he's working on a case. Things slip by him on occasion, of course, specially when he's tired, stressed, hurt, or everything at once.

At some point, he realized how important stamina was, so he began a regular exercise schedule with a focus on running. His best friend, Karrin Murphy, taught him aikido, of which, among other martial arts, she is a master. He also carries a gun, which he knows how to use by now, because he learned in the bad way those things are actually useful (who's going to expect a wizard to shoot them?).

Finally, he learned to play the guitar as an rehabilitation exercise after he burned his left hand. He's not that good, though.

Fairy Tale Role: Merlin (Arthurian Myth)
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: I'd like to with Merlin as a druid, which would mean Harry would be in tune with nature. He'd communicate with animals and spirits (dryads, nymphs, that sort of things) and he'd retain some control over the elements (fire, earth, water, wind).
He'd know instinctively how to brew potions with different effects, like healing or alter states or even poisons, using only plants or animal parts.
This is tricky, but druids also have prophetic powers. If he can get this, I agree to have it limited by what the mods and the other muns want their character to know, if they're ever consulted. (Also, if this is approved, is it all right to ask he works this by gutting dolls or stuffed animals? That's an idea shamelessly stolen borrowed from The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan.)

I have no idea what is going on, but there's no way this is not the Nevernever. However, the door to the mortal world I'm trying to make doesn't open. Come on, I used to be able to do this.

On the other hand, maybe it's for the best. For all I know, I could end up on the Himalayas or the bottom of the ocean. Or worse, in Morgan's bedroom. Yuck. In any case, that's why I came back to the book.

What I write here can be read by others, right? Like one of those chat-thingies today's cool kids have. Yay! I'm a cool kid!

Anyway. Lea, are you there? Can you read this? Lea?

Leanansidhe. Leanansidhe. Leanansidhe.

Godmother!!!

[There's a pause in the writing before it resumes again.]

Note to self: summonings don't work here.

So, is there anyone out there who can tell me what is going on?

Thank you.

Harry Dresden.

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: No

IC
Name: Battler Ushiromiya
Canon: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Canon Point: EP4
Age: 18

Personality:
Whatever Battler is thinking is often written right on his face. He has a very open personality, and hardly ever holds in what he's really thinking. First and foremost, he has a very deep love for anyone close to him, namely his family. He will do anything for his family, and he enjoys being around his cousins and laughing with them the most. However, he feels a bit bitter towards his father at times, hence why he had left the family for six years. He was so furious at his father for going off and remarrying so quickly that he went to live with his grandparents on his mother's side. When he returned back to the Ushiromiya side, he put those kinds of feelings to the side. He's a man who's not afraid to cry in front of not only his family but those that are close to him. He’s a very emotional person, and there are plenty of times when his emotions get the better of him. Generally when he feels like he’s been backed into a corner during the course of the games, he’ll just put his head in his hands and begin to wail and shout about it.

Battler has this obsession with trying to be a gentleman, or even someone like a knight. In more than one occasion, he will walk up to women and continuously praise them, even going so far as to say very embarrassing lines to them. Such actions are why he is popular with the women at his school. Examples of such chivalry would be, telling the girls he will arrive on a white horse and take them away, or that he will save such a damsel in distress as them. If anyone else were to listen in on his compliments, he would then immediately turn red, and wish he hadn't even said it in the first place. All in all, he is a very kind man, and he truly believes in treating women with utmost respect, at least deep down he does.

On the surface however, he is an extreme pervert. Even though he wouldn't do anything over the top to a woman, he still likes to talk about them in perverted ways, or even try to do something perverted. He openly talks about women's chests, or topics centered around their body. Even though he talks about them like this, even if he gets close enough to grab at their chests, he still wants them to hit him. He believes that women need to some themselves for when they’re really in love with someone. When he was moving closer to touch Shannon’s chest and she didn’t hit him, he was becoming flustered since he actually thought he might be able to do it. He was smacked by Jessica in the end to stop such antics, and he thanked her for it, since that was a close call and he wasn’t going to be able to stop himself. Women are his one true weakness, and it would even go so far that sometimes he is blinded by the truth because a woman is in his way.

All that about him being a pervert though, it melts away as soon as his anger takes over. He is a very temperamental person, and it doesn't take much to sway his mood from being overly happy, to suddenly furious. His beliefs are very strong and if anyone opposes that, he's not afraid to stand up and say what he believes in. Fighting is another thing that comes naturally to him, he's a born fighter, he loves to argue with someone. Since he likes to read books centered around mysteries, no matter how much he tries to deny it, he likes to think up theories in different and exciting ways. One of his strong beliefs is that magic is not real, and everything can be solved by human means. He hates losing, so fighting until the bitter end is something he is definitely prepared to do.

Although Battler prefers to act like an idiot most of the time, he’s actually able to slow down and think about things from different perspectives. One of his favorite sayings is to ‘flip the chessboard over.’ Meaning to look at something from another angle, and see if it’s possible to come up with a different reasoning. He first heard such a thing from Kyrie, who then went on to explain its meaning in full. Battler does have the ability to think about someone else’s point of view and see just what they’re talking about, but due to his stubborn attitude, often times that sort of reasoning slips his mind. If he somehow is able to calm himself down, he soon becomes more intelligent than when he gets riled up and screams about topics. All in all, he’s smart when he wants to be- but hardly comes through and shows that side of him.

During the course of the games, Battler had been fighting with Beato the entire time over his family and just how each of them were murdered, by human ways of course. However, he tends to have a habit of forgiving or accepting someone easily, even if they had wronged him in the past. This could be seen as a good thing, someone so accepting that they’ll even put aside all of their flaws and see the good person underneath everything. Most of the time his logic doesn’t make sense in this department however, and it ends up costing him big. In the third game Battler had started to trust Beato more since she had started to act like she really just wanted to be a good witch for him and he believed her. Turns out she was faking, and such a big trick hurt him dearly- he had truly trusted that she had seen the error of her ways and would stop such tricks. He was wrong, and he soon sulked about it for a while before going back to his regular headstrong attitude.

After Battler had witnessed Beato being crushed by his own powers at the very end of the fourth game, he soon realized that there must be more to this game than what he had initially thought. After musing over such thoughts to himself, he soon understood what Beato had really been trying to tell him and forgave her for everything she had put him through. Just like that, Battler is able to forgive a person for doing such heinous things to him, merely because he sees from their side that they had a motive for such a thing. He’s an all too forgiving character- and on top of that too trusting. With these aspects combined, he wonders why people continue to betray him time and time again- but it’s because he’s too trusting of a person to see when someone is being cruel to him.

Even though he’s an intelligent young man, Battler often has tunnel vision, and only focuses on what’s in front of him at the time. Even if there’s something else bothering him, he’s easily able to put such a thing to the side and just focus on what he’s doing at the moment. When Ange had died before him during the fourth game, he was devastated over something as dramatic and traumatizing as that. As soon as he realized what he had to do, he pointed at the witch before him and declared war on her. After their battle however, it was as though Battler had completely forgotten about his sister which had sacrificed herself for him mere moments ago. He was just focused on the injured witch in front of him, and vowed he would solve her mystery for her- and find out who she really was. He had been so passionate about his sister dying, but as soon as something else came along- he soon pushed something like that to the back of his mind. He had not forgotten about it, he just focused on something other than dwelling on that twisted sacrifice.

As stated before, even though Battler acts like a shameless pervert, he still prefers to say that everyone needs to find love in their life. He often pities people who have not experienced love, and hopes they could find something as wonderful as it. He’s a little pushy with the topic, since he’s so passionate about it, but he’ll back off if he realizes the person can’t exactly understand the concept right away. After he had fallen in love with Beato following the fifth game, he had looked down upon those who didn’t share the same kind of intense love that he had. When one of the witches- Erika, asked him to hurry up with his game, he just glared at her and asked her if she even had love. She scoffed at him and told him it was stupid, and he just stopped talking about such a thing and gave her a nasty stare. He has a big heart, and openly shares it with everyone. He’s usually called soft or an idiot- but he doesn’t care, he takes pride in who he is and continues to act that way.

Generally one wouldn’t know what kinds of things Battler is in to, since he hardly speaks about his hobbies. However, he enjoys a great deal of reading and absorbing random knowledge. There are different bits of information he knows here and there that often times no one else would know. He prefers to read mystery novels, even when he was young he adored to read- and it usually takes him a day to complete a book. Battler mentioned before that he reads about one hundred books a year, and that could range from his precious mystery novels to different text books.

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Extended knowledge: Even though Battler may not look or sound like it, he’s actually very smart. Since he’s an avid reader, he knows a lot of random facts about different topics. On more than one occasion in the novel, someone has brought up a point and Battler brings up historians to support such a claim. An example would be around the third game, Battler went into the rose garden for a while and Virgilia started to speak with him. The two of them started to talk about different topic, and Battler told Virgilia that “things burn due to a chemical reaction. The phlogiston theory should have been disproved by Lavoiser,” and so on.

Stronger than most: Battler has mentioned during the beginning of the novel that he used to weight train, along with different ways of getting more fit. He’s athletic, and big guy to boot. Battler stands at about 5’11. At the end of the fifth game he demonstrated that he at least has some fighting capabilities, like when he was dubbed the gamemaster and knew just how to handle a sword. Battler’s no pushover when it comes to fighting, however he still prefers to fight with his words rather than his body.

Path to righteousness: Battler seems to have this innate sense for things that should be right and wrong. Since he is a fan of all things knightly, he has a strong sense for justice. If there’s something wrong with someone, he’ll feel the need to try and help them out- going out of his way to do so.

Who wants to play clue?: Since he's been fighting in all these different games with Beato, Battler has the ability to think up random and almost impossible scenarios in his head and relate them back to the mystery at hand. For example, in the third game there was a time when the first Twilight occurred, and he had to come up with a theory as to how all six corpses appeared in locked rooms. He soon came up with the twisted theory that one of them killed everyone and while the culprit was moving to another room, a trap was sprung and person X died. Beato was unable to repeat that in red and had to retreat to come at Battler from another angle.

The power of Blue: While Battler is just a regular human, he does gain the ability to use certain weapons to fight off witches. Even though this is entirely a move which is used in logic battles, Battler can use something called Blue Truth. In the Umineko canon there are rules that go along with these sets of text. One side, specifically the witches, can use the red text at their disposal. Red text is used when something is absolute truth and cannot be questioned as a lie. The blue, however, is a claim used to come up with a theory specifically to counter that truth. In short, using this technique is crucial for fighting back opponents in his world. While in purgatory there are logic fights constantly happening, and the best way to describe the use of the blue would be to counteract another set of text. An example would be when Beato is attempting to back Battler into a corner, she would tell him everyone locked in the room died, and Battler would have to dispute her truth. He could have a come back and say, but everyone died at different times, therefore one could say that the culprit was in the room as well before being killed. If whatever he says with the blue counters the red successfully, it would be his win in that and he could very well harm the opponent. At one point during the fourth game, Battler and Beato's fight escalated so badly that his blue truth had actually turned into forms of spear, skewering her every time he was successful in pushing her back.

Over nine something: Battler possesses extremely high anti-magic toxin. In the Umineko world there is a certain scale which indicates the level of magical resistance. Normally, the scale only goes up to eight digits, and only a select few have ever reached the level of nine digits. Apparently, the only one that have been able to reach that kind of anti-magic power are gods. Battler on the other hand, reached that level on his own. To top it off, all of his digits are nines, making his anti-magic resistance to be 999999999. With this kind of power basically anything magical is rendered useless against him, like a permanent barrier so he won't get hurt while fighting the witches in purgatory. He didn't have this kind of power in the beginning, he recently gained it while fighting an opponent in the third game. This came about after a lot of thinking on his part, what he was really fighting for, and when he got serious then this number rose to the level it is now. This ability was brought to fruition when the Siestas attempted to skewer Battler with their magical arrows. They shot it at him and it simply bounced off, shrieking over his Endless Nine powers, but Battler hardly even noticed what they had been trying to do.

Fairy Tale Role: The Green Knight
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: The Green Knight is a strong and charming young man. He possesses combat skills which are imperative for a knight. He can take the form of a bird, able to transform back into a human whenever he desires. In the story, the knight had given the princess a book, and when she read all the lines of the poem within everyone slept and the prince entered her room as a bird. He's able to be summoned by whoever reads all of those lines, and speak with them until the book is closed. It isn't exactly stated that he has any other abilities, but it's been shown in depictions that he knows how to ride horseback.

Personal Items:
Besides the clothes on his back, Battler doesn't carry any personal items.

Personality:

We could say that Kurei used to be a sweet kid, if you think little boys who stab their baby brothers are sweet. Being raised in an environment of power struggles, war and blackmail would screw any child up. He was never an emotional person, even as a child. Cold, cruel and with no qualms about getting his hands dirty, he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. The atrocities he committed throughout the series include kidnapping an innocent girl, torturing said girl, almost killing his little brother and killing a lot of other people.

Strangely enough, Kurei never fought alone. He kept both friends and enemies physically close, as the Uruha was composed of loyal (often self-proclaimed) friends, backstabbers and those who were just in it for the ride. For example, while he had the loyalty of Raiha who was a descendant of the Hokage ninjas, he also knew that one of the sub-leaders of Uruha, Genjuro, was with him solely to be close enough to defeat him. He allowed a man like Joker to stay with him solely because Joker amused him, and found him to be loyal. He once had a subordinate named Mokuren who takes pleasure in torturing women, who proved to be disloyal. And did Kurei mind? Hardly. Mokuren had his purpose in his plan.

Because like his little brother, Recca, Kurei fights for the people he loves. Unlike Recca, he's willing to kill for the people he loves. Having lost his parents to the war and his lover to his own adopted father's sadistic plots, Kurei deliberately distances himself from the people he cares for. He did the cruel things that he did because his adoptive mother was being held hostage by his adoptive father, who used Kurei as a weapon. He knows that if Kouran ever found him caring for another person again, Kouran would take that person away and make them suffer. He has never recovered from the death of Kurenai, his lover and the only woman other than his mother that he showed his emotions to. He would rather not go through that again.

So how does Kurei treat the people he cares about (with the exception of his adoptive mother, to whom he's gentle and kind to)? If we take his relationship with his little brother as an example, he's rude, he's condescending and he will beat them to death if he knew it would prevent his little brother from walking the same path he walks now. As he said to Kurenai when she died "If a demon were to take you, let that demon be me." He knows that other men would be more cruel. At the very least, Kurei would give the person he defeats an honorable death. Despite everything he's been through, Kurei has a strong sense of honor. While he does not outright punish those who have been dishonorable to him (that's what his loyal subordinates are for), he does reward both friend and foe who exhibit this trait.

He is a mystery to most people that he meet. Perhaps the people who know him the most are his three most loyal, surviving subordinates: Raiha, Joker and Neon, and his adopted little brother, Kaoru. Raiha's loyalty to Kurei stems from Kurei never blaming him for the sins of his ancestors (Hokage ninjas who ran off during the war instead of fighting), and instead respected his abilities as a ninja. Raiha would be the closest thing Kurei has to a best friend, if the two weren't stuck in their master and ninja roles. Joker was someone who joined Kurei on a whim but spent his last moments dying for Kaoru's safety. According to Joker, Kurei is a dishonest man who never said what he meant. Neon, who was once Kurei's maid, witnessed what he was like before Kurenai died, a man who kindly took in three orphan girls with no other place to go as his servants and treated his lover with a princely respect. Neon was in love with Kurei. They would have been lovers if Kurei had not feared for her safety if she stayed with him. Kaoru, like Neon, was someone Kurei adopted as a little brother after discovering his aptitude for solving puzzles. At first he thought it was just because Kaoru was the best wielder of the Kougan Anki madougu. But Kurei never ordered for his death even after Kaoru shifted loyalties. For Kaoru, Kurei was family, a big brother who trained him to fight and to use his gifts and apparent weaknesses to his advantage. In the end, despite all of Kurei's attempts to run away from the people who care for him, the acts of kindness that he showed these people and the strength that he gave them (some of their madougu were given by Kurei) were so memorable that they chased after him anyway.

Long story short, Kurei is a man who became cruel because he had to and has never gotten rid of that habit since.

History: here

Canon Abilities or Powers:

Like all Hokage leaders, Kurei has the ability to create and manipulate flames from his body. Unlike most Hokage leaders, the color of his flame is blue, which led him to be accused of being the cursed child and unfit to take over his father's position. The color of his flame doesn't give it any extra properties, nor is it a sign of him being cursed. (The real cursed child is his little brother, Recca.) Like his father, the form of his flame is a phoenix.

So aside from the ability to blast flames from his body with enough heat and intensity to melt through solid rock, Kurei also has the ability to give flame forms to the souls of the dead so that they may fight for him. These flame souls have the general appearance and abilities of their living selves. For example, the soul of a warrior who used scythes as a weapon would become a flame man who can do whatever he used to do with his flame scythes. If Kurei ever chose to give a flame form to a dead kitten, then he has a flame kitten that does kitten-y things. The flame souls still possess some autonomy and are not fully controlled by Kurei. He can summon and dissolve them at will.

As of his canon point, he has two main flame souls: Kurenai, who is the naked, winged soul of his ex-girlfriend, and Jisho, the soul of one of his most loyal and burliest swordsmen. Because Jisho used to wield huge twin swords that are drawn to each other through magical ninja magnets (I'm sorry, that really is the explanation of his weapon), his flame form can do just that. Kurei's preferred flame is Kurenai, who was never a fighter when she was still alive. But his love for her was so intense that she became the form and core soul of his phoenix flame. Aside being able to fly, shoot flames from her mouth and scream in a high and ear-shattering pitch, Kurenai is Kurei's hottest flame.

As a son of a ninja and adopted son of an underground crime boss, we can assume that he knows his weapons and he knows how to use them well. He was sometimes shown wielding blades in the series, though he really prefers using his flame. His running speed is so fast, it gives his opponents the illusion that there are many Kureis surrounding them.

I don't know why Kurenai's naked either, when she was clothed when he absorbed her soul. I don't think I want to know the explanation other than the mangaka is a pervert.

Fairy Tale Role: The Snow Queen from Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:

Power over ice and snow Perhaps it's safe to assume that whatever Kurei could do using his flames, he could do with ice and snow. Because ice has more form than flame, he could create more solid structures with it. He could give life to snow and ice creatures, but running on the same principle as his phoenix flame, he has to get souls for those creatures.

Charisma Just like the Snow Queen was able to get Kai to come with her with a kiss, Kurei can do the same. It's effectivity varies depending on the strength of his victim's will. Fortunately he is not an affectionate man unless you're his mother or his dead, naked and flaming ex-girlfriend.

Snow Bees Tiny, snowflake sized creatures that Kurei can use to spy on people. They don't do much, they're just snowflake spycams.

The obvious limitation to Kurei's Snow Queen powers would be the temperature. If it's too hot and dry to make ice, then he's practically powerless unless he can get a water source.

Personal Items:
- Thick, black robes
- A mask that has the reverse symbol of the Hokage on its forehead
- A katana with the Hokage symbol on its hilt

First Person Sample:

[[ ooc: I doubt that Kurei would start a text post on the network for simple introductions or inquiries, so let's run under the assumption that a little boy did make it to his ice palace. Let's also assume that he has an ice palace with the interior design of a tacky 90's anime villain.

PS. Mods, am I allowed to have him build a tacky, 90's anime villain ice palace/ villain lounge/ orphanage? ]]

A child has made it into my abode. He says his name is Kai. He refuses to leave my side.

[ Though it can neither be seen over text, nor felt in his handwriting, Kurei smiles a bit at that last sentence. ]

The ice palace is not a good place for a child. I shall not be responsible for his survival. To anyone who knows this boy, he might not return to you in one piece, if he chooses to return at all.

[ So take him back. This set-up reminds him too much of his little brothers (biological and adopted) back home. ]

Third Person Sample:

The first thing Kurei noticed when he arrived at Märchenstraße was that he felt cold, like his blood was replaced by snow and the breath beneath his mask was ice. And this was very strange, for Kurei was never cold. But his body took to it like it did to the heat, so while everything felt unnatural to him, his body functioned like it normally did.

Were those tiny snowflakes dancing in front of him, or were they just a trick of light? Kurei squinted at them and they didn't go away. They were neither harmful nor helpful, so they were ignored. He wasn't sure if it was safe enough to ask the villagers of this town. He wasn't completely sure of his surroundings and had to do a survey for himself. So he decided to consult the only person he could trust... Kurenai.

Kurenai?

Where was she?! He tried to summon her but he couldn't. He couldn't even summon a simple flame. The snowflakes danced in front of him, seemingly taunting him. He swats them away.

He reaches for the katana hidden beneath his cloak. He could be in a dream, he could be in an illusion. Or this could be as real as the scar on his face. It didn't matter now. Whoever had the gal to separate him from his beloved will pay.

Personality:

Impoverished parasol maker, lazy mooch, dedicated flirt, staunch anti-underwear activist and overall pervert, it's a good thing Shiro has a pretty face or else he probably won't get away with the things that he does.

If Shiro were given free reign of his own life, he would collect junk, make elaborate parasols with them, sell them and then use his earnings to play with the women in the brothel. What would he eat? Candy is fine! It's the only thing he can cook anyway. What would he wear? Hey, he'd wear nothing at all if that won't get him arrested. What would happen if he ran out of money? He's cute, he'll find someone who can get him stuff. He would live a peaceful, penniless and slobby life while enjoying the things he love. And he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for that pesky police officer, Kojiro Yamada.

Shiro was reminded that despite everything he's been through as a child, there are still some nice people in this world who have yet to be screwed over by fate. Because his nosiest and clingiest friend is a police officer, Shiro got roped into a lot of cases where he couldn't help but help other people out. It's not for justice or because he believed in the law, he's just uncomfortable with seeing other people suffering, especially if they're pretty women. Or if they're the officer and his friends.

Despite the previous statements, Shiro is a self-proclaimed sadist. Fortunately, this isn't 50 Shades of Ambiguously Gay. Shiro enjoys messing with people. His jokes are often perverted and mean spirited. He does not respect the concept of personal space, and has once bitten off hair from a woman's head to compliment her about it's candy-like color. Combine these traits with brazen confidence and stellar acting ability, and you've got an oddly effective lady-killer. Shiro has survived the world outside the criminal troupe through freeloading from others and he's not about to stop now. This is not to say that Shiro is completely ignorant of other people's feelings. He usually keeps his distance once people start showing serious interest in being his friend or lover.

Shiro does not have a high sense of self-worth. He lived most of his life being considered as trash, and continues to think of himself as expendable. Most of his battle tactics involve him getting captured by the enemy one way or the other. (Sometimes this is because the enemy is a hot woman, but details.) He does not plan for people to save him. He'd be fine if they didn't. He may be the type to save others, and to repay people for the things they did for him out of the kindness of their own hearts, but he'd prefer if no one got hurt at his expense.

He has a complicated love-hate relationship with Anri, his blood-brother. He has a straightforward hatred for underwear. If sensing killing intent were a contest, he'd be the champion.

History:

Shiro's past has not been fully disclosed in the manga. We do know that he used to be the most disfigured child in a criminal organization that deals with drugs called "red veil" that would either give you regenerative powers or mangle your body forever. (You will also be reliant on that drug forever.) He became blood-brothers with Anri, an older, foreign child who's just as bullied as he was. While Anri's body recovered and he grew up to be a beautiful sex slave of the organization, Shiro remained bandaged up and "ugly" for most of his years. Whether or not he was still ugly as he grew up has yet to be revealed, as Anri was a crafty man who liked keeping secrets.

Shiro eventually escaped the organization and became a parasol maker and general lech living in the slums of the city. He does not show signs of withdrawals from the drug and can survive well without it. Oh, and he's pretty. He's very pretty. The series will point this out every time. He is currently running from members of the criminal group while solving mysteries and perving on women on the side.

Unfortunately this series does not have a wikipedia page. It has a TV Tropes page if that counts.

Canon Abilities or Powers:
Aside from drug resistance, Shiro is faster than your average human being and adept with using knives. He's an amazing artist who can craft junk into parasols and accessories. Whether or not the red veil had any effect on him is yet to be seen.

Fairy Tale Role: The Little Mermaid from Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities:

As a human
He can't speak, and every step feels like walking on glass. Worst ability ever.

As a mermaid
Well, he's a mermaid. Horray. He gets a tail and can breathe underwater. He regains his ability to talk. He will build an underwater junk hoard ala-Disney's The Little Mermaid.

Soulless
Mermaids have no souls, so any soul-affecting magic will not work on him.

Submitted for the Approval of The Mod Society
Can he regain his mermaid form when his legs are soaked in water? Or true to the nature of the story, would it be better for him to regain this when blood touches a special dagger? If the former is accepted, I plan to have him construct a giant wheeled fish bowl that he can drive around in. If the latter is accepted, hey, at least he's good with a knife. If neither are acceptable, then I guess I'll have him stay human until someone apps in a sea witch.

Personal Items:
three butterfly knives, a sturdy rope to tie them with and the robe he's wearing. Apologies in advance for the lack of underwear

First Person Sample:
[ There's an ink sketch of a woman holding a bee-themed parasol on the network. Well, if people could tell it's a parasol. It's definitely in an ornate, bottom-hollow shape of a bee. And on the woman's head is wire foundation of a bonnet with fruits and flowers coiling around it.

There are arrows pointing to certain parts of the sketch, detailing what their materials might be. For most of the bee, it says thin but sturdy paper. Glass baubles for the eyes. Old, recycled wiring for the bonnet. ]

Would actual flowers work for the bonnet? Cloth? Would glass be too heavy for the fruits?
Should the bee's legs be hairy like a real bee's? Would a stinger be too much? I want to reflect the essence of spring, of the mutual quest of bees and flowers to survive in the world we live in.

[ For your reference, these are what Shiro's parasols and accessories look like. ]

Third Person Sample:

Every step he took hurt and he lost the ability to speak. But he's free from any type of clothing so he's got that going for him.

Still, his situation puts him at a disadvantage. How will he gather information when he can't ask questions? More importantly, how will he hit on women now? Is he supposed to write everything down on this blank book like a beggar? No, that won't do at all! Beggars aren't popular with women!

Shiro decides to seek help the best way he knew how. The pain from his feet helped his stumbling look more natural. Choosing his victim with his usual devil-may-care attitude, he bumps into the first person he sees. He then falls gracefully. He caresses the ground as he slowly sits up, legs demurely spread apart. He looks up to the person with tears forming in his eyes.

"Help me," he mouths. "Please."

Come on, sucker. Take the bait.

Do you play anyone in Myth Making?: no

IC
Name: Anemone
Canon: Eureka Seven
Canon Point: episode 42
Age: 16

Personality: Anemone is the very picture of a bratty and spoiled girl. She acts sweet when it suits her, faking naivety and awe, before playing tricks on people that range from harmless to awful. While many others are usually (and rightfully so) grated by her outlandish behavior, she doesn't care a single bit. Anemone is well aware of her importance as a pilot and an Artificial Coralian, so she knows that she can get away with just about anything. Essentially, Anemone is the type of person who does whatever she wants when she wants--there aren't many people who can tell her otherwise. She even orders around people who should be her superiors just for the fun of it, and most of the time they have to listen. From her messy eating habits to her mocking laughter, she's not exactly the type of girl you would think of as a charming young lady.

However, Anemone only acts like that about half the time. In truth, the experiments she was forced to go through exhausted her both mentally and physically. She frequently suffers from nosebleeds, extremely painful headaches, and severe moodswings. One minute she can be laughing in delight, and the next she can be viciously snapping at the same person who made her laugh. All her usual brash confidence disappears as soon as a headache or moodswing comes on; she'll want nothing to do with people, not at all, even if they're only trying to help her via medicine or just talking. In fact, she often becomes downright afraid of everything, especially when asked to pilot and enter combat. At that point, the only way to get her to do anything is by injecting a drug. While it will temporarily ease her pain and focus her mind, it also brings out a destructive bloodlust that spells out sure pain for anyone out on the battlefield.

Despite all her suffering though, Anemone seems to be the type of person to just go with the flow. She still remembers happier times of when she was with her family, before she was forced to go through painful and life-threatening experiments, but when emotionally stable she often has fun and enjoys herself. It seems that she bears no grudge against the people who made her who she is. However, this is somewhat different in regards to the person in charge of her experimentation: Dewey. While around him or by his side, Anemone is incredibly affectionate to him, almost disgustingly so--again, going with the flow as he is essentially her boss. When alone though, she almost certainly hates him, as she is shown throwing a strand of his hair off her shoulder in absolute disgust. Despite her emotional instability, her feelings are quite complicated. Even though she hates Dewey, she's also aware that there's nothing she can do against him.

Complicated as her feelings are, Anemone doesn't quite understand them all that well. She becomes depressed after multiple attempts to capture the Nirvash and Eureka that end in failure as she is aware of what makes her valuable--her ability as a pilot. If she fails to do the only thing she is capable of doing, then there's no point to her existence. When she is assigned a suicide mission, she isn't told explicitly of what will happen to her, but she seems to understand that it will end in her death on some level--and she's okay with it. It isn't until faced with sure death that she begins to regret how she lived her life and how she wishes she could do things differently. She wants to smile more, to laugh from the bottom of her heart, to be happy, and most importantly, to return Dominic's feelings for her now that she finally understands. At her core, past the childish attitude and nasty behavior, Anemone really just wants to be a normal girl who does normal things who laughs, who loves, who lives. It's not something she dwells on though, and at the moment she doesn't care to think about the deeper problems that are in her life.
History: Anemone @ the Eureka Seven wikia

Canon Abilities or Powers: Anemone is an exceptional pilot when it comes to LFO units. She is also an Artificial Coralian, granting her some level of connection to the Scub Coral, although it's not as deep as a true Coralian's connection.

Fairy Tale Role: the princess from The Green Knight
Fairy Tale Powers or Abilities: As the princess from The Green Knight, should Anemone read certain passages from books aloud, they will happen in reality. For example, if she read something like "A strong wind blew across the sea." a gust of wind would come from the sea to her.

Personal Items: the clothes on her back, her pet badger Gulliver, and a small suitcase with syringe and few vials of the sedative she takes

First Person Sample: [The handwriting that appears is messy and scribbled, as if the quill was pressed far too hard on the journal out of anger.]

Okay seriously, what's with this place? The people in charge must seriously be stupid if they think they can just kidnap me just because they feel like. [Only mentioning herself? Someone's a bit self-important.] Not to mention it's so boring here. The other day I read that it rained in a book and it actually started raining nearby. Is that all there is to do for fun around here, make it rain or something? Talk about lame.

Ugh, I don't even know if this dumb book's actually going to work. Whatever.
Third Person Sample: Here.
